Yes conditions are overpowered. I faced a team running 2 necros, venom share thief, condi rev and burn guard and my entire team wiped in seconds.

Its more like the conditions/removal ratio is really unbalanced. You can recover from a 5k hit, not a 3k a second tick with no condition removal left.

Even though I’m getting more direct damage than condi damage, I just need to heal to recover from direct damage, but I need to cleanse + heal to recover from condi damage.

Don’t waste your time answering someone who can understand absolutely nothing of the game… whoever defend condi dmg in the actual state is playing a different game.

I like the fact every day a new person open a topic about condi dmg beeing overpowered, but unfortunately there’s always the same few people defending the cheesy gamestyle, with noob statement like “i watch my end match screen and i see i have more direct dmg than condi”, but whatever for how i see the things, the day condition dmg (a DoT side effect!!) will be higher than direct dmg, anet will be forced to take his game and put it in trash.

To the opener: most frequently answer from the players who cant play the game if not carried by their build, will be “it’s a L2p issue. You can dodge condi and cleanse!!”, so instead of doing these kind of topics wich are completely useless since condi/hybrid meta with burst coming from condi when cleanse are ended is what anet is aiming for, my personal answer is: embrace the condi, or be 10x better player and try to win with a power based build. Have fun!

I’d say for lower tiers, it’s kind of “okish”, but the second a condi warr is being played by someone competent you will understand why a lot of people are upset by it.

And I do agree condi overall is a little bit out of hand and classes like rev with very few cleanse options have no way to handle it. You can’t dodge forever. You can’t heal forever, even with “OP” herald heal, that’s 2 secs. And you simply cannot pressure at all either – basically against a condi heavy team, you’re useless. You shouldn’t even be in the match.

Actual comminication and teamplay alleviates this quite a lot though, but then the question needs to be asked: Who is GW2 aimed at? The majority of people in solo q or the minority in teams playing the game in a more serious fashion? Personally I hope the latter is true, but it’s pretty hard to tell sometimes.

Condis were OP even before HoT. They’ve just been steadily getting more and more god mode since then. That’s why i dont even bother taking any kind of pvp in this game seriously anymore. DoTs that do more damage than power builds are just ridiculous by design.

DoTs being able to do burst should not exist ever in any game. They don’t in any game except GW2, and thats for a good reason. Its horribly unbalanced and not the least bit fun to play against when someone can throw a DoT on you and kite you, and STILL be able to burst you. Burst damage should be something that only power can do. Damage over time should be……damage over time, dont ya think? Having it be capable of burst goes against its very definition. Yeah you can cure it, but then its immediately back on you again. Power builds are squishy to do high damage, but condi builds are not.

They really missed an opportunity to actually balance condis with the introduction of the new stat that gives condi duration. They really just need to drastically nerf the duration of all conditions on all classes making that stat mandatory to take to do high damage for condi builds. Just like power, prec, and ferocity are mandatory to do high damage on power. And if you dont take an amulet with the condi duration stat? you do low damage then, just like a power build that only chooses to take power and the rest defensive stats.
