Just Defend [DFND] Commander
Maguuma
Im not really one to complain about the match making, I know it can be hell. This one is just more confusing than anything. All solo queues, 7 diamond and 3 legendary. The 3 legendary get put on same team. How does match making come up with this?
Yeah I had same kind of match couple days ago. In my team was me+1 diamond+1 lege+diamon, sapphire, emerald as trio premade. Enemy had 2 leges and 3 diamonds all soloQ.
Matchmaking starts with 15 pip range and if it cant find players in that range it can go (infinite?) way up or down from that range. So if all those leges got MMR similar to diamond players it’s not strange.
Oh and we won that match against those lege+diamonds 500-300 so divisions doesnt mean a thing. You should be happy your MMR is high enough to meet lege players that low on diamond. Or their MMR was trash… Who knows.
Here’s my super fun matchmaking experience. I’m not sure how these matches are happening, and for reference I hit the button to queue and 30 seconds later was pulled into this match.
I know the feeling. Why the hell do i have 3 sapphires on team when i’m high tier ruby. They weren’t even premade…they really need to sort this out. This 50/50 win thing is getting stupid when you purposely get put with low rank to “make sure” you lose
Don’t complain OP, MMR hell system just hit you at mid Diamond. Most ppl including me are getting matched with 2 or even 3 lower divisions since sapphire. I remember when i got matched with 2 emeralds while in Ruby.
Its not that confusing. The system strives to keep you as close to 50% win rate as possible. So if you are creeping beyond that it will start putting you on losing teams. No matter how good of a player you are there is only so much you can do to carry your team if 3+ of the players on the other team are players that actually deserve to be in legendary.
Actually it is very simply ppl left game and system works with wath he have!

I don’t think this is true. It will always try to put you with people whom are closest in MMR to yourself and fall within the pip range if I understand correctly. You are thinkin gmicro scale like season 1. The reason it ends up being 50 / 50 ish is on the macro scale because you are always matched against the next highest or lowest 5 MMRs in your pip range. So roughly hafl the time your the underdog.
At least this is my understanding.
looking at the names of legendary in your SS, i recognize those baddies so it means, someone in your team is high enough tier in diamond to fight against the bottom feeders of legendary division.
I feel that there is something going on this season with matchmaking that makes matches more one sided. That’s been my experience so far. When my team wins its by a significant margin, and when we lose it is also by a significant amount. Grinding pips seams to be more of a coin toss. Toss the coin enough times and you’ll land heads a few times in a row. Luckily on a 50% win ratio you can still climb, just a lot slower. Also we cannot lose two pips for a loss but we can gain 2 from winning, so that helps.

I didn’t play S1 or S2 so I can’t be thinking of those systems. In my experience so far, the system has alternated (not necessarily every other game mind you, but it does swing back and forth between these two extremes and almost exclusively these two extremes) between putting me on the team that is destroyed, or putting me on the team that facerolls the other team. ~80% of my PvP games or more are 500 – 200 or worse, with a substantial portion being 500 – 100. I don’t pretend to know the math behind how it matches people up, but judging from the people on the forums and the people in my guild who have talked about their experience this is not something that I am imagining or is limited to me. The system does a good job of matching up players on the same team with similar MMRs, after you have played enough games for it to give you an accurate MMR*. But it is gawdawful at matching up teams with similar MMR values. There is no reason that a majority of games should be blowouts, just none. That wouldn’t happen with a good matchmaking algorithm
They’ve explained their new match making algorithm.
I would need to track down the source, but the summary is:
- They first find players around your mmr, and create a group.
- They then find another group that is close enough to your groups mmr and put them together.
This leads to the situation above. From my personal experience, it’s also led to the frequent grouping up of the same player/same team.
I recall they used to have a more shuffled approach when match making, which works well for soloq, but alas.
Matchmaking goes 15 pips from either directions so in theory, both teams are balanced, mmr wise. No clue how yall’s comp are though. If you don’t pressure that Gun Flame war then your going to have a lot of trouble.
Engagez trolls a lot and deliberately loses games… not surprised he’s not banned because the report system is terrible for reporting unhealthy gameplay like that War on Red.

This is incorrect, here is the correct way.
Find 10 players within +/- qt pips(expands after certain time)
Sorts 10 players based on MMR into two teams the highest 5 on one the lower 5 on the other.
