Is it “legal” to give characters names designed to make it easier to confuse them with summons? In particular I’ve seen quite a few folks with names designed to sound similar to mesmer phantasms and it kinda rubs me the wrong way, but I’m not sure if it’s considered being clever or being deceptive.

or just stupid random letters or people that have i’s and l’s so their name looks like a barcode :P

It’s not illegal, but it’s underhanded. And a rather obvious tactic to go for when playing the respective class they’re trying to confuse you with. I personally find it distasteful, but unfortunately it’s a valid tactic.

Wanted to get an asura necro named Bone Minion and color myself pinkish and stuff using Arah mask so people would tab right past me in fights :P

it can also be annoying when you’re fighting a team that all has the same name, same race, and similar facial features. the light armor classes would wear the exact same armor/weapons and dyes. same with the heavy armor classes XD

People who make confusing those are mistaken in the reason they are losing their matches.

It is the same as the people who consider dodge jumping as the holy grail of pvp skillcap.
