Congrats!!
That was a great tournament and Denial Esports came out on top! Great job to Denial Esports and everyone who entered and participated!
How many views did you all get?
Unbelievable! I didn’t think anyone could carry Denshee that hard.
Just kidding! Congrats!
I actually missed out on the live finals, but caught the VODs. Congrats to Denial Esports!
the pure irony that is the team’s name.
But that aside I did enjoy mlg saw some really good games and new builds,
The only grips I had was I could not see anything half the time due to immense particle effects, glaring bloom, and the dc’s that cost teams games because of no puase features, also not to mention the AI (pet) clutter.
The coming patch looks decent so I might stick around.
Just remember anet keep this games pvp combat active/reactive and tactical becuase autopilot, passive, spammy gameplay is not fun.
Well done Denial!
How many views did you all get?
Nothing compared to GW1 GWWC+GWFC.
Haha, the guildname is fitting so well…
Hmm ill say congratz but beating a pool of 16 teams tops aint much , as no gvg sorry
They were the top 16 teams, so getting there had to take a fair amount of skill. End result this is the best sPvP team in Guild Wars and they have my congrats.
Not sure what this had to do with GvG at all…
It was a very fun tournament to participate in. I think we’ll be seeing more of those in the future!

No offence , im from w machine and we find the lack of gvg fail just saying i lol at these tourneys all meta rubbish no imagination , not because of the players because of the lack of diversity , just sayin , we could put a team out n roll the winners :P

??? Ummm.. yeah … okay … (scratches head)
Reads thread title again, and …

lol well gvg was top 1k teams not 16 all im saying
No offense taken. I’ve heard of War Machine. Much more into the WvW scene if I recall correctly.
I’ve got nothing against WvW or even some GvG matches in the borderlands. However, there is a great deal of skill involved in sPvP, and in my personal opinion I’d say a bit more. 1 person in sPvP will make or break a fight. You can be carried through GvG fights much easier.
To each their own though. I suppose if sPvP isn’t your style, perhaps you shouldn’t have clicked “pvp” when you get onto the forums.
Once again, congrats to Denial!

War Machine = #1(/#2 ^^) GvG/PvP guild from the real Guildwars.

I know, and I miss it too. And Observer mode brought lots too, to watch the battles. The tourneys were big time. But still want the winners who did chose to participate and win, even the top 16 … get congrats for winning the spvp tourney.
I didn’t even know about the events section
Cough – hold the phone … WM = #2 … cough … lets not forget a guild who is waiting until Anet does something about GvG to return.

Motoko, I was actually responding to Decrypter’s first post, which was about GvG in guild wars 2. He must have posted again as I was typing my response. I appreciate your concern though.

Its okay pal Just try and pay attention when you respond
to get into the top16 it just requires to play the game. I doubt there are more than 16 srs guilds left in this game.

Exactly !!! try a ladder of 1,000s

Any team can play in PvP. Though the people that say stuff like you just said and say the PvP is easy typically get stomped by the better teams.

Sadly I’m in the 1% of players that actually experienced the competitive scene in this game and not talk about stuff I have no idea of. But keep entertain me.

No. Not at all.
Although people that are clueless say what you just said.
Ill say this before i goto bed the winners of these tournies would prolly not be in top 200 if they introduced proper gvg/mats/ladders , lol just saying :P where guilds > teams

I can assure you I’m not clueless. I did, in fact, partake in the MLG tournament. I’m just putting a spotlight on the ignorance that occurs within threads like such (not necessarily saying you).. “PvP is easy”.. “Get in the top 16 teams to be competitive” – Sure people can say that all they want, but I’m yet to see a player who says that and is actually on a good well-known team.
I would just ignore Motko’s posts. He’s derailing threads intentionally at the moment.
Guys relax twilight assault/wvw season approaching :P we good in wvw blackgate NA hell yeah
Gratz to denied , just watched the stream well played

The problem is a lot of people that share your belief are people that are successful in a game where not much competition exists. The argument “oh there were qualifications to get into the MLG must mean there is competition” does you or anyone holding that belief no good. The point we try to make is that despite your success making that 8 team cut for the MLG – It was against players who are left after almost every serious competitor left to go to a PvP game that takes PvP seriously.
You might say people can say that, but I do know people who have been highly successful or skilled in other competitive MOBAs certainly wouldn’t have a problem given commitment to this game in excelling at it.
Every comparison Decryptor makes is in regards to the competitive scene of GW1. When he says “get to the top 16”, he meant the top 16 teams of 8 players in tournament cuts for Guild Wars 1 PvP when there were easily more than 1000 teams of 8 competing.
Hopefully that helps you understand where we are coming from.
I think you guys are saying the same thing, but communicating it in different methods.
Tich is saying he is one of the few guilds left who play this style actively but agree there is not as much, but does not like / assumptions and players who have little ground to talk on.
Moto is saying… pvp dying decrypter refrers to the time where we all loved the esports guild wars brought, but no longer the case. No all or most good teams left for other games. True statement.
So both agree it is not large in numbers, but one says don’t talk the talk if you don’t feel like walking the walk… meanwhile other says … everyone who walks the walk, already walked away.

The fact that there are big tournaments in Guild Wars 2 PvP that are happening and that the competitive teams enjoy the playing the game competitively make every post anyone has ever made about this game being easy, not fun, or another QQ post because someone hasn’t figured out how to kill a S/D thief yet, invalid.
I agree with you that “not much” competition exists, but competition is still there. There are more than 8 good teams. I’d been in the loop with MLG since the invites were first sent out and they went through MULTIPLE teams that couldn’t make the designated time for the tournament (EU and NA teams).
There is a bright future for PvP, I can assure you that. I’d be willing to bet that there is A LOT of BIG PvP stuff coming within the next couple of months. Anyone willing to bet against me please seek me in-game and we’ll make a bet for like several million gold that I don’t have because I know I’ll win the bet. <3
WoW > GW2 pvp
and that’s bad. pvp in that game has been trash since BC but I’d much rather get CC chained into oblivion than play conquest 24/7.
I wonder how long ANet are going to ignore the community and refuse to put GvG in, the staple of the entire series… zzz. I guess it would suck anyway since all the old devs are gone now.
All they can do is attempt better balance, but this games pvp will always suck.
Grats on esports though, enjoy your 100 views.
Awesome tournament! Congrats to Denial Esports for the win. Great job to everyone who participated.
Who is Hugh Norfolk? He has no Title tag…
Indeed roy did you watch it ?

I am betting 1 gold , that we wont have a new labytithm/racing pvp map with with boodytraps and secret passages , leading in the bowels of the earth , with a : undead-rombot-dragon and a a readhead japanese chick , holding Sephiroth katana sword as a end goal/boss !

Congratulations to Denial!
Maybe my favorite tournament to watch to date, some really fun and close games.

These tournaments aren’t big. I am sure MLG is doing a test audience to see if GW2 is worth time on their end. Guild Wars World Championship was big. Guild Wars Factions Championship was big. Hell even the online based Celestial tournament was big.
8 good teams on a game that is 1 year old as opposed to the 8 year old game of Guild Wars 1 that has more than 8 good* teams.
I am hoping for the success of GW2 as much as any other diehard GW1 fan is, but I am a skeptikittenil I see a PvP format worth competing in.
I’d consider MLG big.
Anyhow, congrats to Denial.

Third party big? Yes.
The tournament itself? lol no.
