I really would feel that country flag finishers would be a great addition to the PvP finisher set. This would allow different teams to represent their country across EU and NA and would provide a unique identity to teams.

In fact, guild finishers could even be added, where the guild logo is painted onto the flag finisher like the guild kite.

For gods sake, please no. There’s nothing worse for a pvp-community than patriotism/nationalism. And that’s what it looks like when you would use such a finisher as a team, even if you just want to use it to show from where you are.

I vote YES. Flag finishers would be cool for guild teams.

I vote, no and I would ask that (when there are team flags) there should team flag finishers. And could still have nationalism through whoever your favorite team is.

@Darnis: No, I’m Swiss. But your comment just shows the problem we would get with such finishers, and that’s why I really do not want to see something like such finishers.

It’s not about patriotism (which I kinda hate myself) it’s a cultural thing. It’s fun to show off where you from. Give a bit of knowledge to the victim of who bested him =D

I figured guild finishers were already in the works. They’ll probably be gem store items though so don’t act too enthusiastic. Anet will charge a lot for them if you do.

I doubt this is something Anet would ever implement. This would easily enable unnecessary harassment towards people using certain flags. Instead of being called a noob and to go back to PvE you would have people bashing others based on nationality.

While yes , not everyone is like that, there are enough people who are that this is a risk that no company would take. This can easily introduce things like Antisemitism, Anti-Religion (insert religion of choice here) or even how it is showcased in this very thread little comments against certain countries.

Not only that, how does the company decide which country flags get made into the game. There is literally hundreds of flags all over the world and making all of them would require hundreds of man hours to create, animate and implement. The last thing Anet needs or wants is to be branded against certain countries where they might be selling their game and lead to a boycott. I’d rather they focus on improving sPvP and giving better rewards/game balance than have them internally worried they forgot to create an Israeli/Iranian/Croatian/Whatever flag and what kind of comments people will receive for using said flags. Or what would happen if they didn’t include flags from those countries. Or even worse, what activists would say if Anet did include some flag of some country that they are against. Too complicated, too full of dangerous potholes that a game company should not and does not want to be involved in.

Guild flags on the other hand are a good idea, and wouldn’t be surprised if that wasn’t in development or on the “To Do” list.
