Can someone explain to me why any hard CC (Knockdown, Launch, Stun, Daze, Fear, Moa/Polymorph) over 1 second duration and/or no diminishing returns is acceptable? I can’t justify a CC higher than 1 second because at that point you aren’t interrupting a rotation, you are holding them down while they get beat senseless. Having shorter duration CCs, I would argue, requires more skill to use and always for more build diversity. The only two classes I can breathe with atm is scrapper and guard. Both have an absurd amount of stab/stunbreaks/evades. I can barely play my necro with all the CC being thrown out.

One thing I loved about GW2 SPVP at launch, coming from WoW PvP, was the shorter duration CCs. WoW’s 4+sec hard CCs have left a sour taste with long duration CC. HoT introduced more long duration CC and it is barely enjoyable at this point.

I expect the “git gud” trolls will love this thread.

Who did you get held down by and beat senseless then? Can you describe the usual situation concerning particular classes?

If you’re like me and fail to dodge on bad days (only the bad days), bring more stunbreaks, use your Wurm on Necro, and memorize all the jump puzzles you can use. I always try to corrupt Might into Weakness against Power builds.

yeah, but those games with diminishing returns on cc don’t have stunbreaks, and rarely have a stability equivalent.

bring more stunbreaks and learn tells dude. you can be very anti cc in build if you want. it’s up 2 u what you build for.
also cc lockdown into burst is so common in PvP games. it’s nearly always the best way to play, especially when there are evades and ability telegraphs.
hence why classes like warrior will overload on cc, to counter their obvious tells and static skills like 100b. like bulls charge is the reason 100b has been a thing since launch. this game is built around cc it’s important to the playstyles of a lot of the classes.

yeah, being stunlocked is frustrating- so bring more stability, blinds, blocks, evades etc- and learn cc tells so you can dodge them. it’s very much a problem you can solve.

like, I play my DH with a single stunbreak, f3 (no traited trap either) and I do fine. so it’s very doable.
