Custom Arena Starter Kit’s and Custom Arena Time Token’s just showed up on the Trading Post for 200 Gems each. Probably an accident, but maybe, just maybe they are releasing them today?! PLEASE?!

Sweet…so for the ones who don’t have gold because they only pvp you have to buy gems for real money because there are no “pvp” ways to get them….pvp stuff for real money or pve golds….really smart..

if you had been plaaying pvp since the beggining you would have earned some gems

they said in SotG that they weren’t putting gems back into PvP, but they really have to if CAs will cost gems.

they also said in SotG that they want CAs to take over for Hotjoin, but that will be impossible with these kinds of costs as barrier to entry.

if we had more ways to generate gold ( besides dyes ), this would be fine.

Already bought char slots with gems earned in old paids…for sure a better use than…this…

Sure thing is that i’m not going freakin’ pve to farm gold, as many others….yeah selling dyes sure, crafted around 300+ got like 10 golds whohooo -.- I repeat…at least let us sell those dyes as unid…they only give crap stuff worth nothing…an infinite list of 1-8 (Max..only for the “good stuff” lol) silvers still on TP….please…

I think atm it is 4 gold for 200 gems (approximately) so it would be pretty bad for spvp players (who the custom arenas are really aimed at) to afford consistently over a long period of time

Having said that we may be jumping the gun a bit who knows Anet may surprise us by allowing us to get them via glory or through tourney chests or w/e

i’m only surprised b/c

a) they removed gems from PvP
b) they stated in SotG that they wanted CAs to replace Hotjoin

with gem costs as they are, i predict that there will be a few guilds that rent them for private use & scrims, but not nearly enough players will want to rent a server for the benefit of public hotjoin players to change over & learn in a better environment.

i hope to be pleasantly surprised by community generosity. i hope to be even more surprised by ANet being prepared for this eventuality.

Go with your 5man team on 1 CoF run (10mins) and u get more than 4g… not such a big deal, its not perfect to force ppl into pve but its done pretty fast tough

who cares this means ppl will be funneled into the solo que tournies. that is a good thing right?

Hope is the last one to die…you know…every patch i think “Well they alredy ruined pretty much everything in pvp…what can possibly go wrong with this one?” And every time they are still able to screw something else…

Finally some pvp revenue for Anet. If this take off we might actually get some support for PvP!

Sure it’s not a big deal. Still forcing ppl into pve (if they don’t wanna do it) isn’t a good step. This is another reason why PvP stays a mess by removin the only thing that was worth something, the gems. And in the next step implementing a feature that requires them. Any sense?

lol are citizens really wont pay for this. it’s only gonna be the organizations who wanna host their tournaments with sponserships. everyday players are just gonna play free tournies now, which is a good thing. less queue time better matchmaking

custom arenas should not be free there needs to be a money barrier. otherwise nobody’s gonna be playing the matchmaking solo free’s. we need casuals in solo que

Totally agree…i’m not going pve, i hate stupid pve, stupid missions, stupid dungeons and stupid mobs and most of all i hate pve farming…why not forcing those pve heroes to pvp too then? And not only with that ridicolous daily pvp you can do in one hotzerg match…. Why does pvp community have to go pvp and pve ppl can still give a crap to pvp only going into wvsw’s zergs? If you want to force us pve then force pve to go pvp too…if not just go…censored

Maybe they’re making so you have to go kick a PvE’er in the pants and make them buy you a server! Good way of forcing PvE’ers to play PvP!

this, imo it shouldnt be so easily accessible that everyone and their mother has one. Its kinda like vent servers, old counter strike 1.6 servers etc. Just gotta have a friend hosting, or join a guild that doesnt mind pooling to pay for it. tbh, 200 gems = $2.50

And about CA’s costing Gems: Can’t really Comment on that, depends if the Price is fair and what CA’s will actually offer. I like the Icon of the Tickets though; this Helmet makes me think that we’ll actually be able to “work on” a Map and make it sth. we want it to be. You don’t really put a Helmet on their that is associated with “construction” if we can only tweak around with the absolut standard-options.

I bet the icon is a placeholder. It’s simply as that. If mouseovered you see the old ticket icon but without any text.

the amount of arenas created need to be limited somehow. the prize of buying one seems to be the best way to go about it.

of course it costs to host a own server wich is permanently online…I can’t see the point in complaining…
have you never been playing any other game with servers you can customize by yourself and stay permanently? Probably not…otherwise you wouldn’t complain..

There is no point in buying the gems now, there is no new content but the tokens.
Even the icon is a “Work in Progress” icon as we have seen it before.
IF we’re lucky though they will introduce CA’s tonight (EU), but to be honest i do not think it is the case. We do know that they’re close now though, i think they will be a very good addition!

I feel pretty disgusted with this… we have been asking for dueling, spectating, arenas and deathmatches since release… this is pretty much the closest thing we can get and they are charging us for it.

If I had known it was going to be this way I wouldnt have bought the game.

Pretty sure I heard about dedicated servers like, a year maybe year and a half before this games release and either was told or automatically assumed they would be paid for. Just look at other games with dedicated servers, lots of them are paid for.

I just bought both items available since today in the gem store.

Here are the descriptions:

200 gems – Custom arena starter kit
Used to create a new custom arena

200 gems – Custom arena time token
Used to add one day of time to a custom arena. Used from your custom arena management panel or double click while playing in any custom arena to add the time to that custom arena

So it’s 200 gems for 1 day.

800 gems cost 10 euros, so 200 gems = 2,5€.
To have a custom arena you have to pay 2,5€ every day. A month has 31 days.

The monthly fee is 77,5€
And i thought this game was b2p

I really doubt CA’s will make it in today’s patch. I don’t think the tooltips are final. Otherwise if they were, this would be ridiculous.

It is not the payment they’re requesting for CA, but rather their intention to have CA serve as a hotjoin replacement, which sounds laughable. Unless they’re removing hotjoin, adding a price tag on CA is a rather self-defeating call to make, no matter how self-evident charging for it might be.

I for myself at least know I won’t be spending a single cent on anything like that, meowowow. Free tournaments are more than enough for the casual nature of this game’s pvp anyway.
