Custom sPvP arenas lack customisation
custom is the rootword of customization. so everything that you said is valid.
yes.. This^
yes.. This^:( random arenas..
I myself am very disappointed with these “custom arenas”. The fact that we cannot turn off capture points ruined it for me. Anet really must not want us to have any other playtypes…just look at how many of the new arenas are “deathmatch” servers. The most annoying thing on these deathmatch servers are people capping points when the description says not to. I for one will not be buying these non customizable “arenas”. Whypay for more of the same? Basically the same as the old unranked matches with descriptions on them.

I’ve had the same problem. The sad thing is that custom arenas also have horrible GM management powers (as I discovered after pming the person who owned a deathmatch server).
The inability to OP people allowing them to ban miscreants. The need to add people to the ban list by hand.
The custom arenas could be something special, making up for ANets blandness when it comes to pvp modes. 3 point cap is not what a large proportion of people want to play.
Customer arenas could open the way to 1 point arenas. 5 point arenas. 50 man arenas. Arenas with less player info, with restricted classes.
Instead we have 10 person teams instead of 8 person teams, and 10 minute matches instead of 15 minute matches. Such a wasted opertunity.
You forgot the most-needed ones:
- turn off rallying on kills
- turn off downed state
Be aware of the fact that Custom-Arenas are still in the Beta. Features will be upcoming as they get official and accessable to everyone.
I made a thread just like this at least 3 months ago.i thought custom arenas were the answer to so many questions, because I thought these features would be included. Once they were put it I went and checked out everything you could do with them. My first thought was, why would I ever buy this? After seeing the limited amount of options I have concluded that custom arenas was solely so people could play with their friends.
I disagree with barring professions, because that could lead to profession discrimination. However, single profession only arenas seems fun. :P
I’d add in:
- Enable pve racial skills!
Because, why not? It’s for the fun. And…
- Forbid a team from having more than one of the same profession.
This can lead to some tactical or interesting play, especially in 8v8 (it wouldn’t work with more than 16 players though).
I also agree with the idea of disabling downed state. And now that we’re at it:
- Disable player spawn. Game ends when no players from a team are left (for deathmatchs).

While I disagree with barring classes on a personal level, custom should mean custom. If you want to bar certain classes, you should be able to.
@mjharrison: Downed state and rallying off of kills are core gameplay mechanics. If you don’t like them, you’re free to play another game.

If the person who buys the arena wants to disable downed states and rallying off kills and you don’t like it, then your free to play another custom arena.
