DH Point Defense Ability.
DH needs more nerfs?
why not delete all traps??
Instead of complaining, adapt and counter it.
Oh look, another person who just says L2P instead of actually explaining how to counter.
OP, I agree that traps are OP, but I don’t think the size is the problem. The problem is that they can be chained together because of their short cast times or lack thereof. What class do you play? If you have any kind of companion like mesmer clones or ranger pets, you can send them in ahead of you to take the effects of the trap. If a DH leaps onto you, try dodging. You might just avoid the daze altogether. If you’re stunned, wait for the traps to trigger before popping a stunbreak (unless it gives you stability)
But as OP as traps are, DHs are sort of weak without them and are somewhat prone to pressure. In the end, the guy above me is right that we have to adapt and counter it however we can. Anet won’t balance them properly so we’ll have to make do with what we have.
Dragonhunters were nerfed to balance it better at lower divisions, at high divisions, Dragonhunters are just worse & slightly different Revenants/Scrappers.
Cry nerf but it’d probably be bad to change DH for the worse, ever. If anything, buff them with some mechanic to heighten how good they can be if they master a really difficult/skillful mechanic.

There are many threads on the counters.
Someone at another time posted all the skills from weapons, pets, utility skills that trigger them without you stepping inside them such as rev hammer 3 skill.
Some people are posting threads for attention, others to vent, some do it from being completely new etc etc but in all honesty when a build like DH only effected the bad players in the game from a game to game perspective, its a L2P issue.

I dont always agree with chaith but its nice to see a top level player engage on the forums on builds with the general public.

Chaith, I believe that you see the Dh from a scrapper point of view. From my elementalist point of view, Dh are quite strong. Though, so are any other classes for that purpose. Ele is garbage.

This might sound savage but from your glass lightningrod ele point of view, everything looks quite strong. I wasn’t speaking from a Scrapper 1v1 perspective more like, observing the win rate of DH’s throughout league play and pro league.

I’m waiting to see how DH gets played in the next pro league matches to see whether it needs nerfs/buffs.
Right now, i see more value in running medi guard with the only trap being purification and perhaps a bow.
It’s funny cuz a guard takes 270retal damage from an engi per hit of procession and only does 470 damage on crits to the engi.
Also test of faith does no dmg if you say on point.
But you’re right guard is maybe the 6th best class right now, way too high. Nerfs needed.

I think in the end, DH is a horribly designed profession for sPvP. Low skill floor, low skill cap. It’s very effective against lower skilled players, but anyone experienced can easily play around it.

I think in the end whats worse is that there is also no skill ceilling with any of its skills. In my eyes this is the main problem.
Im fine with them critting allot and high. But if they can just keep rinse repeating setting up traps with no effort involved. I dont know what to say, its not as bad as turret engi back in the days but the ease of play is definatly comparable.

You must balance game on high lvl players floor, not for hot join where play players on touchpad.
In S1 i see maybe one DH every ten game in D/L League, to S2 DH hit next traps nerf and is really low chance to see DH in high lvl League.
Fredy Brimstone lvl 80 Mighty Warrior
Oupí lvl 80 Immortal Guardian

you are totally right… i don´t see guard in the next meta… but i´m still gonna rock the season with my new build
Play DH with them… Having 8 DH laying traps is skillful PvP and what Anets vision is, right?
….. And Elementalist.
Dragon-hunter traps should not have CC.
It’s really not fair that DH traps completely outshine ranger traps. Ranger was the original trapper class. It’s a lot easier to counter traps that apply condi dmg as opposed to traps that apply instant physical damage. It’s also not fair that DH traps do more damage then necro wells. DH has made both utility sets pointless on their respective classes. You would be better served rolling a DH.

First of all dh traps don’t do more dmg than necro wells.
It’s also not fair thief, warrior, ranger, Mesmer, ele and necro have better signets than guard.
It’s also not fair that thief, warrior, ranger, Mesmer, ele, necro, rev and engi have better innate defenses without using 2 full trait lines.
It’s also not fair that every melee weapon in the game except guardian sword isn’t near completely nullified by projectile hate.
It’s also not fair that I can use a 65s CD skill with a minor and a GRANDMASTER trait tied to it, but if its luckily interrupted I get absolutely nothing from it and it goes on full CD. Don’t know any other skills like that in the game.

I agree, ranger traps should be buffed.
why not delete all traps??
I’m fine with that, less cancer, more Pre-HoTs gameplay.
When you do things right, people won’t be sure you’ve done anything at all.

How about you remove the cancer that is brainless 12345 scrapper. Or the cancer that necro has perma broken af chill. Or the cancer that revs can press 2 and do 8k+ damage on a 4s CD. Or how bristleback does 10-13k as a pet which requires no traiting or squishy amulet.
Freaking dh isnt even close to cancer than most classes right now.

Dragonhunter doesn’t need more nerfs. It only needs to have some animations toned down a bit, and have others be more visible. They are definitely not OP, just annoying.

You mean like the old Frenzy-100b warrior ?
Dh are really annoying on point, but playing around it is not a big deal … For me the biggest problem of the traps is not the damage but the cc, poping some stability fix it so in general I think DH are fine….. cool feature is that somehow they combine pretty well with necros, … whenever I see a necro and a DH, I see death … better to stay away from that, … whatever stability attempt to avoid the traps get corrupted to an endless cc chain and condi bomb :/
Can warriors have stances that only trigger on impact also?
So i can active endure pain/berserker stance.. lets wait some seconds so the cooldown is gone.
Now charge into battle let the stances activate itself so i can active them again right after it :-)sounds fair doesnt it?
you do know traps work the same for all classes right? its not like only guardian traps CD starts from when you place them.
currently a Boyfriend main :P
Waiting To ReRoll Mystic & Forget About Tyria
Frankly as someone who has played guardian since head start I would love it if they would change the traps into necro style marks or even wells.
That way nobody could complain about being ambushed by them.
But at the same time they would be ranged & share any boons granted with allies which would fit so so much better with the archer feel the spec is supposed to have.
(they would also make for some interesting rune choices)

Wards would be fine to , there was good wards in gw1 >_<

Revenants and scrappers are all about using your attacks at the best possible moment. There’s room to learn and improve. Because of that people can actually get good at them. It wouldn’t make sense to have a class you can pick up in an hour and destroy players on a class that took weeks or longer to master. I don’t get who would want that. The whole current design of dragon hunter feels half-effort which is why it’s so low skill cap and it shouldn’t just have nuke level damage with double trap bs to compensate. That’s just bad game design.
Dragon-hunter traps should not have CC.
Well then nor should any other AoE then… mes wells, necro wells… come on guys you cant throw this stuff out there in a vacuum. You do realize the meaning of the word “trap”, right?

Dont worry they will kill them like Ranger traps eventually… cant place them AoE like wellls for some odd reason and now gutting the damage. all for something that is easily beatable if you use your brain.

Traps are cc though by their nature, I’d rather they were all cc and no or little damage.
Miranda Zero – Ele / Twitch Zero – Mes / Chargrin Soulboom – Engi
Aliera Zero – Guardian / Reaver Zero – Necro
