It is because DH is very easy to play for good results without that much knowledge required
If you know PvP then DH isnt harder to fight than other classes
And if you yourself have no problem with DHs and it is just your teammates like you said in your post then you should be able to climb into higher divisions where your teammates wont die instantly to DHs

The problem is the pull into traps. That’s ~14k Damage without the DH using his Longbow – or one bad dodge is most likely your end.
That combined with a lot of blocks and you have a low skill based gameplay.

That’s nonsense. You find multiple dragon hunters in platinum and legendary as well. Maybe not 4 on each team, but 2 or 3 on a team is still very very common. Go to dueling servers and fight some of the top DH’s there, you will lose horribly. I can personally introduce you to a few. On top of that, watch the streams of the best pvp players like drazeh and such, they complain about DH’s being overpowered too. This isn’t just bronze players complaining, DH’s actually are overpowered and test of faith needs nerfed

You make a very valid point about all these “if you know what you’re doing you should have no problems with profession X” comments; what if the guy playing profession X also knows what they’re doing!?! :O
It’s like the “you should be able to carry a team full of bad players if you know what you’re doing” argument. If your team has a single bad player (or player with a bad build) and four average players versus a team of five average players then logic would dictate that the team with more average players will most likely win regardless of how you personally play. You’re effectively playing a 4v5.
Anyway, those kind of dismissive comments just amuse me.

Smells a lot like old school turret engi to me
When i see 3 or 4 DH on oposing team i type like horray more DH to stomp …
Then i write to the team i go mid. please stay behind me. I put up missile defence and then reflection and ride through their traps … Then focus and stomp them …
But this is due to me playing ele ….. The more bowtrappers the better …. And burn guards … doh i have 5 ae cleanse …
Mostly 1-2 of my team rush past me using movement skills despite telling them, then instapop in 10 traps and true shots and we loose…
When they listen a blowout is imminent …
Much more anoying are defensive symbol guards. The fights are very long.

This is more of a failing in their matchmaking IMO; they’ve created a Rock, Paper, Scissors style game and then matchmaking puts 5 Scissors on a team versus 2 Rocks, a Paper and a pair of Scissors.

Where’d you get 14k damage from? Are you sitting in a trap after the pull? Because the only trap most have is ToF and that’s still only around 4-5k tops. I think you took this number because it sounds big but unless you can back it up with math or kitten it’s invalid. Even if he stacked 25 might and put 25 vuln on you…. Not getting your glorious 14k. Oh and since you got pulled in the trap was not already active. Meaning the first hit is 30% weaker than crossing the border soooo………….. Dodge out because that really didn’t hurt?

Another way, That burn Guard/DH + ele ….. .. what is that combination? how to hit the Guard/DH? Team fight always get 10+ burn when hit their BLOCK!!! BLOCK!!!BLOCK!!!BLOCK!!!BLOCK!!!BLOCK!!! .
When I see them. Should I leave the keyboard and do not doing anything? or turn on that Healing bot ele?
The worse thing is 70% of DH and Guard just spam their trap and block rotation in the point. They even don’t use any dodge. Sometime, I don’t believe this is platinum….

Yes cheap invulns are a problem of whole game. its stupid that it brings a 100-0 matchup like burn guard vs transfer necro close to 50/50.
You can still transfer to other enemies, but yea it is a timebomb battle.

ele can clean that burn stack in a sec and Shocking Aura do his great job. But the real problem is: if your team don’t have ele join this burn block game = game over.

so plz stop qqing about dh class and plz stop nerfing it…in fact some of the previous nerfs to it should be reverted. players and anet especially, plz recognize that the problem is in CLASS STACKING, not in the class itself.

They share their trap… share their block…. share their heal…. share their blind…. share their pull and push. I have given pull and push for 4 times by 2 DHs. That time, I think I am a football and this is special reward for NEC.
I’m high gold with almost 200 games played and I barely ever have 3 dh’s on one team. This happens as often as 3 thiefs, 3 necs or 3 warriors…it just happens. And most of the time you are going to swap if you know what’s good for you.
I do see 2 DH regularily (number is obviously inflated since I’m already one myself) but not so often that I consider them a problem. I can have just as many games where I’m the only DH as games with 2 on a team. Not to mention I’m usually very happy about 2+ DH on the enemy team since the traps are so insanely easy to play around.
Also you have to consider something: what are your main dps classes in PvP? Warrior, Necro and Guardian. Both warrior and Guardian do well in teamfights as individually and are rather forgiving so it’s perfectly fine to have 2 of them in one team. Professions like thief or mesmer that are very individual in their playstyle simply don’t fit in teamplay more than once. Just like you probably won’t need more than one ele for support since you’ll lose damage otherwise or you are going to be too squishy like with 2 necs that you may not be able to properly support.
I’m hesitant to say that DH is stronger than average. They are easier to play than other professions but they are also simply one of the most versatile classes which is obviously something very important in a dynamic game and that will keep DH popular even if he is going to be nerfed the little bit he really deserves.
The problem with DH in my eyes lies in the huge differences in skill. Even on a decent competitive level (plat and above from my experience) people know about their weaknesses and exploit them heavily which makes them not a very favoured class. On the other hand the easy to play mechanics and people simply not knowing how to play around traps etc. make them disproportionately rewarding in lower tier play. And nerfing DH by anthing more than a bit here and there their role in higher skill play would be gone. And right now I personally don’t see a solution to satisfy both camps. If you do then please enlighten me. I mean technically if all you are going to do is nerf Dragons Maw and Procession of Blades that would perhaps be fine, since barely anyone can afford to sacrifice survivability for these on higher levels and they seem to be what people complain most on lower levels.
I think that engineer is actually a pretty good example for our problem. It’s another class that fits this overall role very well, and imo a well played scrapper declasses any dh these days and has additional support capabilities, like function gyro etc. But we all know that engineer is a very difficult to master class so people won’t play it that frequently in contrast to DH which, while being weaker, is just the more easy approach.
But it just doesn’t seem fair to nerf something to the ground because it’s a bit easier to play than something else that can be a lot more devistating but simply isn’t recognised because people don’t want to/can’t learn it.

DH is not the problem, problems are:
1 Class stack
2 Duo q
1 class stack in some classes like DH get exponential power (sharing defenses and other shared mechanics) or necros (incredible condi and damage presure)or mesmers (constant condibombing and make battles a maihem ofkitten.ing clones)
2 Duo q in a world of pugs allows to bring to the table some stupid chessy mechanics
I like how in this thread, people have complained about medi trappers, burn guards, symbol guards, and full trappers.
If anything, it seems DH is the only class in this game to have actually achieved true viable build variety.

bottom line, class stacking is really the issue here, not dh’s…so plz stop nerfing dh’s…this is wut happened to necros earlier…ppl kept running into teams with 2-3 necros and got steamrolled by them and made the wrong assumption that the prob was with the necro class itself, when in fact the prob was class stacking then as well…after that, necros got nerfed to kitten again after enjoying like 5 minutes in the sun, b/c a lotta players and anet still dont understand wut the actual issue is…plz dont ruin dh’s like u keep ruining necros, anet.
