Constant mediocre damage won’t kill a DH. Its damage/block/heal rotation is too strong.
This makes the class hard to play against for newbies as they lack any sense for counterpressure timing (or even worse, they just stand still in traps).
1. Go to metabattle.com.
2. Take ranger/druid shoutbow berzerker build
3. Slot Signet of the Hunt for unblockable combined bristleback/rapid-fire burst
4. Kill DHs while they feel safe with shield of courage
5. Watch them cry about OP rangers
6. Search for that shield blocking warrior…

- access an unblockable ranged cc skill
- delay the fight with elite and its reset
- kite most classes with its mobility
- out sustain most other dps builds
- remove conditions multiple times
- proc both offensive and defensive boons
- something else? Yeah, also group utility.
DH is one of the remains of the HoT elites mess…
CC spammer class heavly conunter every DH build.
Also rangers can counter DH.
Every class that have Unblockable skills can counter a DH.
P/P thief can counter a DH with range burst and teleporting away from his burst
I counter DH even using my necromancer with corrosive poison cloud..
Learn to play against a DH and you will win 75% of times.
The DH have only a burst combo and a static gameplay. Is hard to fight but you can learn his mechanic and do pretty good.
Every class is unfun to play against. That is why the game died.

DH is really getting on my nerve sometimes…any hard counter?
Dodge the big F1 windup pull.
Don’t run at them if they’re standing still (traps).
They have two stationary attacks with longbow – easy to dodge.
After they Renewed Focus, focus them because they’ll drop pretty quick.
DHs aren’t even top meta, but they are still a good carry build for low-moderate rankings where people still don’t play around them. Every decent DH is pretty much AI it’s that obvious when they are baiting heal, trying to drag you into their trap. You mess up their start and you’re coasting home. Depending what set-up they running they will usually have poor disengage as well.
Try duel DHs more, or actually just learn how to play one properly then you will know how they think. DHs are fine now, there are much better classes. Try duel a good engin or elem then get back to me about DHs.

Druids and Scrappers hard counters DH’s. Tempests greatly restricts the amount of teamfight damage they can put out. Heralds have a favorable match-up against DH’s.
They cant survive thief +1s. The only instant cast stunbreak is also their only (not counting sword 2 or f2) mobility.
So, outrotating. Scrappers, Druids, Tempests and Heralds. Even Daredevil +1s.
Note: S/D condi thief will win 1v1 given enough time.

Yep, and with SoulBeast with their 4-sec unblockable on beast-merge coming, they’ll hard-counter even more with the ability to spend unblockable time baiting out dodges.
You have to bait out all their defensive kitten, and kitten do they ever have a lot of it.
Pop the aegis procs with ranged autoattacks. Wait 5s every time Shield of Courage is up. Waste a cc to test/proc Hunter’s Determination. Wait out other blocks like Shelter. Wait even longer when they use Renewed Focus.
Oh, and dodge all their offensive kitten because they’ll 1-combo you if you get speared and pull/pushed through traps.
So at this point, it’s been like 30s (pretty dumb for a point capture game, I know). Now that they’ve exhausted their defenses, you can cc or burst and finish them off.
It’s not difficult to beat one, but it is frustrating and time-consuming.

To clarify that: on Reaper and Thief I do. Don’t main other classes atm. Whether I cleanse a trap cripple or a torch burn doesn’t matter. I burst, dodge and cleanse from time to time if the condis feel to annoying (edit: and LOS the bow of course – if he uses one).
When I roam on Power Reaper and I see a DH I swap a random utility to NCSY! and go all in. If he hasn’t specc’d at least two leaps to recover he is dead.
In sPvP DHs are free-kills if the fight already lasts 20 seconds when I enter because they ‘ve burned all their defenses – don’t even need unblockables anymore.

literally, games designed for pve so not complaining
but DH is the worst one
I really dont know what happened this season (as of august 2017), but burn guardians (whetever their variation is, I just identify them by having 16 stacks of burn out of nowhere) are out of control. Since couple of days I didnt played a single match without a burn guardian on the map. There is always 1 or 2 guardians per team in every match and more often than not they sport the burn build (I notice less and less trappers). This is a particular pita for me since I play a melee build atm. If I don’t hold on to my cleanse and use it very carefuly in combination with dodges, I am instantly deleted from the map. As the OP mentioned, not fun to play against. At all.

I hate dh so much
Play druid or tempest. Problem solved.
burn dh does not have stability, its easy to cc them to death. they only have 1 condition, thats burn that is easy cleansable.
You’ll see a lot of burn guardians because it is one of the few competitive builds for players who don’t have HoT.
Oh hey it’s the weekly I don’t know how to fight DH’s thread.
Few things I find funnier than endure paining traps, signet of might + cc/evis train against garbo, face rolling, DH scrubs. Lot of times they don’t have a chance to renewed focus and cheese away for a moment.
To be fair, I could see for a lot of classes this being an “un-fun” fight, if not unfair per se. DH can do some amazing things with zero skilled input involved.
(Anets got great design implementations for PvP if you didn’t know)
