Is there any way to measure my own damage? Im just getting back into GW2 and its hard not to comprehend what’s doing the most damage over X amount of time. I dontvwana look on a meta website just to copy n paste a build over….

Okay, i got back home and looked at them, and this doesn’t tell me anything… I want to know the average amount of damage i do over time with different abilities / spells and attacks. How am i supposed to know how much damage i am really doing with chaos storm and winds of chaos??? Are we expected to tally everything up and count the damage we did with a stopwatch and measure our dps?

Dude dont bump mate. If no ones replying it means no one has the information you WANT to hear. The information is that there isnt a way aside from recreating hte build in HOTM and testing it yourself.

Evan gave u the best answer. If you can’t track your damage with the chat log, i’m afraid you can’t track your dps in GW2.

We understand that is not your desired answer, but that’s the answer. Same as you can’t track that, nobody else is able to track that, so you are not in disadventage. The thread should be over, no need to bump like Shadelang said.

By the way it is still missing stuff for a bunch of different health steals …

The combat log is vastly improved but it’s still not a good way to study your performance in real time as it is not a GUI and updates too rapidly to study while playing.

The ideal option, imho would be to go the route of SWTOR: add an option to have the combat log saved to a text file (in real time) that could be parsed (in real time) and processed on the player’s computer using player written apps in order to display information about combat (in real time, and solely based on the information in chat logs).

That would solve the issue of players going to 3rd party memory reading techniques to generate these tools.

The chat log is still heavily bugged and clouded. For example, an extra projectile or two from whirling wrath will be missing on a Char, but show up when playing on Human.
Regardless, everyone knows that viewing the combat log is a cluttering pain. I know a guard player who has a damage calculator he made in excel. I’m tempted to replicate that…

The combat log shows damage and its sources but, how am i supposed to know how much my conditions are actually dealing over 10 seconds rather than how hard i burst on a ranger… there’s differences that are so hard to really calculate you cant really expect us to just use a calculator….

Condition damage is listed as buff damage. YW

Yes, you can check this at any time.
I keep a chat tab labeled “What Killed Me” for just this purpose.
