Haven’t played after the new patch yet. SOme my guildies said that all classes damage hase been increased in the last update. They cannot understand if armor is lower now or weapon damage is higher. Here some thing they told me:

Warr: crit for 2.5k with greatsword and no crit trati or damage, crit from 7k to 10k with axe f1. (My mate said that on his build he never critted so high).

Skill 4 of mesmer greatsword seems to crit harder, same thing for hammer of wisdom.

What’s happened? Some ghost patche notes or something i haven’t read?

Some people say its lower and some people say is higher.

dmg is much higher for every class exept thjief. I play thief and i see no dmg increase but i get hit much harder than before

The only changes that are noticable to me are the double sigils on two-h weapons and the ability to equip the same type of sigil with independent cds. So now someone can equip sigil of air/fire on the same weapon set and do even more damage.

damage didnt change i suspect that newbies goes to HOTM and enter arena or any pvp not knowing how to equip amulets and runes coz of new ui.

I feel squishier with the same build and gear/runes as before. I notice my HP just vanishes in chunks despite playing bunker.

Characters in PvP will use the same armor and weapons from PvE.
All items give zero attribute, rune, sigil, or infusion bonuses in PvP.
All items function as level 80 exotic-quality items.
—-> Chest, leg, and boot armor still contribute to the total defense value.
All attribute values are consistent with the old system.
PvP gear now includes unique rune, sigil, and amulet slot.

What does it mean? chest leg and boot….. Shoulder, head and gloves?

As i say in other post i think that is the armor of all character that is changed.. beucase if i do greatsword skill number 2 i do the same damage to svanir, utahein or other mob in hotm, the problem is that they do to me 5k of damage with one hit (and i have try also with bunker build 3500 armor and i receive 3k of damage, before the patch it was like 1000/1500 dmg and is the same against other people in spvp,), also the ranger’s pet receive so much damage. The strange thing is that in pve/wvw the damage is not so high so is only a “problem” in pvp (or they want this type of pvp i don’t know)…

This was another giant power-creep patch. A few more patches like these and healing skills will be obsolete.

See the picture.. yes is like before the patch the dmg in pvp.. is not a problem uf runes.. 14k in one hit against deal to a berserker thief from an engi with 1 SKILL (rifle 5 skill) i never see it, max 6k if you are full berserker engi not 14k…… (and she as 17k of life so it is istantkill) they have put ferocity for have critical damage more weak and then they increase all the damage? for me is a bug..

I can 100% promise that the NPC’s in the mists are dishing out more dps than before Soldatoscelto. Having played hotjoin for a few hours I certainly felt that damage had increased across the board. I attributed it at the time to all the pve heros coming in running zerker gear and pretty large power creep for certain classes. As a thief I didn’t feel my damage going up so who knows. Either way if this balance stays the way it is then thief just got knocked down the totem pole.

Ok i have see what is the problem.. toughness work different now in pvp instead of pve orwvw.. with 2600 armor i receive almost the same damage that i receive with 3400 armor ( like 150 dmg difference) and against player.. i test the skill 1 of greatsword with normal damage (without crit) against warrior with 2600 armor and another with 3400 armor.. The first receive 650 dmg and the second 500.. it was so before the patch? i don’t think so..

So when anybody but a thief gets hit for 14k it’s a L2P issue but when a thief can’t avoid a clearly telegraphed attack, it’s a bug.

Try to do the same thing with the same engi and the same thief with the same build in wvw and i’m sure that you don’t read 14k of damage, so if they want that in pvp you receive more damage than pve or wvw why they haven’t write in patch notes? i’m not the only that think that you receive much dmg in pvp (also a lot of my friends and the thread starter say the same thing). If it is a normal thing (for have a fast pvp where people must have an high skill for avoid all attack and hit the target) ok but i want hear this.. i’m almost sure that in pvp there is increased damage and now i can’t prepare build for wvw/pve by testing it in pvp

Damage is higher due to the rune and sigil changes. The sigil changes especially, as all 2h weapons now have an extra sigil -and- sigil interactions have changed so that people can use very powerful sigils together (for all weapons).

This is a Hotm npc… We tried to copy their damage but it’s impossible. The engineer there did in a row: 5k, 9k and 11k dmg to our tester (which we kept on healing). We tried to make the most zergy engineer to push that damage to him, he only got 4k maximum.

So your comparison is wrong lad.

hmmm ok so you think that is a a problem of hotm npc (but is a bug or they want that npc so strong?), but i have see that also in tournament pvp there is the problem that toughness don’t decrease so much damage.. is possible that the damage difference from 2600 and 3400 toughness is only 150 damage (with a hit that do 500 damage)? Is a question i’m very confused xD maybe is like you say that they have make all sigil and runes more powerfull in attack but then also defensive build must be balanced or not?

Try the damage of greatsword 1 skill against a warrior (with 3400 armor – heavy armor) and against a ranger (3200 armor -medium armor), with critical hit you do 1000 to each other.. tryed last night with my brother.

This is a carryover from how PvP has been since launch. You know the armor differences between Light, Medium, and Heavy armor classes? It has always been on the otherwise statless armor.

I don’t know what happen but it seem normalized now, i have do the burst rifle skill against a thief berserker amulet and he receive 7k of damage, then he try with cleric and receive 5k damage, so toughness seem work now :P

Yes, damage is certainly higher than before due to the rune and sigil changes. Not a ton higher but enough to feel the difference. The game will be faster paced, which is great imo.

Damage does feel higher. It’s a lot more fun this way if you ask me. Me xeph teldo hman and azshene queued together today and they were some really fun games. Me Xeph and Hman all running zerker builds and we could just grind through targets quick.

At first I thought it would be condi meta but with higher damage in general in the game it sort of lends itself to power damage, making it about even.

The game is feeling more balanced now than it ever was, but that’s only a few hours of play worth of experience. Hopefully that remains my opinion a few months from now, but at the moment the game is a blast. Thief burst is pretty bursty now with air fire sigils, we had some pretty nutty stuff going down in last night’s games. Good times.

They were ok the team we were playing against wasn’t condi heavy though. Haven’t played against a good patch necro yet, condi engi seems strong with balthazar esp 1v1 but I haven’t played against it enough to have a firm opinion

I think we are in a burst meta, and it is glorious!!! Things are dying left and right, and its not just boring bunker wars!!

Some things might be a little over the top, but I don’t even think condis are an issue from my most recent play-throughs. You can just CC and burst these condi specs down before their condis kill you.

Everything is just dying left and right it seems.

we are not in burst meta. still condi bunker spam.
sigils got separate cds, sometimes its a bit more dmg, but this is not enough to abandon condi bunker meta.
