Dear AnenaNet PvP Developers,

I am writing to share my thoughts on your current system of PvP. I think that for the most part, you’ve gotten a lot right. However there is still a long road ahead of you if you wish to make Guild Wars 2 have a lasting, positive impact on the gaming world.

Simply said, you must implement some kind of competitive ranking system. You must do this as soon as possible if you wish to keep your hardcore PvP base strong. After a few weeks, there is simply no motivation for my team and me to continue playing. Combine this with a small amount of sPvP maps to play on, and you are asking for the brilliant spark that you have created to fizzle out permanently.

PS – Underwater combat is a failure. Please remove it from your game and focus your efforts elsewhere. Also trebuchets have no place in tournamanet play.

Agreed. Nothing to do but grind glory and stomp pubs in free tourny atm.

Treb is a good component in theory and I think it adds a good strategy element into the map. I would suggest maybe adding a respawn timer on the repair kit so the entire match isnt focused on repairing your treb and destroying thiers over and over. Most comps have at least 2 people dedicated to dealing with both trebs (fire/repair and destroying) and it takes away a lot from the standard team oriented fights on that map.

I agree that they could have a place if implemented properly. What I would like to see is a sort of ‘off map artillery" aspect to it. So there would be place you could go to call it in on the minimap and maybe it would have a 1 minute cooldown timer. I’m sure there are lots of people with other interesting ways to do it as well

Agreed, sPvP is boring because many people find the cap point system Boring.

We need game objectives such as TDM, Capture the Leader and CTF.

Underwater combat isn’t fun, don’t see a sense in removing it all together but definitely agree in that the devs should cease focus on this and shift towards implementing other game modes. This is urgent.

While were on the topic, I think the second most pressing matter is a dueling system. There is currently no serious way to test out new builds aside from tournaments. Target dummys only get you so far and pub matches honestly aren’t much better. So in order to effectively test a build i need 4 of my friends online. I would like to think a system that is almost every MMO ever and many other games, wouldn’t be difficult.
