Dear Anet, Your Leaderboard is still flawed
It must suck to have people constantly whispering you. I’d advice you to turn the whisper chat off when you PvP if this abuse occurs every match.
Everyone knows Ladder is still meaningless because it’s a grind/farm whatever people wants to call it and I bet ANet is totally aware about this. Maybe things will change until the expansion, but it’s just something I feel.
So ignore them through blocking or turning off whisper chat and keep enjoying the PvP of this game, hope you like it a lot!
Well, I’ve turned off all my chat except team to prevent these annoying people. But I can still read the green chat(say). I have blocked and reported to many people just for this kitten.
Is there any way to disable “say” message?
On the image you have all the options you can enable/disable to read on your chat. So I guess you can disable /say chat too. Remember to create another chat with everything active, so you don’t have to switch back ’n forth things when going out of sPvP.
You’re running a turret engineer build. You’re going to get trash-talked for that.

Can you promise me if I change my build or my profession, people will stop judging me?
You can turn off the “say” bubbles in the chat box options.

It’s really quite simple. Ranked PvP as it is right now is full of very low skill floor builds. Power rangers just stand on a ledge and pewpew pressing 2 & 4 as needed. Necromancers just have to pop Lich Form and auto-win against most classes. A turret engineer just drops their stuff and only has to focus on rifle skills.
In a team queue environment, most of these builds would be handled quite easily because a highly skilled team with high ceiling builds will effectively stop out low skill builds like turrets. Farm them at their spawn, focus AoE, etc. etc.
But in a solo queue environment, where most players you’re matched with seem to care little for cooperating or simply believe better than you will not follow along. Your allies rarely can be relied on, and that’s why these builds are so popular in ranked arena yet are nonexistent in actual paid tournaments.
Players just have to decide for themselves if they want to contribute toward elevating the competition level of ranked PvP, or if they want to saturate arenas with crap builds. I take no offense toward the treatment of players who seek to win matches at the expense of this game’s longevity and the health of its community by running low skill floor builds.
Learn to play a better build or learn to mute people.
I’d like to go on record here and say that I am one of the people that has flamed you in the last couple days.
Since you play a turret engineer, when you were asking for advice in /map chat, I assumed you were just trolling, to get people worked up.
I’d like to apologize for my behavior, as I didn’t mean to belittle your efforts at getting better if it truly is your goal.
If you like playing engineer and you want to get better at the game, I suggest watching some streams and taking notes on their gameplay. Most notably:
http://www.twitch.tv/ostricheggs
http://www.twitch.tv/chaithh
http://www.twitch.tv/hibify
They’re all engineer mains that stream quite often.
As for the leaderboard, as I’m sure you’re aware by now, it’s a total joke. And sadly because you’re #1 and people don’t actually know you, they’re gonna flame you for playing turret engi :/
People flame you for 3 reasons:
1)they hate your build..this also applies to any engi build cuz people don’t understand engis so they tend to lose to them..also to rangers and d/d eles..turret has the advantage of being hated by both your own team and the enemy
2)they think you play badly
3)general rudeness
Besides playing a proper build like condi or cele, all I can say is never try to revive yourself. Exceptions are:
1)if some ally heals you
2) if you are on a node that’s neutral or your team’s in an attempt to delay the cap or if the score is close..but generally you should never use bandage alone or people will let you get to 99% and then hit you again..
3)if you know you will get rallied..similar to point 2..if the enemy is down and almost dead but you are also down it’s worth to use a combination of bandage and other downstate to get yourself up..
These situations except number 1 are rare.
You will never learn pvp by playing turrets. If you wanna improve try an easier build like d/d or staff ele, cele engi or shoutbow war. They are strong and easy to play. You learn a lot more by moving around the map.
Well stop playing 40 matches a day. Do some hotjoin, if you really can’t do without playing all day and night. Or… bite the bullet and take the hate.
HI, I’m new to PVP and trying it out. Any tips or advice on how to play?
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
That’s dumb to flame someone for their build. It’s also dumb if you poured flame on the fire. That being said good luck I hope you stay in first for a long time people should not judge based on a build if you want to be on top make your own cheese build.

Keep playing turrets if that’s what you like. People are just mad the build is OP. But why should that stop you? Any tryhard meta D/D ele could switch to staff rather then cry about your build. Warriors can get a longbow ect. Rangers have 1800 range bug. Rotations are a thing, ect. Its all fair game.
Ignore them and enjoy.

I don’t really think it’s OP. It’s the easiest for sure. Any good player can definately destroys them (hell, you only need to destroy the rocket turret) especially ele staff (from my experience). It can clear all turrets in a single meteor. I don’t understand why people hate it because it’s easy LOL. They can just roll turret engi if they envy about the easiness of it (I guess it’s like black wing to some people LOL). Well, except the people who stack 3-5 turret engis together. It’s truly cancer. I don’t think a pug team can face it properly.
Actually I learnt a lot from playing turret engi. I learnt how to rotate better since it’s the weakness of turret engi, which point to attack at first (once a turret engi lose, it’s very hard to regain the area/point), hiding on LoS since the ambush on turret engi is powerful, and many small stuff (skipping svanir, using treb, skipping ferocity, getting tranquility at 8:30, focus the necro!, holding two points is enough, etc) since the strategy for playing it is so simple and I can focus on other stuff. The only problem that I have is I don’t know what to dodge or how to dodge properly since I haven’t played all classes so usually I waste my dodges. But people hate this build, so I guess I have no point here.
On a little note, there are some people abusing flying turrets. Have people reported it? I confronted 4 turret engis that abused this bug.
