Hello,
I was just wondering with all these patches and updates, when will you get round to changing/improving the sigils and runes. I can understand that some runes are meant to be better than others, but 90% of the sigils are barely used and/or are noticeable in their effect. An example is sigil of frailty. Alot of classes can apply vulnerabilty but I would choose sigil of doom over sigil of frailty (+20%vulnerability). Maybe increase this % so that it allows classes to make to builds not only depending on traits, runes and amulet but also on weapons and the stats they inflict. Which could lead to an Increase in build diversity.

You are very wrong in your assement that people are neglecting the remainder of the runes (90% as you called) because they are weak. The runes are not weak. People ignored them because that’s what the pro said. Let’s say anet decide to buff the rune you have just listed, once buffed a pro might give it a shot. Depending on his result, he will convince his followers that frailty is the new holy grail. As a result 99% of his followers will use that runes because it’s what the pro player uses.

Example, the build im running currently uses Rune of the Tempest (im a warrior) Also running the trait Rousing resilience, which gives a total of 5k HP per stunbreak! This rune is seen by many to be totally rubbish. But works for this one build

I’d agree to a lot of useless sigils and runes. Rune of Fire, Sigil of Accuracy- those are good examples of pointless.

My bad i should have just said that % was not accurate. If people want to follow pros that’s fine. But for the rest who want to make different builds, the improvements on certain sigils could diversify builds. Which is why I stated as an example the usage of sigil of doom over something like sigil of frailty. Also I didn’t state any runes but some could use some improvement. Some that offer 1s effect for a cool down of 60s-90s. With all these updates and balances, why leave out other sigils( not including the nerf on energy and might)

There’s a lot of good runes and sigils that complement many builds, but because ESL/Pro players have their own builds that people copy and make meta it’s hard to see any of the other components in use.

I mostly play for the new Free-For-All arena in PvP lobby.

Sephiroth, can you tell me you see yourself EVER taking Rune of Fire? Ever? How about Sigil of Accuracy? Sigil of Earth? Nullification, Purity, Water, Renewal, Speed, and Hobbling? These aren’t just “oh a pro doesn’t use em, mernernerner, they’re bad” its “well jeez, these are all garbage compared to any other rune or sigil”. No one in there right mind (short of a troll build) picks those sigils. I can list Amulets and Runes too, believe me. I really want them to take a good hard look. Not just on bug fixing and updating skill facts (Sigil of Paralyzation, Berserker Runes, and Mesmer Runes- I’m staring at you), but which runes/sigils/amulets see no realistic use. I rarely see anyone yolo a Berserker Amulet or a Sinister Amulet. It sounds really nice, but short of a hyper organized group no one is that crazy with Thieves/Revenants/Engineers ready to shrek your day.

I hope devs will care enough to at least make the customizations serious. Right now it makes me cry inside when I see all those bugs and inconsistencies.
