How often do you look at it?

I love statistics and I’ll happily take all that I can get. The death breakdown we are provided in pvp is fantastic but I seldom look at it as I’m usually too engrossed in the match to care why I died. I feel that after making the death breakdown a click-able action instead of popping up in your face, it has been forgotton.

It’s such a great tool that I’m wondering if there could be a better way to promote it. Perhaps we could incorporate it into pve and wvw, or allow us to see each death breakdown after the match to look back on what happened?

It’s a great tool I’d love to see it used more. As it is now, it kind of feels like wasted code

The button could be more flashy I suppose. I generally only open it when I get destroyed on glassy builds to see what to avoid next time.

Personally I think that UI needs an overhaul and the damage history doesn’t seem to accumulate everything correctly. (may need to extend record length)

It feels like it’d be more useful if it were smarter at working out why I died. It would be very helpful if, instead of showing me just a list of damage numbers, it made some intelligent guesses as to which ability really did me in – if they stunned me and burst me down during the stun, I care much more about the stun than about the burst. Did I take way more condition damage than I should have?

Also, to steal an idea from other games, show something good I managed to do before I died. Am I leading on captures? Did I kill that one enemy? Takes the sting out a bit.

Maybe change conditions to account for time, at least for duration stacking conditions. For example, “burn for 60 seconds” instead of “burn for 63 ticks” or whatever.

Just put in what claæs ended up making the difference doing the deed. That way people can at least accurately direct their hate and nerf cries.

If you want to prove yourself a true coding whiz, single out what “build” the class was running.

“You were owned by a turret Engie”
“CeleEle just ruined your day”
“You must be an IP Mesmer cause you just got rekt by a (anything)Thief”

100% agreed OP. I just forget about it all the time. And every time i think, ah kitten , forgot to check it again. I wish it would just pop on screen after your death.

Or let us set up 2 combat tabs – one for outgoing and one for incoming. Then, collectively, there would be more history in the buffer. Every time I create a second combat tab, it gets deleted when I relog.

It is either burning, poison + 3 random things or air sigil, fire sigil + 3 random things most of the time; If a build has access to bleeding that is usually the thrid consistent damage source.
The calculation of condition damage seems to not work properly and not take condition removal into account, or the condition damage from berserker builds is absurd.

It’s probably beneficial for PvP, but PvE and WvW…not so much, I could really care less how I died in PvE(besides, I can usually tell this just from the combat log), it doesn’t affect anything.

The UI should be more of a ranking, with the player that did the most damage to you being listed at the top, and a dropdown list of all the damage they did to you in the order that it happened (their last skill used on you listed at the top), followed by a list for the next player. You should be able to view this information somewhere in the scoreboard when you revive too (I always feel like I rez before I have time to gather anything useful from the death breakdown log). Also, kill count should only be given to the player with most damage on target and the player who got the stomp.

Maybe keep the UI to the right instead of in the middle of the screen. Any UI that pop and stay in the middle of the screen is annoying and it is even more annoying when you can not do anything about it. And give us an option “Always hide” or “Always show”

use ‘top dmg by player’ or whatever it was actually called
it’s way richer than usual and you can see who was real harm for you, no need to upgrade that
as for visilibity – it used to be more noticeable once, but they got rid of that, dunno why
