Defensive builds, even more worthless

You have several blocks and invulns which alone should make the combat longer than a few seconds.

I guess you’re not refering to pre-patch Celestial meta? Since there was not a single ‘indestructible bunker’, and if you had feeling that they are ‘indestructible’ you’re the one bad here…
There is also chance you’re refering to older ‘bunker meta’, however nobody is asking about return of that one.
Well since there is absolutely zero purpose to running to running bunker in Stronghold, of course defensive build are useless. I just joined the first round as a bunker Necro and I noticed that within the first minute of the fight. I have no purpose there, none whatsoever. I cant defend anything, I cant hold anything and classes which thrive in a wide combat area turn into complete faceroll (Mesmers most obviously). You cant do jack kitten against them. At least in Conquest their stealth (and Thieves) is balanced by the fact that being you cant cap a point while stealthed.
So again, of course they are worthless. I hope Anet either allow us to save two seperate builds for the maps or have separate queues because it aint going to be fun joining on a bunker build in Stronghold.

If you want to run something tanky, use celestial ele.
-superior mobility
-superior survivability
-good damage

Bunker guard is bad at any gamemode (sPvP) and any other bunker build is even worse. It’s always funny to see bunkers on the enemy team because they’re just useless, on your own team not so much though.

Bunkers are boring to play on and play against. just no. don’t make them more survivable. 1 person can’t kill a bunker as of now anyway and its bad enough

I’m running in Stronghold and Defensive builds are worthless. Even my tankiest Guardian just get’s eaten alive. Can we get some sense of balance between offense and defense? If you go all in for defense, you should be pretty much indestructible. Though, at the same time you should not be able to do much, if any, damage at all. This is what I would call a good “balance” in combat.
Anyone else think this offense is out of control? That fights lasting longer would be more enjoyable and skillful? That being able to tank up would be fun too?
do you not know of focus and mace? You get 4 blocks with that alone and if you go shelter and renewed focus its another couple of seconds so im questioning your tankiest guardian
You should be invincible if you stat full defense? Sir, I’m sorry, but the system wouldn’t allow for that. It’d be interesting to see a tdm where tank guardians/warriors with tons of taunt basically force people to focus them, but being unable to push you off point at all or needing the ENTIRE team to take you out is ridiculous. By your reasoning, full DPS characters should one shot the entire team all the time.
We don’t need any immovable objects.

Also, Turai’s carapace skill stacks very nicely with a crap load of guardian traits.

Sorry but cele ele is trash in this mode. Mobility/stealth/range wins pretty much. And who else excels in this non other than mesmers. Its just bullkitten how anet failed to overseer this matter, and still not doing anything about it. GW2 stealth and instant cast has never been something I like, and now anet is kittening themselves up with balancing through this kitten. Its like nothing they do will matter since the mechanic of certain classes is just too broken in certain area.
Defense is weaker than attack after last patches. All power and condition builds kill everyone too fast, even the bunkers… balance is bad at the moment. Most of the fights end up too soon there is no time for counter play.

Just because you are good at copying and pasting a stupid comment doesn’t make it less stupid or true.
Some balance does seem a little messed up. You should not be able to dish out insane damage while still being really difficult to kill. I’ve seen this problem a few times since the patch from Warriors and Necromancers, just to give some examples.

They compressed traits and then gave everyone the ability to spec fully into 3 lines. They bumped up damage by uncapping condis and making more of them stack instead of duration. They slipped upwards stats to “balance” the fact that specs don’t give stats any more. They gave people less options in general meaning there are fewer people who will have variety and everyone will run an optimal build.
The end result is MUCH bigger dps on every hit. Increasing tough/vit/healing doesn’t scale the same as the increase to power/condi-dmg/prec/fer… So, defensive builds intending to hold a point are dead against a single opposing player now instead of 2-3. And zerging points lets you put the other team into downtime MUCH faster than spreading out and rotating. While they’re down, you cap quietly and move on. It takes them too long to recap solo and by running as a group you’re all sharing swiftness, etc.
Add some new access to quickness and super-speed and it’s zerg, zerk, or be killed.

To a point I agree…. Damage needs to dial down a little, or defense needs to be buffed a little….
I see a lot of references to stronghold, Stronghold is designed for mostly ranged and stealth classes at this point, I’ve watched countless staff eles and longbow rangers do nothing but sit back and defend from distances while mesmers and thieves run around ganking each other with 0.5-3s fight durations…
