Desertion - change of rules for season 4 ?
I really wanna support the OP on this one.
It happens to me and others I play with occasionally. It’s one of the perks of living in an area with dodgy connection. I completely understand why dishonour is there, but I agree that if the match can be won in the end it only encourages the DC from returning and saves your team from wasting the entire match fighting pointlessly.
If you win the game your team should be able to vote whether or not you get an abandon/dishonor imo. It shouldn’t be an automated system – sometimes your team just won’t care because they saw you played well the entire time you WERE in the match and most people generally understand that DC’s are uncontrollable. You can also DC at the very end and get an abandon too can’t you? Which means your team would be like “Huh, he/she was here all along and healed me, downed this person, ressed me, etc, I want them to be rewarded too!”.

That’s a very good suggestion, actually. +1

-1. Think the system is good as is if anything increase the dishonor time. If you aren’t playing for 2 minutes on a game that is on average 8 minutes you don’t deserve the win. Don’t need more people who’s “modem crashed” when the game isn’t going their way. If your ISP is so bad that you are dropping 3-4 times a day you should stick to unranked, or be forced to play on a team of people with intermittent connections.
I disagree. Kind of.
If your team can win a game while a person has been disconnected, they should receive pips, instead of having pips unchanged due to desertion. The person who disconnected should be labeled as deserter, because they did, and lose pips because of it. You left the team to 4v5 for X minutes and their extra effort made them win the match.
Hey,
Just a small message for the PvP developers.
I am wondering if there is any chance to change the rules for season 4.I had a dc during a game (my router suddenly shut down and I had to start it again). I came back in the game, fight hard with my team, we won each teamfight and finally the game.
But at the end I had the chance to see that I had dishonor and lost a pip. (goodbye winstrike)If I leave a group in purpose, I get it, I should loose a pip, have dishonor but I came back, I fought, I won, I did a great job and for what ? Nothing…
Any chance pips are lost only if you don’t come back in the game before the end ?
I mean… What’s the point of coming back in the game if you already know you’ll loose everything ? This is a bit weird for me.
Cheers
There is a lot of people who disagree, that’s ok I understand their bitterness. But it doesn’t change anything, the DCing player will still return and keep playing regardless of others feelings, really because they don’t care about others opinions simply because it can’t be helped. So what’s the value in making a game more frustrating than it needs to be, even if it is only for 1 out of 20 customers?
OP similar thing happened to me. We were winning 100-0 about 2 minutes into the game, GW2 locked up hard crashed my computer. I come back its 120 to 180 us and our team is 3 capped. We bring it back and win 500 to about 350 with me having second most points in the game. I get desertion and lose pip and winstreak.
Desertion does nothing to stop the trolls who stand in base or just leave never to return. They plan on losing a PIP anyways when they do that. It just punishes the players who actually get kicked off the game for some reason out of their control and come back to help. Might as well just stay DC’d and download a game that doesn’t eat kitten. #salted

I think they do need to be more understanding where there are DCs. The problems come when people who know their internet has been unstable and continues to be so go and try a ranked match. But its impossible to tell those people from the person that’s been completely internet stable all day and then gets a spike in PvP.
But something needs to be done, ESPECIALLY when we run tests and its NC soft side issues and not the individual.

Not looking for excuse. I agree with you, you shouldn’t try ranked if you’re someone with a lot of DC. In my case, it was the first DC in … 6 months. I was away around 4minutes (I think, maybe less) on a 15 minutes games. (yep, my games are very long). My team even said it wasn’t my fault and I did well when I came back. Even my team didn’t care about my DC, only the game and this rule.
Because right now, in ranked, if you can come back after 2 minutes, don’t even try… You’ll earn nothing at the end (if you win). Spend you’re next 15 minutes (rest of the game + dishonor) on something else.

In my case, my team were loosing when I was away, the enemy team almost came back in the game. When I came back, it was fair fights and we were better than them at teamfight so we won. I see the point here but it doesn’t work every time. We won because we were 5 players, not because they survive 3 minutes without me.
