Designated offense + defence team
Seems def is the way to go
Would make it easier to bo… play.
Is it just me who thinks it’d be more fun to have a designated offence and defence team for stronghold?
Couldn’t you just do that with your team? That’s literally what I discuss with my team at the start of every match. Who does what and where.

very good point but I found that it’s actually very difficult to get organized with public players, especially because some players are resistant to defending (kinda like how like everyone wants mid / ranged dps in League of Legends).
It’s very easy to get organized if you have an arranged team, yes. But almost impossible in a public team (it’s hard to get pubs to defend home as it is, in conquest).
Fortunately for me, I’ve been encountering players who have listened to all my strats. But yes, it is quite hard when people think they can deviate from the plan and then they fall flat on their face.

IMO, the only designation offense should be the shoutbow while the designated defense should be s/d thief or d/p thief as long as they have shortbow.
Why?
Shoutbow has tons of support, they have stability, and they don’t die easily. They can take supply run back, give swiftness to creeps go back to mid, heal people up, cap supply and repeat.
Thief should be defense because they are closer to the treb and they have high dps. Their job is to kill doorbreakers and archers really fast and then go back to the treb to attack mid.

I know gw2 has no trinity but it would be great if we got queue options like offense + deffense. Same principle trinity games have but slightly altered, it would prevent unbalanced teams build wise. On the other hand, some people might experience way longer queues.
I think having designated offense and defense would help the mode significantly. Team Fortress 2 uses this kind of play brilliantly, with quality matchmaking too.
Then again, that old game does so much right in PvP that GW2 gets wrong, it’s kind of unfair to compare them (unfortunately).
This suggestion would basically be Fort Aspenwood from GW1, which I should point out was a successful and fun game mode to play. I personally think having both teams defending and attacking simultaneously makes for much more tactical play between fixed teams, but splitting offence and defence could be beneficial for teams that aren’t premade.

This. PUGs will need a lot of love in this mode. Really. A lot.
