Developing SPvP in Reverse Order
We share these feelings.
We share these feelings.
I was at dinner tonight and I was watching Jacobin’s video on the death-spiral of PvP while waiting for our other guests to arrive. She asked me what I was watching and I told her. She said, “Isn’t that the game that you wouldn’t shut up about for forever. You’re already not liking it?” I had to tell her that my frustration was that I really really enjoy the gameplay. The foundation is incredible. What’s holding it back should seemingly be easy to fix if they would add development time to it. Instead of focusing on those things, we get responses like “well, we agree and one day we’ll get those in, but right now our focus is on (some feature that you have to pay for).”
Frustrating.
Doesn’t seem like the free to play model is working out too well for them. If they can’t monitize, the game will be over anyway.
Nothing is ever good enough for anyone anymore, because expectations have grown way past the entitled, spoiled, and impatient attitudes that are now the standard in gaming in our maturing youth, and our immature veterans.
It’s even more evident in that most of the people posting about hate the game/quitting the game keep posting here, and the topics that make an attempt to spur constructive ideas get scrolled off the first page with repeated thief complaint posts. And when thiefs get nerfed, it will just be another profession.
If you don’t like the game, quit… there’s no need to make an annoucement. When you do, it seems like an attempt at just getting attention, or in some way thinking you are influencing Anets stance on the game. There are still hundreds of PvP server games going on nightly even with the game “dead”. That’s a kitten good sign if you ask me.
What you’ve done, though, to your credit, is run most of the people who want to actually discuss PvP constructively and improve at PvP off of these boards, as all of our posts get rendered useless when they are smothered in repeated spam posts about the same things. Bravo and congrats for that, you make it impossible for people who like this game to use these forums, and for that, I guess you win.

I don’t even know what to say to that. I take it from your post you’re 100% happy with the game. And if you’re not, you take the mindset of “Shut up and take it like a man.”
Ok, good for you. Feel free to leave this post and move on to the one where thieves and mesmers talk about how perfectly balance their class is. Because, that seems to be the only posts I see you actually rear your head in. At least I didn’t get your usual “L2P” response that you post. /shrug
Edit: btw, the reason most of the “this game is great!” or the “please don’t nerf X class, they are balanced” threads don’t make it on the first page long is because the people who view the game that way are the very very small minority. I am not saying my opinion is right or yours is wrong, we each have tastes, which are clearly different. But I can tell you without doubt that the majority of the people feel the way I do. Many post on the forums back up this view, but even worse…most of them have just flat out left the game and never posted.

Untrue. It’s just the view of this board. You’ll notice the same names pop up again and again in the complaining posts. There are other boards, thankfully, that don’t suffer from this, but I have more accesss to this site from my workplace and I like to read the forums on my breaks, but I can’t get to any useful info, just complaining. By the same couple dozen of you.
And at this point, even if you are right and everyone hates the game… why are you STILL posting on these boards? Do you think that if you keep spamming that things will happen faster? And why do you threaten to quit constantly but still linger?
These are the things that are making the sPvP forum unusable by the other PvPers who enjoy the game. It’s not about it being perfect, some of us just like to have fun and play competetively, even with the flaws. But there is no chance right now on these forums of many productive posts about strategy developing for very long before more airing of grievances.

I don’t believe that I’ve ever once said that “i’m going to quit”. In fact most of my posts have nothing to do with me hating the game, it’s the exact opposite. I love this game. I hate that it has been hindered by some seemingly simple solutions. I hope you don’t mistake players like me – who make genuine complaints in hopes that the devs take it to heart- as people who hate this game, because you would be drastically wrong. I sure don’t take players that say they love the game as blind fanboys. We each love the game but are having different experiences. You’re fine with the current direction and many of us are not.
And, if you think that people on the forums are making people quit then you may be delusional there. People quit because something isn’t fun, not because some guy on the forums said he doesn’t like the game.

The overflow of those kinds of posts are running people off the forums, not the game. I think I actually defended that the game is still doing pretty well compared to other games of similar type I’ve played in that I can always get some sort of match and play instantly.
And when I said “you” quitting I was meaning it in a rhetorical or broad sense at those posting things like that on these boards, as if I was aiming it at that audience. I apologize if that came across as directed at you personally.
