What up with the mesmer phantasmal nerf and aoe nerf. My guess it is all pvp related, if so can we please get a separate skill set since now anet have started the balance patch for pvp but not fixing all the bugs related to our skill that have been there since BWE.
My guess:
Chaos Armor: Decreased recharge to 35 seconds.
Chaos Storm: Increased recharge to 35 seconds.
was changes due to chaos armor up time from combo finisher that will be a problem in pvp!
Phantasmal Warlock: Increased recharge to 20 seconds.
Phantasmal Duelist: Increased recharge to 20 seconds.
Phantasmal Swordsman: Increased recharge to 18 seconds.
Was due to mass horde of bandwagon swarming to mesmer to troll everyone with phantasmal spam and hide tactic.
Then what about the real players that does both, now we that main mesmer have even tougher time that phantasm are a big source of our dmg and they practically get 1 shotted in pve the moment they appear. That not the only problem with the buggy traits and skill that don’t apply fury, retaliation, and regen when traited or super delay of the hp buff signet that doesn’t apply till the phantasm get hit once. This will probably make us really weak against pve setting and bigger pvp group settings.
So can Anet pls at least justify or explain to the mesmer community(those that really play and love mesmers and not the bandwagon that swarm over for pvp), what makes Anet implement this changes.
TL:DR: Nerf/balance skill for 1v1 pvp, than what about everything else. Is 1v1 > everything else the game of mesmer have to offer.
You’ll actually have to think and move in PvE now, enjoy the diversity!

Pls also don’t post that this is a pvp game, then i would ask why even bother making a pve part for the game and from my experience, pve draws more income vs pvp. In pvp there nothing a pvper will buy from gem store, why should they bother.

Phantasm spam isn’t even the problem in PvP, this is basically a straight pve nerf. Extended/sustained dps in dungeons/events just got more complicated and no bugs were fixed. Yeah, I’m not very excited about this patch.

Then they should fix the encounter, if you mean that phantasm was nerf due to that. 80% of DEs have a lot of aoe except some bug encounter like CM hound event where i could have 3 duelist raining down on it with bleeds becuz the AI is so stupid that he stand stationary there while most other bosses wipe our phantasm the instant they spawn or even get another 1 up.
This nerf is just bad.
Now people can 1 hit our phantasms once every 20 secs? ok?

I got to agree, this adjustment did nothing for our PvP performance. Those who were dieing to phantasems were not clearing them properly to begin with and the cooldown was a moot point.
All this did was make the 20% Cooldown trait on illusion summoning skills even more mandatory for Mesmers than it already was, and people will STILL complain about Mesmers being OP for all the wrong reasons.
For stating that they did not want to play wack-a-mole with gaming balance, they sure seem to be doing so, and while blindfolded at that.
These changes should not have been made before the traits were working properly. This is pretty big PVE nerf for a class that isn’t exactly PVE-brilliant.
Consider how Phantasmal Healing still triggers improperly for different Phantasms. The one Phantasm that triggered it reliably was Duelist which got a CD increase. Duelist is also one of the better ways to stack Confusion, a still mostly lame condy in PVP or PVE.
There’s just so much that needed to be done before these changes could be put in and it not hurt the class. While Chaos Shield was very good in spvp, it is one of the few support abilities offered by Mesmers in general. You nerf access to it and then a weak-support class is that much weaker.
Overall, most spvp probelms with the Mesmer come from the very design of the class. If they want to fix it, they need to overhaul the class and move away from illusion-dependency.

What happen to your principle Anet, that you are to flush out the bugs before doing the balance. Balance should also be made that it balance both pve and pvp if you still hold dear that it should not be a dual function on our skill in pvp and pve( no separation of skill in both scenarios).
Please don’t break your promise to fulfill something that need more time and effort for in to be done, what i mean is E-sport. E-sport will be there when you are closing to the game you intended it for, let the elitetist wait, they will flock back here when $$$ is involve.
Please fix bug 1st before anything else get the balance hammer!!!!
You can’t even balance without the bugs fixed first. You don’t know how the Phantasms properly work with working traits. Whatever changes they make now will have to be changed later when the traits actually work.
It’s really dumb.

As I see this update, it’s a stall to prevent the infestation of mesmers and thiefs that are currently IG. That’s obviously not the final plan for every class. Especially since every class has lots of bugs on traits and skill. That’s not a valid argument.
Of course, being nerfed hurts. But balance will come (hopefully), you can’t just say it’s unfair.
@LonelyReaper: Everyone knows that mesmers are broken in 1v1 and pvp , they need alot more nerfs then this , ppl qqed about thiefs after they pretty much nerfed heartseeker now they nerfed p/w I hope to see alot more mesmer nerfs. And in regard of the pve vs pvp argument gw1 was a pvp game this leaves gw2 still a pvp game with a touch of pve do your homework next time before you post a qq thread.
I don’t think you understand PanH. This change will do little to help bad players against Mesmers. The problem they have with Mesmers is born of the very design of Mesmers. Number tweaks will do nothing to help that.
The issue is that you can’t approach the idea of balancing individual skills for endgame pvp without making sure that the traits tied to them are working properly. You have no baseline. Once traits are working properly, then you can balance both the skills and the traits themselves. Right now, you are working off data and feedback tainted by bugged traits.

I agree with the OP and bug fixes for skills and trait should take the priority before the game starts to address with balance changes. I’ve endured another full week for the hope that the new patch will have some bug fixes in Mesmer traits, but utterly to my disappointment I saw zero fix in bugs this week.

This is obvious that the endgame balance is not here. Then why nerf ? To provide a more balanced game until the game finally get more balanced. It’s not perfect, it’s a stall.
And mesmers are far from being the class that need the most bugfixes.
It’s not more balanced though. This is born of pvp, but the people having struggles with Mesmer in pvp are struggling with the very nature of how Mesmers work. Longer CDs won’t stop the Phantasm builds in pvp, but they will hurt the Mesmer in PVE where Phantasms die often to mobs and random AOE.*
*They die often to random AOE in PVP as well, but I guess that weakness hasn’t caught on with the greater playerbase.

Mesmers are regarded as the worst pve class for a reason. Most of the outrage is for pve, not pvp. This “nerf” hardly affects pvp at all really. The only people who think it does are the ones who had no idea how mesmers worked in the first place.

@offence: sry it’s classify as a pvp game, yes becuz the str of the game they promoted is pvp, but regardless it is a mmo. They also stated that they do not want separate skill effect for pvp and pve means they need to get their act right and have them both balance before rolling them out and not a knee-jerk nerf that they say their refraining from having it.
The mesmer that are complaing are just playing the whole class wrong.
They just have to realize this class is not meant to be played past level 2 when you finish the tutorial.
Then you go to Spvp and other people will complain how strong you are because you are not a simple upfront damage class.
So of course now mesmer are complaining that the have a hard time geting more than bronze on orr events and can only dream of getting any loot. But they are not supposed to, otherwise the dev wouldn’t have nerfed the DPS of the least played class in the game.
So smart up mesmers and don’t try to get your 3rd level.
