Recently in PvP matches i am in with necros, They seem to be doing a amazing amount of damage. Am i missing something or did they randomly just get more powerful out of no where. Lich form has been a issue for a while ik, like seriously, you cant survive this thing if its randomly just popped out of no where. Unless your a class that can reflect some projectiles…but 2 seconds doesnt really help much unless the necro is low.

But ontop of that, there down state damage is also pretty amazing when it comes to damage. This was a top notch surprise for me seeing as a skill that heals would even be able to do so much damage.

Also adding that Death shrouds 1 ability does so much damage as well as soaking up hits for an auto attack.

Can anyone tell me about whats happened since 2014?

Lich form is no problem for skilled players. They can avoid it and can counter it. Also Lich got a nerf 2014.

They fixed downstate to work as it should. but i getting stealth , quickness stomped a lot anyway so doesn’t really matter.

DS 1 have to do good damage because its a slow casting skill can be easily avoided and countered by skilled players.

Guessing that means to save up at least one dodge for when its hit and seek cover right away :P Half the time it becomes a game of hide and seek if i can escape lol.

Down state damage was broken this entire time? After 1 got drained in a 2v1 while trying to stomp another enemy and went down, that drain cut my hp down like a chainsaw.

Also i dont really know about life blast being a slow skill. But thats just me >_<

yes you can use Line of Sight and most professions have good mobility ( not like necromancers) and can get away easy so you wasted a 3min cd then.

Down state was not affected by traits. it’s fixed now.

Life Blast is slow skill and have to face target.

Lich got a huge buff from the stability changes. Before, it was pretty trivial to strip off the naked stability and CC-chain them into uselessness; now, with pulsing stability, it’s much harder to shut down the lich and that thing hurts.

Its very correct. It’s one of the easiest down states to stomp, with maybe only engi being even worse. Warrior is bad too but they can at very least get up and banner, red or stomp someone before they die.

it’s still incorrect right now. Downstate necro is a lich. Power necro with cod,ctd,de wrecks. Might be easy to stomp but in the current meta cleave is usually what drops people in big teamfights. If you wanna cleave the necro that’s fine but you better hope he doesn’t get a cod proc. You almost HAVE to safe stomp necros now. this was not the case just a few weeks ago.

Dedicating 2 people to stomp a power necro who is probably melting someone at the same time seems like a pretty decent tradeoff especially if the power necro is decent. I watched some necro speed something fight 2v1 drop wells get downed and kill the theif and guard he was fighting.

I’m not saying necro downstate is the best but it’s hardly the worst anymore. This was not the case a few weeks ago.

I’ll just leave it here and say that my elite hits for 0 dmg in 10 seconds every 180 seconds.

As someone mentioned earlier, the pulsating stability just makes it worse.

You were getting hit by 3 people….. you were probably going to die even if the lich wasn’t hitting you, but if you didn’t know there is an easy way to deal with lich. Run under the lich and make sure you stay just slightly behind and under the lich. Only thing he can hit you with is marks.

On a side not just be glad you never played agaisnt the old power necro with ctd,cod, air sigil, fire sigil, air rune. If everything procced you were dead. No matter what.

Yes, I was going to die no matter what. I was at tranquility when they all came down. Either way, 15k damage in… 3 bleed tic? I play mesmer and none of my elites do any damage at all.

well as a thief, lich do me 9k in one auto, but that’s nothing new.
only news is they fixed downstate so now downstate does amazing damage.

Under and behind try it. he can use marks. And he can try about facing but since your pretty much under him you can keep getting behind.

Lich can fire deathly claws behind.

A lot of Power necros are now using the +50% damage when downed trait because it synergizes extremely well with other traits in the line that are usually taken on Power builds. If they get you below half while downed, you are in for a world of hurt as Chill of Death procs with +50% damage from being downed and +20% damage for you being under 50% (total multiplier of 1.8). Downs most targets extremely fast when that happens.

It compensates the lack of stomp mitigation.

Yeah…Im pretty sure Elementalist / Mesmers have it far worse.

Elementalist : Half the time wont immobolize, using vapor form can get you killed as well as you cant do any other skills after you come out of it for a few seconds which doesnt really matter much since theyl probably be ontop of you.

Mesmer : You have a mark over your head showing which one is you, sometimes you dont go anywhere when you press 2. Skill 3 can get instakilled, and sometimes doesnt show up behind the target.

Yet there down damage isnt even that high to a point where they can down someone and possibly drain the target to death.

Mesmer is indeed the worst , but don’t underestimate the vapor form of the elementalist. Being able to move in downstate to a location where you can get rezzed easier is quite valuable.
