Disconnect and Ranked [Vote it]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKBKak4gU0g
Woah, a 2-3 days ban from PvP due DC (lets say ISP problem) is way too overboard.
1 hour should be more sufficient.
Either a problem on ISP’s end or rage, 1 hour cooldown is good.
Here’s a question: how can you determinate the disconnection’s cause?
Personally, i doubt you can make a script which “prove” that you had a legit disc or not ( maybe am i wrong? ).
Btw it will be something like 3/5 disc over 3 days.
I think, if your connection is ok, it can happens 1 time per week ( talking about spvp, not wvw events or massive events which can cause your game to crash ).
Otherwhise simply you shouldn’t play ranked, cause is better to let 4 ppl to enjoy a game than 1. Unless you have a premade ofc.

Well, there is a way through logs if player dc’s from internet or player closed the game.
But there’s an easy to by-pass this aswel by just unplugging your Ethernet cable, sadly.
Yeah that’s it.
What i’m saying is “i would be ok if i had a bad connection and they decide to punish all playeres who disconnect”.
To hit the problem you have to hit more?
I would be ok with this ( i would work to fix my connection, or change pc ).

1 hour is not good – it should be a meaningful period.
If someone has ‘issues’ that cause them to rage quit often, then I would suggest that playing pvp probably isn’t good for them and removing them for a fairly lengthy period would be in their best interests.
If someone has Internet connection problems, then they shouldn’t be playing Ranked.
As for AFK’ers – Anet needs to be acting on player reports, not ignoring them. In my experience over 50% of the time you get an AFK’er they have been abusing everyone on their team in chat before they decide to stand in base and generally announce they are doing so – so checking chat logs would be a simple solution. As to the punishment, where the above can easily be proven beyond doubt, they should be removed from PvP permanently.

And how would they know if they have connection issues before it happens? If it happens, it happens.
Also, mostly it’s not even client-side problem, but server side.
What you’re asking, is not possible, to know something before it happens. Especially with any online game, you can get kicked from server out of nowhere.
you can’t.
that’s why you have to do it.
also, if you have connection issues, do you really pretend to play and ruin a game to other players? I wouldn’t.

I don’t know if there is a way for anet to fix this problem 100% because I can forsee if any disconnect happens and you don’t lose a pip you can just ask an alt account friend to help you on your last 3 pips or so of your final division, if the game looks lost, alt acc friend disconnects modem, no pips lost and profit.

I’ve had periods where I’ve had Internet connectivity problems in the past which were ongoing, intermittent but persistent and anyone who has similar issues will be aware of them and can choose (like I did) not to play Ranked until they have contacted their ISP and got the issue sorted.
Like everyone, I do still get the very occasional modem DC and if the rules were that I got a 2-3 day ban when it happened – I would be happy to accept it because the game would be in a much better state.
As to server side disconnects or client crashes – Anet can easily determine if this is the reason and take no action.

I bet you wouldnt be happy if your modem dc’s once every few months and it just happens in a game. 3 day ban because of bad luck is very wrong and punishing.
Also no, server kicks/dc are also counted as “DC” in logs, unless they start scripting the results of the logs to see the difference and automate the ban depending on results.
Unless they ban manually, which they won’t.
