Anyone else feel like the majority of traits are kinda underwhelming? Some of the ones which help with ressurecting downed allies are decent, but there are also ones which are really bad- just take a look at Ranger ones: “Create a Spike Trap when reviving a downed ally” or “Grant Swiftness when reviving a downed ally”. These are really bad, bordering on entirely useless, and should at the least be merged together

Do you guys feel like falling damage traits and res traits even need to be in the game? I’d prefer if these traits were removed for the most part along with other traits which don’t do much.

There are a few exceptions, like Thief gaining stealth on fall damage is cool, and Guardian creating a Shield Bubble on res. These feel like they add interesting gameplay.

That’s kind of the way I’m leaning as well.

But if we are going to have res traits, they really need to bring something substantial to the table in regards to creating viable support builds.

I do agree but not all of them are lackluster too. The mesmer’s Medics Feedback is kinda nice specially when traited with blinds.

So you get reflects for ranged people and blind on melee people while ressing, On top of your invulns and stealths and couple that with runes of mercy.

The ranger one on the other hand is crap, if you also take in the consideration of the current status of traps.

Next one, the swiftness one, Why the hell would I want Swiftness to revive someone if You are on point.

Res traits are fine because ressing is such a core component of gameplay in every gamemode. As long as they increase res speed and provide some effect to help the res get off then I think they are a solid way for builds to pick up support.

However, falling traits just kinda suck. In PvP it is extremely limited to be able to make any use of fall damage traits, and in PvE it is basically meaningless because there isn’t falling involved with any of the more difficult encounters. So basically it is a trait that only works in WvW (where falling can kind of matter), and even then it is niche. This wasn’t a huge issue back when there were 6 options at the falling damage tiers, but now not only do we have half the options, but in some cases (Toxic Landing), potentially important traits are being merged into the falling traits instead of being made into good traits.

So it makes an entire tier an option of just 2 traits, plus can also make otherwise good traits not worth taking because instead of being wrapped in with another good trait, a good trait is mixed with a bad one.

Please gut these traits Anet. Rez traits could work if they’re rolled into something else, or if their actions make a significant difference like the guardian’s knockback…rezzing someone should turn the fight around.

On fall traits are really silly, please get rid of them.

The falling damage traits have some niche uses in jumping puzzles or on the WvW alpine borderland maps in the top area. For PvP I could not think of any uses. However, the traits are shared between all gamemodes so removing traits just because they are not viable in one gamemode is not a thing. There would not be many traits left if they did this.

Revive traits should all be rolled into one which is a choice in a support line.

Fall Damage traits should either be removed or merged into other minor traits. The fall damage reduction should just be a bonus – not the reason to take the trait.

The two issues I am seeing with the current changes coming are one some of the falling damage traits got additional effect rolled in while other are just taking up space. Second issue is somehow they keep two revive trait in ranger neither are really good, it is like they just don’t know what to do with the profession or don’t want to work on it,

Pets have been hidden due to rising Player complaints.

I just saw another very good suggestion in the general forums to make “Falling Damage” traits also trigger when you “fall into downstate”. This would at least give them more practical usage in most game areas.

falling damage traits rock in wvw, and with the new more vertical borderland they will be even more effective. the warrior one is even good for diving off walls into enemies due to the knock back.
