Dishonor system
Punishing someone for leaving a match in any game is stupid, regardless of the reason. People have lives to get on with and their life should come first, not the game, but punishing someone for unintentional disconnection is far worse.
Also I hate my user ID.

The game cannot tell the difference between you disconnecting deliberately and a disconnection due to a network problem.
I’ve known people pull out their network cable to cause an “accidental” disconnect. Hard to strike the right balance with dishonour systems.
On the one hand it’s good to stop grieving.
On the other, legitimate network issues cause unintended side effects.
That said, if one is frequently having network problems, and not absolutely everyone nearby is having those same problems, it’s likely not ANet’s fault, and one shouldn’t try to play competitively when undergoing network problems.
If I can think of one rule, it’d be that one doesn’t get punished when D/C’ing in a premade 5’s match; you’re certainly not going to grief your premade 5 team/friends, and there’s really not a way to grief opponents by letting them win easier :P

The problem is the CLIENT SUX game is unstable and too many ppl getting d/cs all the time , thats has nothing to do with network , its from the game itself. So that feels like " we have a kitteny server and its our fault u get d/c but get a punishment cause u d/c "
Is it a 45 minutes timeout? WTH Anet lol. And I thought the 15mins deserter from WoW is long.
The only DC’s I’ve experienced are when everyone else gets DC’d as well. Which hasn’t happened for a long time. As educated in networking as you sound, it’s safe to say that if no one else suffers the same connection problem as you, it’s something either on your network or something on the way to Anet’s servers.

Its nothing on my network since i dont encounter any problem at other games or on the web , the problem is with GW2 and its not only me. A lot of ppl have connection problems.
Sorry but the dishonour thing is good to stop greifing/quitters, try to get a better connection.
May our BL break all foes. Fear our babou!

The part of your connection you control and monitor is fine.
Anet’s end seem fine as well. I practically never disconnect.
Thus, you may want to trace those packets down and see if they’re hitting roadblocks somewhere else. It isn’t anet’s job to troubleshoot your connection. They troubleshoot their own servers and incoming hubs. If it were a problem with their hub specifically, the vast majority of people playing with be getting frequent disconnects. This isn’t the case. (At least not on the US cluster, I don’t know about the EU one, and maybe it is really kitten)

from what my guildmates been telling me its been since the last update hopefully they will address this soon with another update
It’s a welcome change. They already have this in place in Guild Wars 1, and it’s a boon for those who play the game with no intention of sabotaging the game. I reckon this should be in place in every online game.
