Dissapointed With PVP
what i want:
1. pvp arenas
2. open world pvp. i don’t know how this would work, but i really love the concept of questing whilst being able to be attacked at any time.
i think if they created a map with open pvp minus the structure of wvwvw would be amazing. for example, they could create a map where players fight each other and there could be spawns of chests that contain loot or something. i think that would be really fun. it wouldn’t have the zerg of wvwvw as much i don’t think.

This sounds good, but imo is not what the game needs. First of all, questing solo is fairly hard, and rightly so. But when you then add the possibility of being attacked by other players at any time, then it gets down right impossible.
No, what I am thinking is Guild v Guild, maybe dueling, and just some more sPVP modes.
Apparently there’s to be a PvP update in the next month or two.

well yes that is true but gear in gw2 is not as important as it is in Aion and with the removal of rifting it killed pre-50 pvp.. so lvl 1-50 u saw 0 pvp and when u finally hit 50 and went into pvp areas with ZERO experience in it u got owned. it only created a new problem and only solved the temporary griefing of lowbie players but ruined pvp over all making many quit Aion..
For pvpers in general i find this games pvp sorely lacking, i hate pve in general and is one of the reasons i refused to buy this game. After a month of WvW boredom i quit and just play Spvp which after about an hour or 2 gets insanely boring.
What ever happened to GW2 being a pvpers game it was advertised as?

Yeah I have 2 level 30’s after a month of play. I haven’t touched my quests and never pve. The only thing I do now is WvW after I get bored of PvP.

yeah i went 1-80 in WvW basically as i found the pve to pvp way of games boring, which is why i spent alot of time on private servers pvping

Yeah, we really need an area where a guild can set up to farm solo players while they quest. I feel like everyone involved will enjoy this.
i’ve played many games where open world pvp existed and i’ve always enjoyed it tremendously. if you get ganked you call in reinforcements and it creates a massive battle.
of course they could also create some PVE servers for the carebears. or simply have it be a map you can choose to enter.

right cuz wut we REALLY want is to run in a circle killing npc’s and random zerg vs zerg events
So you guys want free for all? Because ffa will not work. For instance: I’m a level 50 running around doing quests and stuff. I am halfway done with a long, particularly hard quest and then someone comes and kills me for some exp. And then I have to restart the quest over and over again because people keep killing me. Who would want to be a part of that? Standing around waiting for someone to just randomly kill is hardly my idea of fun, and being the one to get randomly killed is not fun either. Even if there were no quests involved, and it was just a huge ffa, then it would be a blood bath and people wouldn’t even know what’s going on.

Break from the zerg sometime in WvW, it’s way more fun that way. There are many other potential PvP modes that aren’t as fail as the current SPvP format. None of them should be a ganker’s paradise.

Like you said, the actual gameplay mechanics are great, but the lack of features really drags the experience down.
Why would anyone want to implement random world pvp in the quest areas? There is sPvP and WvW. It makes no sense to change either of those systems for a couple of scrubs who like to gank questers and PvE carebears.
Put down your pitchforks and put your tin foil hat back on. I don’t know much about arena nets plan, but I do I know this kitten idea will never even be contemplated by them.
This game already has everything you have asked for. WvW is the ffa pvp environment, spvp is the totally level playing field small scale tactical pvp environment, pve questing outside of WvW is the “pve server”.
What the pvp side of the game lacks atm is a variety of different spvp modes, adding that would make the spvp part even more fun/interesting. Also the dev-team needs to find ways to encourage players to join tournaments because they are very slow to pop atm.

The issue of ganking still arises in this if many people choose to enter this mode instead of pve.

So then the people who love ganking will be able to and those who don’t want it don’t have to touch it at all since they don’t need to be pvp tagged. It’s all about options right? U won’t be ganked unless u put on that u want to be able to pvp, it’s almost the same as duelling only more dynamic.

The reasons why it won’t work because of the combat is as follows: It requires you to be in a group with many people who will most likely accidentally hit you and kill you while in combat. If you planed ahead for this somehow, (by making teams, which is not a ffa) you would essentially create tons of zergs and whoever is in the biggest zerg will win.

I disagree with u:) I think u are focusing way to much on the ganking and that is not my main thought about the mode, and i don’t like being ganked but with the scaling it won’t be so easy to gank. Yes there will always be someone that goes around in pvp to take single targets and that’s already happening in www and pvp, but with this u don’t have to turn it on if you are gonna do some boss fights or general pvp. It could even be unable to turn on before you reach lvl 30.
The grouping would work very well. Yes it would not work to run in zergs ofc and that’s the beaty of if, if i wanted to run in zergz and “whoever is in the biggest zerg will win” i would play www. Let’s say i want to run around with 3 friends and me and 2 of my friends want’s to tag themselves for pvp but the last one don’t want to pvp at all, that would still work fine and the one who is not tagged for pvp can then be able to watch the matches instead if there would be some.
Since i can hit my friends i would have to be better to communicate and position with them, but it’s the same in other games with friendly fire on.
But after reading your posts i understand that this mode is not for everyone of course. And as i said if it got in the game you are not forced to enable the tagging at all, but it’s a suggestion that i and maybe other people would like to see:)

no.. what you wold have is guilds camping chest spawn areas and no one else able to get them. would become guild zerg maps.
