Division "conveyor belt" effect
I see people posting that they win and then “get stuck” in a division where they are always placed a a team that loses.
I sounds like when you arrive at your “proper” division, you become the “conveyor belt” to push higher MMRs on towards their own “final destination” division.
As such, your team will lose constantly until there are no more “higher MMRs” to ram through your division. And eventually you will have 50/50 chance matches within your division.
If anyone other than Legendary Division is still playing Ranked, that is.
Not really. Having randomly bad team comp vs a better one is a problem, individual skill, this is a team game, the game matching low MMR teams vs High MMR teams. There is no “You belong where you are”. The people who think this are missing the whole.point of the league. And if people are where they should be after a week. Good Job ANet. You have made a league that is lasting a month longer than is needed. Everyone might as well stop playing.
This is what you are advocating. Queue times are getting longer as players burn out dew to lopsided match making, some will say it’s the player base spreading out, that is also true, but as more people stop playing as the hit the wall. Teams will find them self’s playing the same group of players. Some people have already said this is happening after one week.
ANets problem.is they want to grow new talent for ESL, so they put the back pack as the carrot to have people play, the league is one big reward track. Sure not everyone will finish it. But ANet want as big an uptake from the player base as possible. Sadly the system has failed and is driving some players from league play. The queue times show this to a degree. Also today I had 3 matches where I was with 3 of the same people, and the other team also had 2-3 of the same people, the team I was on won all 3 games, some where close, really close, but I bet the 2-3 same people who where facing the same people and losing where getting fed up with it.
There is only so.much people can take, everyone’s limit is different, but the end result will be the same, only the people riding high on the win wave will not see a problem, and believe there own hype that they are god like. I’m sure some of them are, but not all.

You, IMO, hit the nail on the head here. For some weird reasons players want this team achievement to be an individual recognition. It’s THEM that are the reason for their success or their failure not their TEAM even though they are only 1 out of 5 (meaning all things being equal 80% of the success or failure isn’t theirs) and have little control over whom they face (and in the case of soloq who they are paired with).
EDIT: I would also add that this individual thinking in a team setting is largely responsible for the season’s problem. We are sorted out based on an individual rating that is actually the result of a team rating. To work there should not be soloq as it utterly destroy the model viability. Only registered and stable teams should participate. Otherwise where you end up has not that much to do with you and how good you are.

Really? Do you realize that soloq people account for the vast majority of people playing ranked? So if Anet were to follow your advice it would be GG because the size of the population left playing ranked would be too small to be viable.
Individual skill does matter in this system, and part of the skill being measured is your ability to figure out how best to fit in with the team mates that you have for that match. People who are good at adapting will win more games on average than those who aren’t, and hence will have a higher MMR.
Sirbeaumerdier,
You make an important point. The MMR is a TEAM rating. It is your rating of how well teams you are on tend to do. But since the team makeups vary so much, it could take 1,000 matches of all kinds of teammates and compositions before it could know what your “team play MMR” really is. Not to mention if you play different classes as well!
I think the MMR is not very precise in such a fluid environment with so many kinds of teammates.
People want to know their MMR. In truth it is something like “somewhere between low and a little above average”, or “a 60% chance that is it rather high, but 40% chance you got carried”. Something like that.
It is certainly NOT 1252, or 957. It’s a range, not a precise number. Maybe in 1,000 matches it might be more like an actual, precise number.
It’s like, what’s your Raid group rating?

I do realize that. I’m not asking for this to happen btw. All I’m saying is that if you want that system to really work it is how it should be. If you don’t care about it working then just ignore what I said.
