Or do they just hope someone else will answer it? I can only hold out 2v1 or 3v1 for so long you know…

Most people are so tunneling on killing stuff that they forget that chat even exists. ZERG ZERG is obviously more important than winning.

I command you to be AWESOME.

Chat is usless. Ping the map for help. Works very often. I always look and try to help if someone ping the map.

Rarely will they in sPvP hot join versus say WvW. PVP is viewed by many as a more casual activity when you have some downtime.

As a result, people don’t pay too much attention to chat. Likewise, you get a lot of snarky people on chat in PvP complaining about everyone’s build, why they are not winning, how they are holding up the team (and then complaining when no one wants to be on their team). In short, it creates a situation where you just ignore chat.

Plus, chat in fast fights stinks. Voice would be better but it would have to be in game for a hotjoin.

I have found recently that chat is pointless however I do get a much better response when I ping the map. I think people are so caught up in playing typing is not practical. Pinging the map is the new “I need help button”.

That being said. Only thing I liked about pvp in Neverwinter was the build in chat they have. Worked awesome in pvp.

I think as well some people dont call for help very well. Often you will see a bunker spec class trying to tank mid, against one other player. Then another wanders in and starts to put the pain on the tank, at which point he is downed are near enough, THEN they call for help, at which point no one can get their fast enough. Then you have a strange situation in which most people come back but not in a group, so the 2 a point just keep downing players in singles, the odd time a bit of cross over but they normall have one down by that point.

At the same time though, the necro I play with will call for help when he is guarding home point as soon as he sees an enemy. Quite a few times I have rushed back only for a “lol sorry I thought it would be a hard fight, him having no health and me being a tank ug ug ug”.

Swings and roundabouts.
