Necromancer/Casual Warrior
[Team] Best WvW guild of all time. EASILY.
Its lame and pathetic. Fixing it should be a top priority.
Also please reset team ladder now.
Not gonna happen. When players called this out saying it was going to happen days before hand, Anet replied that it wouldn’t. So they think nothing is wrong.
I see #1 Eurantien has played 19 games and won all but 3.
It sounds suspicious.
Either he is getting a great team every time by chance, or he is amazing at carrying 4 other people.
…or he is sync Qing and getting with the same top people each time.
I do not know what his profession is.

No I am 10-1 without sync queuing. I sync queued first 3 games with 1 other person on an alt account to test it out. And it definitely works. Its lame and should be fixed.
When you see people 10-1 11-2 13-3 win/loss rati in solo que beyond stupid that means 100 percent sync.
well, ever since I had 6-1 I started getting total morons in my team, resulting in 6-7 right now so yeah…
To be honest at this stage it’s got to be part luck too guys. I just got unlucky with 4 times a hot join hero/noob team, then once we had a decent group and they were all hot join hero zerging the map (= free win). So…, I think at this stage luck and being unlucky are certainly a factor, not so much after 100 games though.

5-1, 6-1 maybe if you are pushing your luck extremely well 7-1. There is no way in hell people go 10-1 without sync.

You just said you sync 3 games. So who is to say that you didn’t sync more games?
Having a low population of pvpers creates a lot of issues that unfortunately cannot be solved without major inconveniences. I called the sync soloq problem 6 months ago.

I synced 3 on my alt (the 1st 3) just to check if it worked so I could post about it ont he forums. I repeat. I went 10-1 without syncing on my main. So your post is invalid to say you cant go 10-1 without syncing. Because you can and I did.

Quick solution, do character checks.
Is player 1 on player 2s friend list and vice versa
Are the 2 players from the same guild
This soloQ system is a failure…gz
Look at Smite’s system. You just queue and there’s a countdown starting every 10-15 minutes or so. When it gets to zero everyone who’s in the pool gets matched without taking into account the order, only rating. Problem solved.

Agreed. Do it as a 5 minute counter
I queued throughout the entire day and got consistently paired with the same group of players with varrying glory and leaderboard ranks.
I’m assuming the invisible elo is a factor or it is simply an issue of low population + constant queuing after each match ends.
I think there is more to it than simply sync queuing.
6 wins, 1 loss – then started losing some: skyhammer / spirit watch …

He’s a ranger and my last group just handed him his 4th loss.
Although his team did have 4 of the top 10 players on the leaderboard on it haha.
I must have horrible luck.

I’m guessing the reasoning is that with longer countdown times, you’ll have a larger player pool which means less leftover players and better matchmaking. Personally, I wouldn’t mind say a 20 minute countdown. You’ll know exactly when the game will likely start, so you don’t have to leave game and check back every minute like now.
At various times I was getting matched up with 1 or 2 players for few games, and I was strictly solo queuing. Not sure if that’s because of low pop, or the timers are too quick for player pools to get big enough, or what.

20 mins and i quit this game dude. Way too long.

Well it would start automatically after each pool is matched so when you log in it could be just a few minutes only. And then after the game (which takes around 20 minutes max if Im correct) you’ll only have to wait a minute or so ideally, since the previous countdown already started. Right now I’m getting 10 minutes queue times a lot so it wouldn’t be much worse.
If I was coding the matcher, I would flag people who have just been on a team together to be disallowed for being with anyone of that team for the next game. I.e. I would just attach a list of the last 4 people to each person, and disallow them from being on a team with anyone on that list.
Each game you refresh the list.

I mean, in some cases you may be right, but a lot of higher up players have specifically mentioned they got syncing to work reliably.
If you think sync queing is bad now when SoloQ just got introduced and is supposedly fresh for all players, imagine in 3 months time if the pvp population gets back to its usual size – SoloQ may end up being a Solo ‘Premade’ Q if they don’t fix this sync thing.
So thanks for letting us know lordrosicky about this exploit – most people would just abuse it in silence. I really hope it gets fixed soon somehow – I’d hate for people to be accused of syncing their Q’s when they did not, and on the other side you would get people who just love to feed their ego when all they really have done is try to gain an unfair advantage.

Thats a good idea when the population is healthy but it does not really translate well if there are a small number (say 10 people including you in the Q). Imagine you just finished a game, 4 of your teammates are now flagged as having played with you. If there was only 10 people in the Q, then the only option would be to choose from the 5 players from the other team but it wont be possible because they would also be flagged with each other as having played on the same team.
I think for this flagging system to work (without doing any maths, just a guess) you would need a minimum of 25 players in the queue (5 teams worth including yours, so that each game you can choose one person from each of the 5 random teams to avoid anyone having been on the same team twice in a row).
I think anet could introduce this flagging system when its 25+ players in the queue, and when its under 25 players they could maybe introduce another system.
Honestly I’d like to see some form of amount of people q’d (lots of issues with that idea but cant think of a better one) and have it only randomize teams when 20 people are q’d. then makes matches. Time limit (say 10-20 minutes) would accomplish the same thing abit a different way. Each has flaws but seems better than current.
Let’s wait at least another few days before we decide whats best.
And for syncing the flag peoples same teams seems a great idea except the population may not be high enough.
I played earlier and I got the same guardian on my team like 5 times in a row. Same ele 3. Lucky they were decent.
I haven’t run into any syncs yet, but if it’s a real problem, here’s an option for fast queues, no syncs, and close matches:
As soon as 10people queue, the queue pops.
Team A gets the highest rated player.
Team B gets the next two highest rated players.
Team A gets the next two.
Team B gets the next two.
Team A gets the next one.
Team B gets the next one.
Team A gets the lowest rated player.

Makes sense. Good idea.
If mashing everyone together like that isn’t wanted, wait for 30 players to queue and match them into groups by rating, then follow the same process. If a game hasn’t been created after a minute or two, take the first 20 who queued and go. If it still hasn’t fired after another minute or two, just go with the first 10.

HEY THAT’S ME! Just wanted to say the three losses occured because I got unlucky and got queued with a rank 14 power ranger 5 times in a row (got 3 losses). I wasn’t syncing just unlucky. I did get one or two other good players but I like to think I also gave good advice. Also, I’m pretty good myself. I have since lost 2 more games. Once because some guy had 2 FPS apparently and one game we just got plain beat. I never once synced though some people think that. Here’s the kicker, If I could sync why would I? I would try to sync with good players but there are 10 players total so there is a 50% chance I would have to fight the good player I just tried to sync with. Which means I have a better chance of losing. However, syncing isn’t possible so whatever.
I can’t really explain why it puts the teams together the way it does, but I got the same team for about 6 straight games, and again a few games later. Consisting of Euran, Hman, Mila, and someone else that I can’t really remember atm. I know syncing is definately something to look into, but I certainly haven’t run into any notable syncers yet. Not like you can really hide in a PvP community of <1000 anyways

Ya I think this happens because once we queue up together I think we are kind of syncing because the match ends and we run to the thing and submit another queue roughly around the same time. However, I would intentionally start the queue wait like 5 min and restart it… Stuff like this still happened…
Granted, people accused us of syncing but we won only by like 30-50 points sometimes which is a close game!
Guilty as charged… in a way.
I got matched with same people a few times.
I wouldn’t call that a sync, it’s just what happens just in the beginning when there aren’t enough people to play with – you will get on the same match with the people in your rating range who are currently queuing; you’ll be in the same team or against each other.
It may look like sync, but that’s essentially what ratign is for, to place the people of similar rating level in matches together.
Give it some time.

When the pop is low, I can understand the same 10 players being put into the same pool after each match, but why is it that the “teams” from the first match tend to stay together? Why don’t we see the players being mixed? Someone recommended that after players are in one match together there should be a matchmaking function that breaks those teams up. That is an excellent idea.
The soloQ is pure garbage atm. I just gave up for the night. 5 matches and 5 losses with mental kittens who couldn’t find their kitten with a flashlight and directions. Just pathetic the quality of player this soloQ has given us.
TBH all I think anet have done is just added SoloQ without adjusting any algorithm or whatever for how it groups players. So like before, I’m willing to bet if 10 players Q at same time after every game, it will more or less put the same 5 players in each time most of the time.
Ways to make it fair? Insert some new algorithm to mix and match the teams obviously, based on maybe how many games they have won in a row/mmr etc.
well, ever since I had 6-1 I started getting total morons in my team, resulting in 6-7 right now so yeah…
5-1, 6-1 maybe if you are pushing your luck extremely well 7-1. There is no way in hell people go 10-1 without sync.
That’s bullkitten… I ended my matches yesterday with 10-1 and was definitely not syncing.
I also had a lot of different team members, even though I queued right after a match ended. The queue time was 5-7 minutes after the first couple of matches, so I’d say that the game does not put the first 10 players into a match, as some people claim. Both teammates and enemies could be found on the higher ranks of the leaderboard.
Conclusion: The matchmaking works fine for me. Of course there is often some luck involved, but isn’t that natural?

I thought that too, keep playing and you’ll run into a time where you’re on a strong team that keeps being matched together against the same weak team (or vice-versa). If it was truly random, what are the odds that the same 3-4 players would each be on the same team 3 times in a row? Very bad odds, which makes me think there’s something going on with the matchmaking code keeping groups together after a win/loss.
Ever tried syncing with other players in Random arena’s in gw1?..it does happen..but very rarely. How bout we try this, you provide video evidence of you and a friend successfully snycing over and over again, and we’ll believe you. Otherwise it’s accusation without evidence.
Actually I’m like r150 or something like that. Normally in the games I play, the other people is also like r100 – r200. But I remember a game I played versus 4 or 5 people of r1 – r15 in the opposite team. Very suspicious they were together….
Solo q is very fun, but with this kitten and the leavers thing, it’s horrible!
At first I thought you guys was talking about team SYNC, but then I realized you guys were talking about something like this.
Whats the most stacked team you seen in solo que? This is mine.
Does anyone actually have any proof on this matter, seems like pure speculation and lame excuses for loosing
Not speculation at all. If you think it is, then play about 10 matches off-peak hours (the lower population on line seems to make it easier to synch).
People aren’t even being shy about it. Ask in map chat and you will usually get an acknowledgement.
It’s not syncing. I’m pretty sure it has to do with how the group forming algorithm works. I believe it’s currently working the same way that it forms teams from partial groups in Team Arena. I’m pretty sure the way that works is it tries to bin you in with 4 other people of similar rating and makes a group out of that (expanding the search regularly as time continues to pass). Once it makes a full group for you, it waits for other full groups to finish and then tries to bin you into a match based on the groups’ average ratings. This is bad for solo q because the way that ends up working out in off-peak hours is that all the top guys end up in a group together, and they end up playing a group of all lower guys, because there aren’t enough people on to form other top groups to match against them.
The correct solution here is to use a different grouping algorithm for solo q. What it should do is try to bin together a group of 10 players of similar rating, not groups of 5. Then, take that group of 10 and divide them up so that you make 2 roughly balanced groups of 5, then have those 2 groups play each other. Like so:
1 is on Team A
2 and 3 are on Team B
4 and 5 are on Team A
6 and 7 are on Team B
8 and 9 are on Team A
10 is on Team B
This would provide more challenging and equally matched games, even in off peak hours. I hope a dev reads this!

There are a lot of possible ways to prevent effective syncing, but I don’t think the devs could have just overlooked it.

Well, I have been in matches where the teams were clearly not split the way I am suggesting. The top several players among the 10 in my match were all on the same team.
Tried it with a friend, it works most times, even in peak hours.
So i don’t think it’s speculation.
And if u remember, it happened before too. I remember playing with the same guy 3 times in a row without even trying, just by queueing at the same time the match ends.
