Do you like Skyhammer?
Well, looks like Skyhammer has a higher approval rating than George Bush.

This map is a typical case of making things harder and more complex than they need to be.
“The only thing we want is simple pvp”
- We want maps and gamemodes that create fair small scale skirmishes.
- We dont want secondary objectives that have an enormous impact on the game.
- We dont want cheesy one shot mechanics.
Eh, the poll doesn’t really give good answer options for my position. I like Skyhammer for what it is, but I don’t like it that much as a real competitive map. It’s a fun map for casual bumping around so that you can have those who-can-knock-who-off-first fights, even if that doesn’t make for the most balanced team strategy.
When i got into this topic i was going to anwer no…but then i saw “it’s terrible” as an option, easy choice..
Pulls and knockbacks sure are fun … but the design is still horrible. And the all-seeing eye that hammers everything down is just not my cup of tea. Not even gonna comment on what it reminds me of.
Short answer is: No!
Long answer is: I find Skyhammer to be tolerable in hotjoin, because then I have time to stretch my legs, get a cup of coffee, spectate other players and get a short break in between the games.

Skyhammer is a troll map filled with cheesey one shot mechanics. The direct opposite of what the pvp crowd wants. The only thing that is missing is a big troll face in the middle of your + your victims screen after you stealth + tripwire someone to its death.
It has its fun moments, in a minigame kind of way.
It’s terrible. It shouldn’t be on any queued games.
I like Skyhammer.
The vertically provides fun experience. It is fun only when no one uses the Skyhammer.

I think that troll face is a great idea, hope it is included in upcoming patch.
In Hot Join, It’s absolutly fine, but get it out of tournaments plz.
A big problem on Skyhammer is, that because of the possibilities to push people from the map and the fact that the Controlpanal-plattform is some kind of 4th capture point, this map is even more favouring bunkers, aoes, stability/knockbacks, than the other maps do.
Remove the map from solo queue already. Having to wait 10 mins only to get Skyhammer is just cruel.
I will defend skyhammer to the death… some people run a build that just fits perfectly with the map, and do great. Others, run glassy builds with 0 sustain and get punished, sorry, its true ;/. But what is stopping everyone else from using the same tactics? are there monsters under your bed that come out and eat you if you use a mesmer with a focus on skyhammer? because that is some serious kitten, and you need to call the police.

Oh I dunno what about classes like ele or ranger who don’t have cheesy pulls and knockbacks they can do every 10 seconds? And why should a map force you to run a very narrow build in order to do well?
What if I don’t wanna run a tanky spec with stability as often as possible and only try to knock people off rather than winning fights fairly?
Your reasoning is probably the same as Anet’s and it’s extremely flawed.

Oh yes if i get skyhammer in soloq i get my bunker guardian, put hallowed ground and hammer on and start banish ppl to death at cannon…is it effective? Yes. Is it fun? No. Is it skillfull playing? Oh god…no.

It doesn’t take skill to kik someone without stability to his death…no matter if you’re the one kiking them down or the one who got kittend. Many here seems to think “I’m so good cause i fear/kb ppl down and you all suck because positioning and kitten” Sorry…but i’m actually one of those sending ppl down there…and i could definately say it doesn’t require skills…at all. I do it, even 1vs2 since i have a ton of stability and could keep up vs 2 there with bunker because i don’t need to deal damage…. it’s needed to win…but it’s still lame, not fun and cheap.

Its a part of this game, a small part. they took it out of team tournies, which I thought was good. personally, I like playing skyhammer after 6 maps of the same kinda fightin, it switches up the battle a bit, whether in my favor or not.
Also, if youre running a build or class with no knockback/mass stability, why not just fight on point B… or gank on the road, if its REALLY that bad getting knocked off. There is nothing stopping you, except yourself.
What I like about sky hammer:
1) lots of use of z axis and jumping
2) positioning is very important.
What I don’t like about sky hammer:
1) Cannon does too much damage, on too short a cooldown, and is completely unavoidable.
2) Instant-death from fall.
What could be improved:
1) Make cannon dodgeable/blockable so that it doesn’t completely shutdown a cap point.
2) Reduce the falling distance so that you only die from it if already low on hp. Give a way to get back up. Knocking your opponent off the map should only buy you time, not be an instant win. Especially since some classes have wayyyyyy more access to knockbacks than others.
Overall I like it but with these changes I think it would be a lot more playable.

Read my post before…can you read right? I’m usually the one sending ppl down to death and STILL this map is lame and needs to go (At least from tpvp)…i don’t like winning with cheap mechanics, and winning sh with a knockback/fear/pull is called cheap..

Because its cheese….and we shouldnt want that in PvP.
I did my games on my engi skyhammer build (flamethrower toolkit elixer S). Running back and forward between close and far, knocking off 15-20 ppl in a single game.
Having stealth means i can get 100% certain knockoffs if people are on point. There is no way for them to counter it if i time it well. Stealth -> break the glass -> magnetpull in to rifle immob -> dodge off the second the immob lands.
Since they dont see it coming there is no way for them to counter it. Using their CC breakers whont give them enough time to pop it + run off either.

yes, i abuse scorp wire and steal/fear on that map a lot and i hate it tbh as i spent more time camping enemies trying to make them fall than actually fighting…zzzzz
