Do you realise it's still hard to get Dragon?
Look at it this way:
They increased the amount of rank gained (from release) by nearly 800%
They decreased amount of rank required to reach dragon by ~700%
So not only are you getting rank 800% faster, you only have to get ~25% of what was originally the max.
Still hard? It’s eons easier to get than before. I would have had it last year, and I probably would have stopped pvp’ing at that point in time. I could have gotten ~3-5 legendaries if I had cared to pve with the amount of time I spent going from 53-65.
I did some light math the other day. Dev said less than 800 wins in tQ = Dragon from 1-80.
800 wins assumign 50/50 winrate = 1600 games. Average games per hour (if you’re looking at LB when they update for a team that Q’s back-to-back) = 4games per hour.
1600/4 = 400 hours.
Dev said less than 800 games so less than 400 hours to go from 1-80. So that’s what? The time it takes to craft 1-2 legendaries?
To put it in perspective I’ve got a game-time played of ~4,200. about 500 was from pve/wvw.

It is actually really easy to get to dragon now, just need 2180 hot join wins or 1000 tpvp games with 75% win rate which is easily achievable in a year. So ya it is really really easy, but for the players that are already there, they would be at, at least twice the rank points if they were giving out 1500 back in the day. Like I just got 50k points in a week just casually playing tpvp, that is 20 weeks of playing a couple hours a day to hit dragon instead of 4000 hours of constant grinding.
1,111,500 rank points for R80.
Assuming you have a 1,500 rank a win , 500 rank a loss & 50% W/L ratio
it will take you ~1,111 games to reach R80 via solely team arena.
You being R39 after a thousand match is a bit skewed because that probably included time played before the increased the rank for matches.
The only exclusive skyhammer stream
its turning into a roughly 3-5 months consistent PvP to get dragon.

Ooops my math was flawed since I used the devs (800 wins = dragon) since he was referring to just pure wins no losses.
With the 1,111 games to dragon (50% winrate) it would take ~275 hours if you get 4 games per hour.
I think most of it is ire towards the people who farmed Skyhammer to gain their rank, if that entire debacle never happened, not as many people would have an issue with the time spent
Players that play the game for over 4 hours a day = getting Dragon is easier than ever before.
Players who have jobs, families, in-person friends and obligations, and who live in a place called reality (90% of GW2 player base), now have realistic pvp goals and achievement milestones.
I don’t see a problem here. Rank is just a status measurement that helps with networking with other players. Competitive PvPers who are looking to get into a team will have a better chance of meeting other like-minded players and establishing these connections if they are more recognizable and well-known — rank is a beginning step to help achieve this status. When you try and stream, for example…nobody wants to watch the rank 12 play hot joins all day. Your chances of gaining viewers are much higher when you’re a rank 80 Dragon playing competitive tournament matches. This is now a realistic goal for people, no longer reserved to the elitist top 0.1%.
tl;dr Elitists, get off your throne and quit sobbing.

After Anet decides to give a legendary to anyone with 400g:

In short, let’s just remove all super long term goals for the game. After all, this game is not meant for those who want to dedicate 4 hours a day to it
P.S Thanks for calling those of us at r55 “elite” . Feels good

i do feel they’ve made it too attainable now,
granted the previous requirement was ridiculous, years upon years of hardcore play.
but i only do hotjoin for afew hours once every few days and i’m rank 43 (pre patch), the new 80 seems a little too low,
in a years time everyone will have rank 80 and it will just be the default that when someone stomps you you’ll expect to see dragon finisher.
it’ll be refreshing when you see a none dragon rank.
OP is a casual.

It has always been very easy to get dragon, if you can win 1 game you can win a billion games given enough time, and time is all that is required for dragon.

I’m casual when it comes to Pvp.
I only started doing tournaments when dailies required them, only doing solo Q, quitting when I got my daily 5 wins, and not even doing that about 2 days out of seven.
Just hit 54. I’ll have a dragon.

I like this.
Quit the game for months and played 2-3 games max per day after. Ill get dragon while being as casual as it gets.
ah yes another rank QQing thread let the rank 70+ be the only dragon i say, either way in few days or weeks everyone who got bump to phoenix will be dragons also.
