Q:

I have seen some very obvious examples of it in matches and was wondering what steps if any Anet takes to monitor such things.

It’ s not like everyone can go “oh hey let’ s reverse the protocol used by gw2 so i can manipulate what’ s going on between me and them and make my warrior dualwield greatswords”.
Network manipulation is serious buisness,it took years before another famous mmo begun being bothered by such problems and gw2 is a relatively young game, I think we won’ t see anything like that for a long time.

I highly doubt this, only time peeps attacked other peeps network is when I played quake. I know all about ping bombs from that game.

GW2 servers suck, I dc every 5 games, never dc in any other game, its there gear they need to check it, don’t tell me to check my gear.

It isn’t attacking someone else network it is disconnecting your own to allow you a few seconds of undisturbed play, It is pretty obvious when people use them. You will see someone lag out then appear some where else, most often behind you at that time you take dmg from any skills cast during their disconnection because the server catches up. You see this thing all the time in games like dark souls and many other console games though this will be fixed in dark souls 2 do to a networking change.

AFAIK lag switching only works if you’re the host which is not the case in Guild Wars 2. I may be wrong but I’m pretty sure every PvP arena is using the official Anet servers which means it’s not possible.

When playing ptp game you need to be host to gain something from using it. In an mmo it is used more as a def cool down or equalizer from what I have seen. Of course it could always be very timely lag on their internet’s part.
