There was Raid on the Capricorn, my first PvP map. Sadly underwater combat was even less balanced than matches on dry land.
The volume of the screaming rose so high that the map was completely removed. It has since been replaced by “Revenge of the Capricorn.” I assume this raid on Lion’s Arch is in retaliation for the past raid on the Capricorn.
Balance is already not working well. Adding back underwater combat would completely loop it.

Underwater combat in PvP was generally terrible and indeed was one of the reasons for the removal of the original Capricorn map as underwater skills were horribly unbalanced and nigh on useless for some classes. There was also a huge issue with rangers in that pets could out-rez any damage put onto the ranger when they were in ‘downed’ state while in the water.
I miss the old Capricorn map, but I’m glad underwater combat is no longer a thing in PvP as it was awful.
They should have brought the old capricorn map back into the game, but with the under water node on land. The map in general was actually good I think. But no, lets not bring back under water combat into PvP.
while it would be a nice diversion, the effort to balance all classes ist propably way to high. They can do it after diversity and balance works out of water …
An you can do it WvW. Had a nice unterwater fight yesterday there …
