Let’s be honest here. Is it possible to reach top 25 by solo queue alone – and maintain it?

By all means, I don’t want anet to delete duo queue but something needs to be done on the skill scoring. When someone at the top is afraid to queue coz there is no one to duo with or when someone needs an alt to enjoy pvp without worrying, do you guys think those are some healthy situations for the game?

Duo queue doesn’t offer advantages other than the fact that your partner may be the best teamate you have out of the 3 other pugs you’ll get. Matchmaking doesn’t know by how much better or worse. All it can do is average the two team’s mmr evenly the best it can.

Invites are kind of like asking a person out. Statistically, 1 out of 20 people you ask will say yes. You just got to put in the effort and ask around.

It 100% gives an advantage, you have the option for voice communication. In and of itself is more valuable than anything else in PvP, communication.

I don’t understand the hate in this forum on duo Q. I’ve been in other games and Q with friends is the norm for any online PvP game. Heck you can even multi Q in Halo! If you want to play a game entirely by yourself why not do the 1v1 tournaments?

There’s no hate, just stating facts here. I actually encourage the feature to be used.

It does give advantage of having 1 potato less on team which can be huge.

Absolutely. I really wanted to go this season totally solo just to see how far i could take myself. But the amount of knuckledragging, mindless goons i’ve gotten on my team made it beyond frustrating. So i finally gave in and teamed up with a friend. Won every single game since then. 2 decent players can carry 3 terrible ones pretty far against an entire team of baddies. Just having 1 other person that can listen and knows what they’re doing and doesn’t just stare at the wall eating paint chips makes a world of difference.

Duo Q gives too much of an advantage at the very highest levels. I know the guys up top are actually good PvP players but if they were really playing solo queue they’d see the struggle instead of having someone else to rely on.

Duo Q the mid plat level doesn’t really help unless you’re underrated, the system inflates the MMR for the duo and makes the games a lot harder to carry which generally duos at this level don’t have that level of synergy to do.

Duo Q at lower levels might help if both of you are good at working together but if the system boosts your MMR up (because of duo) it might even out and end up not being worth it for the same reason above.

Duo makes it so instead of 80% of your team is random, only 60% is. The matchmaker doesn’t work very well at all at the highest levels and I’ve seen people like Wakkey let down by entire team of pugs (including me) because it matched us up with him when our ratings were so much lower vs a pro league duo. He had no chance like that.

For a completely fair system there needs to be pure solo q for obvious reasons.

FOR THE GREEEEEEEEEEEEN
