Does no one play Stronghold?
We had a guild mission last week to get a win on stronghold and we said cool this could be fun. We got a 20 min que and said naw we wont be able to get this.
Other then guild missions i dont really know anyone who plays it.
I love it, but it never pops for me anymore.
I stopped queuing for it during season 3 because one elementalist of even terrible skill level could carry a team even moreso than in conquest that season. So much so that if the other team had an elementalist and yours did not, it was an auto-loss by a large margin. I just had not bothered rechecking it.
I actually prefer stronghold as it is more engaging and is without those tiny capture points where no-skill AOE spam covering the whole point reigns supreme.
Hopefully they have some balance changes in the works and a new stronghold map soon.
(And a deathmatch mode that can be checked on and off like stronghold for courtyard and some new map with the options for 3v3 and 5v5).
Victory in Stronghold is determined by a few gimmicky mechanics that aren’t possible unless your class can exploit them.
- stack stability and channel a hero uninterrupted
- heal door breakers with ele (there is WAAAAAAY too much outgoing healing to npc’s)
It’s a fun map, but it’s not a fair fight if one team is comped for it and the other isn’t.
To much pve in a pvp and nearly no chance to flip the table when you are on the loosing side in my experience
Defence is skilless dps rushing.
Offence is skilless bunkering
I presonally prefer this mode. Imo, it brings a mix of tf2 payload race and small-scale wvw. Plus I can actually do my job as a theif, infiltrate, assasinate, steal their kitten, gtfo.
I really enjoy Stronghold, but it’s a bad case of “not enough players to build competitive teams in matchmaking”. Every match I get it’s a steamroll one way or the other, and usually ends up being a 4+1 vs 1+1+1+1+1 or something.
I only played stronghold once or twice since its release and I still don’t know the rules to win.
