Easy to learn, but still has some dodge related mind games allowing for a skill ceiling.

Dragon Ball without down-state sytem is much better pvp game.
AN could you remove down-state from sPvP maps or can you give an option in private games/custom Arenas to turn off the Down-state.
Downed-state is the best feature in pvp togethe with dodging….

Dragon Ball is nice to play…. for 30 minutes top, then you realize you reached the skill cap 15 minutes ago and you are doing the same crap all over again. Yet the idea is good but it lacks variety and mechanics which could improve the skill cap (maybe utilities or 2 weapon set ? idk). Anyway it’s just meant to have some pvp fun, in an other way than hotjoin or tournies so i guess it’s fine as it is.

the no healer is part of the reason, but its probably also for balance reason. imagine a gw2 without down state but with shatter mesmers, backstab thief, s/d thief ?
One note: skills during jump animation = fluid gameplay!

If downed state went away there’d have to be some major balance changes (Probably along the lines of tuning up toughness and healing power) to accompany it, but I wouldn’t miss it one bit. Downed state just causes way more problems than it’s worth, I’d much rather continue fighting for 10 seconds with all my skills than sit around spamming 1 and trying to time 2 and hoping 3 comes up.
I really enjoyed dragon ball more than spvp (though to be fair I havent spvped in a while) There was no one that could tank for hours on end or just stealth and slip away. Plus not having a down system felt like it made faster more exciting gameplay, almost like a fps to me.

GW2 without downed state = WoW: Train someone, they’re dead. Train the next person, they’re dead. The very definition of “stale and boring”.
Downed state adds an element of strategy in tournament play that sPvP hot-joiners don’t seem to comprehend.
Dragon ball is fun for a bit, but it really is very simple to learn/play.
I think if they include it in PvP it would be fine, maybe have it as an option in the sPvP browser, call it dragon-ball arena. And while they are at it, also include crab toss and the likes, might as well.

Yes, as a warrior i hate those downstats, our good utilities are too precious and have too long CD to waste them on some bs downstats, and some of them are just OP.

They wont remove downed state because they cant, the game is designed around downed state.
What upset me is that they had enough time and devs to create a new map with new mechanics just for a temporary event…. but they didnt do it for the real pvp.
I wouldnt like to say this, but i’m loosing my faith, the only reason i can see is that they just dont want to.
Me neither, assomeone already said downed state brings another twist to the table. You have to learn when to stomp, with how many to stomp and maybe to just kill the guy who is ressing the downed guy. Don’t know how it is in hotjoin though.

i actually kind of like down state. it does add some “complexity” if you will. sure at times, people will be able to cheese out of a certain death if you will.. there are a ton of ways to work around it.
regardless though, i’ve never been a big fan of the mini PvP games gw2 has offered so far. dragon ball is not bad though! pretty fun mechanics. it’s a nice little game you can jump into and play for a bit.
though i still fin s/tPvP way more exhilirating.

I played this Game-Mode today and It’s just nowhere near as fun, complex and exciting as structured PvP. There’s really no depth to it and if ppl suggest that it’s better PvP than sPvP, they have no clue about sPvP….
I wouldn’t mind seeing the Map reappropriated for sPvP though, I mean: It’s there, ppl seem to like the jumping around, so why not?
They could just exchange the little Upgrades with other Small Buffs and/or Points towards the win to encourage Movement around the Map. Maybe it would be completely imbalanced, maybe it would be amazing, but if they’ve already made the Map, why the hell not?
At least it could be an interesting case-study of how other game-modes could play out, what builds would be used, if it actually works and is fun etc. I haven’t played and thought about it enough to know how it would work, but again; they already have done 99% of the work: They don’t need to think about it to make it balanced, just throw it out there and see what happens! I’m sure no1 would hold anything against ANet if it simply doesn’t work. But IF there is potential and the reaction of the community was positive, they could then start trying to balance it.
