"Dragonhunter... solid impact in many areas"
Have you seen the devs play? They’re not very skilled. DH stomps bad players, but is simple to counter if you’re good. I really think they’re trying to balance based on their low skill level rather than high tier players.
dh is a lot better than you’re making it out to be, it doesn’t only kill bad players lol.
Karl McLain seriously needs to be let go or switched to a non-design department. He’s shown TIME AND TIME again that he has absolutely NO IDEA how his own game works, let alone the classes he designs.
Remember when he died against Svanir in the Tempest preview stream? LOL. Even the most noob players can take down Svanir 1v1.
Dh would be way more okay with no 0iq required revs running around hitting 12k with unrelenting and 4 quickness autos

Karl is a dev, he might notbe into pvp . There’s no need to switch him to non-design at all. The quote is however worrying, DH isnt good at all in pvp.
I would rly advise Anet to do some skype calls to some of the top pvp players. They have a good, eye in the state of pvp.
Get sensible people like Rom, Phantaram, Nos, Toker, Frostball and other top pvpers to,help make more classes viable for like proleague stuff. Then ask pvpers that do loads of soloq. Pvp that isnt ESL level but just solid pvp in Gw2. People like Xerrex or Tap Dat Mouse or whatever to help balance for that kind of solid pvp play.
Gw2 has a really helpful/nice community and i’d think it wouls help a lot if Anet used them more
Well, I’m guessing DH will have more impact once the patch drops and many (if not all) current bunker builds die.

Anet has been 10000% more communicative with players since HoT

Careful, lets not forget the Might-stacking nerf of 2015! You know, the ability to stack moderate amounts(through blocking) was essentially decimated? Because Guardian’s are SOOOO good at that.
Sarcasm off
Honestly, i’d like to have faith but just like I stated above, i’m skeptical. Strong passives still exist among other classes(engie/rev), Guardians are now the slowest profession without compensation to other areas, sustain is maintained through long cd burst intervals to which our demise is essentially secured once said cd’s are gone(shield of wrath)
Not to mention nerfing skills that weren’t even viable in high-tier play to begin with. I’m sorry if you’re too slow to avoid a traps damage, it’s REALLY not that hard. There’s a myriad of traits/kits are are utterly outdated/useless that i’ll be top-dollar won’t be touched.
Yes, DH needs help, but it also needs more counter to the traps. One example is that trap cooldown should start once triggered, not when it is placed.

This won’t happen, cause all “trap” skills share this mechanic.
It would be better working of “daze” fix and set em as “instant” skill, not persistent.

DH might become more prevalent next balance patch. One of it’s hard counters, tempest, is getting nerfed. While they aren’t nerfing what tempests have to counter DH (AoE magnetic aura and projectile killers), we’ll see a lot less tempests around.
However, scrapper is a softer counter to DH and will still be around, so we’ll see how it goes.
Scrapper is softer counter to everything i guess ( talking about solo 1v1 )

Is the only “trap” which work like portal?
Seriously Man, try to be constructive next time.

More of the point that DH traps COULD work the exact same way. It can be destroyed prematurely for benefits, which still sets it on cooldown. Even if it “fails” (which most of the time it does, horribly). A simple solution is much the same, having an active trap switched to a “destroy” skill. That way, another one can’t be placed until its destroyed and the CD begins.
Then you’ll have to rework thief and ranger traps too, cause are underpower ( also, kittened up by a single dodge. 4 traps in a row ).
I used to like the traps cd return cause they were meant to be useless ( thief ) and viable ( condi ranger ), but there was a counterplay. with dh there’s not.
tha’ts why i would prefer a daze fix.
Sometimes you dodge, trigger em all, an traps continue to daze you. and still i don’t know why.
Also, if 4 traps proc the same moment, all daze effect should overwrite em all, giving the player 1 single second of daze. But sill i see something like a permadaze ( maybe a bug, dunno ).

True. DH is in a bad spot. Why is that?
- Hard countered by D/F tempests.
- It’s a direct damage class in a meta focused around sustain, survival, and control.
- What does it actually bring to a team fight?
- It can kill thieves.
- It can cleave downed very well.
- Why aren’t what it brings to a team fight good enough to warrant taking one?
- Thieves aren’t in the meta.
- Quickness revives.
Do you see?
- Tempests are being hit hard by the removal of celestial, and their low health pool making clerics unviable, especially with reapers having a lot more condi pressure now from corruption on scepter auto attack. This means the place of a hard counter to DH in the meta is being threatened.
- With amulet changes and quickness and slow no longer affecting revival and stomp, and the removal of runes of mercy and durability, poison and direct damage will once again be effective enough to make it into the meta – meaning strategies playing off of kills. This is a strategy DH can fall into.
- In every meta focusing on direct damage and playing off of kills, there have been thieves. DH counters thieves, meaning it could come into the meta like medi guard did once before due to its pressure being relevant to the strategy, felt, and it counters something else in the meta.
In light of this, the devs can’t really buff it. They don’t know how effective it will be. They know aspects of it are very strong, possibly even too strong, but they haven’t been able to be properly utilised competitively yet. Now, they might be.

I agree with Impact.
Remove quickness from stomping/rezzing, Buff thieves and nerf DH to the ground ( i always smile when i read "its focused on Sustain, survival, control, dps…. " Lawl, somebody wants more and should seriously play a thief or a warrior ).

I give you that back. Shadow-trap doesn´t work like portal or have you ever been hold back to portal cause of a stone thinks you shouldn´t go where you want? The port follows the shadowstep-mechanic.
Ye my bad.
The point was wtf you took shadow trap as example.

Nobody cares about guardian and DH. This is the sad truth…
“dragonhunter elite specialization has proven to have a very solid impact in many areas of the game” -Karl McLain 2016
We need to have a serious talk about this quote.
The quote is correct. The DH a strong impact to the game.
So why then has Dragonhunters been neglected?
Dragonhunter/Guardian are currently completely worthless in competitive PvP.
It really depends what professions you are facing. It has nothing to do at what level you are playing. The top 4 team on EU are using double rev and double mesmer…. well, DH can not compete with rev. But DH is better than basically every other build/profession-combination.
The DH is a result of the power-creep that happened with HoT and which needs to be reverted. It is great from the devs, that they are also taking a look at the DH.
Can the DH compete in season two? We currently can only guess how the meta will look. The only thing we know, is that the bunker mesmer is gone. Let’s wait till the patch hits and we played a few games, than we’ll complain.
Or is it balanced around Amber players who AFK in Traps then flood the forums with immature complaints?
I’m saying that as a player who reached legendary: The division currently has nothing to do with skill. Please inform yourself how the league system is currently working and what is getting changed with season two.
For years Guardians have been ignored, enough is enough.
You might feel that way and if you do, here have some hugs <3
But not, it is completely wrong. Guards have been dominant through the years. First as bunkers and prior hot as burn guards.

In other words, DH could have a bigger impact in S2 due to all the changes. Lets not jump the gun here.
And why do people say DH is the worse class in pvp? That title goes to Warriors…
