E-Sports for GW2!
First things first, Anet need to add a “Skirmish” / “Wargame” feature to allow top tier teams to go head to head with each other at any time that they want to.
Also
Adding a feature to GW2 to allow players to view other teams games from different POV’s would be incredible, I think a feature like this would have to be limited to say allowing 4 players to be invited as viewers (2 per team) to avoid any type of lagg or server delay / potential crash.
By just adding 2 features like this, will allow casters to view top tier games from any POV that they wish to view as well as record the matches and commentate the matches live! And Skirmish / Wargames would allow top tier teams to avoid jumping into random tournament games and be able to have competitive matches when-ever they want to. (To avoid boosting / exploitation of any sort, Glory should not be awarded for Skirmishes)

I agree completely with both of these points you raise. Teams desperately need a ranking system so they can accurately compare themselves with other teams , accumulated glory just doesn’t cut it at all. Im sure Arena net is going to implement some sort of elo rating system. Skirmishes and War games are also a must so teams can organise matches with ease.
The Observer/Spectator mode is crucial for this game to be a proper e-sports but I can understand that this wasn’t needed to launch the game so we should be seeing this feature forth coming.
Thanks for your input and thanks for helping develop GW2 into an e-sport.

Yes I am always looking for content to cast, would it be possible for you to send me a PM?
keep dreaming, it’ll never have a e-sports scene if A-Net doesn’t implement things like a ladder ranking system and a spectator mode.

Im sure these features will be forth coming from Anet. If GW is anything to go by the spectator mode was awesome!
We need that spect mode. And rank, 1v1 and teams its a must!!
Might have been a little to negative, but basicly we need those featurs in order otmake it happen. I’d love GW2 as an E-Sports for sure!

Actually first on the list should be eliminating the few 2-3 button insta jibb combos possessed by certain classes THEN rated. Would be kind of lame if 75% of the players were nothing but thieves and warriors.
combat is too chaotic for it to be THAT popular as an esport.
all weapon skills do a gazillion stuff at once each one,
(which makes it very noob-friendly, but confusing to watch for someone who is not experienced)
and the spell effects are way over the top for anyone to see whats going on.
for an experienced GW2 players tho, it would be very entertaining.

Thanks for your supports really appreciate it! =] and thank you everyone for working together to make GW2 e-Sports scene as exposed as possible <3.
For E-Sport the gear would have to be identical on each team, stripping it down to the base mechanics. This would be to have a fair competition
Don’t think GW2 can make it as an E-Sport.
Alts: Warrior, Necromancer, Mesmer, Elementalist (bunker)
I completely support this and was trying to do the same through multiple posts on Reddit and diff places
I made another thread on the forums, just for ANet’s attention, can find it here

Thank you so much for your support of e-Sports in GW2. I feel like we have to try and do as much as we can to promote it’s viability and it is those like you who take the time to really think about what is missing. Thank you for that comprehensive list.
Thanks for all the support guys, keep on promoting e-Sport for GW2
observer was the worst thing ever implemented in gw1. before it there was variety in build compositions. every guild built his own funny/invincible build. after observer release you sw only balanced, same kind of spike and a couple of well tested builds. wow so interesting game yawn .
Watching 2 balanced teambuilds fighting against each other was extremely exciting, imo. But I don’t see GW2 becoming important in the E-Sports scene. It is not polished enough and it is missing so many basic features, right now.

yeah i’ve seen what gw2 needs to a good esports (went through all those lists n stuff), but as long as such things dont exist, i wont support gw2 as an esport, cause at the moment the pvp system is imho crappy as hell (not due to some classes being op or anything, but the system overall). Again this is my personal opinion!
therefore im sorry if i just posted some outdated stuff
also maybe a similar thread exists already, in that case im sorry for double post.

I can understand that not everyone feels this way about PvP but you can’t deny it’s potentially and we really need the communities support to make this work. How can we expect Anet to change/implement these things if we don’t support it. Please consider this =]
Now that we have confirmation of all the features we need for this to be a successful eSports are coming all we need is the community behind this =] here
Thanks everyone for the support.
Yay, but you forget the fact that ArenaNet doesn’t want you to make money off of youtube with its products, as stated by Gaile Gray few days ago :
You cannot use the monetization system for YouTube or other services. In order words, you cannot make money from our products.
YouTube will often note that someone has monetized copyright content, and they will summarily (and properly) close the videos or close the accounts of those involved. You don’t mention if you were using the monetization system, but if you were, you should close the video and re-upload without monetization, or you should disable monetization through the YouTube interface.
So, you’re basically doing all this for free ? Recording videos / editing / commentating ? Good luck sir

Who said anything about making money? You have to understand that the only reason we do this is because we are passionate about spvp and want to see it develop. If the community doesn’t have those like us pushing GW2 to be the best e-sport it can be I believe it would be unfortunate, chase the dream not the paper.
