ETA on Deathmatch?
kills= points, just another way to win
I thought in normal SPvP kills don’t add to the 500 points needed to win? In torny they do though…
no, kills give your team 5 points
therefore im sorry if i just posted some outdated stuff
also maybe a similar thread exists already, in that case im sorry for double post.
Aliance battles were fun
BUT
RA and HA were way cooler
I hope you understand this refence
90% of the people playing sPvP are interested in zerg and ignore objectives? What a ridiculous and borderline demented statement. On what factual data and research is this statement based? Provide a source please.
Alts: Warrior, Necromancer, Mesmer, Elementalist (bunker)
A lot of players don’t like the “Arathi Basin” style point control games. My 50 man guild would muuuuch prefer a simple 5v5, or 5v5v5v5, style matchups where last team standing wins. This was in the original guild wars and was the most fun we had in pvp in that game.
Going even further than the above, putting 10 5 man teams in a large enough arena and having them duke it out would be amazing. Defending arbitrary capture points and killing npcs is NOT what I call fun in pvp, sorry.
I think it has more to do with the fact that currently, you can gain glory and rank points much faster by zerging and killing than you can by actually defending and trying to win.

I think the source is himself. Although 90% is an hyberbole if you ever join sPvP you can definately find quite a few people in every game doing exactly what he stated certainly from my experience.

He is talking about everyone, not the people he encountered. If he doesn’t have a valid and factual data and source, he should shut the hell up and not make up lies.
Killing people is a good thing and part of the objectives. Sometimes it is better to kill people and get fast points than to get a base.

Confirmed for telling lies and spreading propaganda, no point reading this thread anymore.

Deathmatch?
You mean everyone roll warrior and thief?
No thanks.

I’ve met literally 1 warrior that has killed my ranger. One.
No thieves yet.

Thats not the point. I don’t want to find against 2 classes all the time.

Why will you be fighting against 2 classes all the time?
Because everyone would roll a HS theif or a HB warrior.
Yeah, they are most likely skillless players, but if I’m constantly knocked down (bulls charge) immobilised (throw bolas) and having about 5 players all spamming HS/HB at once, I wouldn’t call that fun.

If they haven’t already rolled them for zerg mode, I doubt they would change to them for deathmatch.

Except a match like this would be over incredibly fast with the lack of any sustained healing classes. Games could literally be over in a matter of seconds especially in a 10 man zerg setting.
Unless they nerf damage or buff support abilities across the board these games would get old really fast.
I’ve had extremely good 5v5 fights in WvW. If given an arena with sufficient room, a 5v5 deathmatch could last a while. The problem with the point capture maps is the pvp is all concentrated mostly on the points and people get gibbed fast. Give people room to roam like in WvW and you’ll see fights lasting much longer.
And one trick pony thief / warrior quickness builds will get slaughtered by good team dynamics, like guardians, rangers to root/ push away, or mesmers to use portal to give teammates a huge kiting possibility.
Plus, if you don’t wanna play 5v5 deathmatch, don’t. No one is forcing you too. Bottom line is though that point capture pvp is zzzzz.
I want to see Capture the Leader similar to Gears of War.
I also want to see Team Death Match, while I don’t mind the racking up kills/points style for people who want that.. I’d prefer to see something similar to Quake Live Freeze Tag mode, where the goal is to kill the entire time in order to score. When you kill an enemy player they are “frozen”(or “downed” in GW2), then their teammate can revive them if possible.
I agree point capture pvp is zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Also, TDM/Freeze tag doesn’t/shouldn’t have to be a “mindless head to head zerg” if implemented properly such as team mates spawning at random locations throughout the map as it is with most FPS games not in 2 sets of cages.
