I had given serious thought to trying out the EU server, but… since I am in Australia my ping would be intolerable. So I am stuck in miserable NA.

I’ve noted that when people in the EU fart, it smells like roses. I’ve also noted that in pvp, they only speak the most pleasant terms to me, most of them will offer to tutor you if you have any issues, and many of them will send you gifts of gold and love just because they can.

There is a saying here that goes “fish rots from its head”; you can see the NA top rank list with all the meme alts and thrown games and exploiting and it becomes obvious that if there is no quality in the “top brass” games why there would be even a resemblance of it in lower divisions?

Also Grouch already stated that NA has lower average MMR than EU, that’s a fact, nothing you can do about it.

I made myself a NA account to see how my games would go and have to agree with OP just because of that. Then again, I met some really cool players and had some fun games there, so it is not like all of NA pvp scene is bad <3

NA is a joke. Half the leaderboard = alts, pro league players throwing/cheating/paying gold/q dodging etc

Not really surprised NA hasn’t won a world series in so long, EU is just better at the top level and fosters a healthier community for PvP growth at all levels.

North America is not anywhere near the skill level of Europe. That’s just the cold hard fact.

Are there good players on North America? Of course there are, but they are lacking compared to the amount of good players in Europe. Europe has been dominant in PvP for quite awhile now. NA Gold is like EU Bronze, that’s how much more skilled Europe is PvP based wise.

It is sad to say but it is true. I have 2 accounts, one on NA and one on EU. On EU i did 200 matches for dancing between silver and gold . For the most matches are even , or at least usually i have not often matches with more than 200pt at the end.

On NA i played 40 matches, i am in gold and i have much more unbalanced matches. I use the same class, with exactly the same build. I thought the difference was the “time” i play : when i play in EU it is prime time but when i play in NA for me it is prime time but it is not prime time in North America for the different timezone .

Probably NA has a lower pvp population .

It seems to me NA a little more toxic than EU as envirorment but perhaps it was myself unluck .

I have yet to experience it to be honest. I have never seen anyone in my games say anything about <profession> is broken. Being frustrated with one’s performance and getting a little rude, sure, but that seems more it’s about them, not what they’re fighting. Even in games my team gets beaten by alot, most of my teammates have been quite positive and keep the mood light. There’s always the occasional blah that comes along though.

I can’t speak for who is better between EU and NA though, with my win/loss seeming to stabilize I am at the level I think I should be until I get better :p

Jebro isn’t that bad, he also plays on EU in Denial I think. Best Mesmer I’ve seen so far.

What I really dislike in EU is the lack of communication like OP said. Sometimes ppl don’t even read chat. I had a Mesmer in my team who set up a portal on foefire lord, activated it, no one came because no one knew where it was. We ended up loosing….

Eu is probably more tryhard because we take the competition seriously (or at least, some of us). When looking at na leaderboard, i mean, it’s a complete mess, i would be surprised to see one dude on na who takes the competition seriously at this point.

Also, eu is maybe less toxic because not everyone is comfortable speaking/flaming in english, as it’s not the first langage of the majority of the playerbase. So some of us probably just end up screaming internally and not typing anything.
I doubt that eu players are genuily less toxic than na players.

Oh, and btw, eu > na.

From my point of view the op is right. I’ve played around 200 matches on NA and dropped from plat to bronze and since then can’t get up anymore. I can carry my teams to a point but sometimes teams are that bad that we lose a 200 point advantage while I fight 2-3 from the enemy team at a base and meanwhile we lose the two other bases or people start disconnecting or everyone runs for a boss kill.
On EU I started in gold 1 and ended up in gold 3 and I stayed in gold for ~300 games now and there are no stupid matches yet.

On this toon (EU) i played around 20 games and i fight my way up from low bronze to silver without an issue, because the teams are mostly even and we win by a 100+ advantage – or lose by another small margin.

NA is absolutely terrible. People throw matches, people just sit on the map typing or are so bad that they show up with power builds and condition stats and run into a meatgrinder (mid or far with 3(sic) enemies) every respawn

It’s been like this is in other games too, like Starcraft and Warcraft 3. For whatever reasons, we (Americans) tend to look for easy ways to achieve higher rankings more often than players from other countries. It’s really strange. There are surveys stating we’re generally more optimistic than Europeans and Asians overall. If that’s true, we’re certainly not being more optimistic in our gaming.

Maybe it makes sense. I’ve read overall attitudes in America toward gaming are much more negative than Europe and Asia. Maybe American players are so much more bitter toward each other because we’re used to people being bitter toward us for playing games at all.

Here i thought Britain leave european union? as for NA has ncsoft established a pact between the russian? probably new mobiles suits comes from japan eh?
