Eir Stegalkin In Stronghold

That is an interesting suggestion. Who else would you like to see as returning heroes in stronghold?
Any of the heroes you could have follow you from GW1
There are a few GW2 specific NPCs who have died, that were legendary enough to become Stronghold NPCs:
- Eir Stegalkin
- Scarlet
- Traherne
Let’s not get too caught up in GW1 lore as many of the GW2 players actually aren’t too familiar with GW1 lore at all. Also, remember that Stronghold NPCs “meant for a pvp match” should be NPCs who were once combat bad kitten.
I think that Stronghold unlockables should offer at least 1 character of each classic GW archetype “as far as flavor goes, not neccesarily functionality”. Right now we have:
- Grymm Svaard: Honestly this should be reprogammed to be First Mate Horrik, from the Mai Trin boss fight. When Mai/Horrik were first released, it was the first “wow this is a real boss fight” feel that was in GW2 and it was memorable. People would more enjoy and the feeling of summoning Horrik than they would Grymm Svaard. The mechanics could easily be kept same “big guy with the cannon”.
- Turai Ossa: Kind of functions like a Paragon/Guardian. I feel his dynamic is exactly where it needs to be.
- Nika: The Assassin/Thief. She has a good dynamic. It’s where it needs to be.
- Tybalt: Originally an Engineer in story but his character transcended the class. His flavor is exactly where it needs to be, it’s good. He also easily the most memorable of the partner/teachers between whisper/priory/vigil.
Mist Champions I would add, concerning class flavors that are missing:
- Ranger as Eir Stegalkin: Easily the strongest and most memorable Ranger in GW lore. Not only that but she was honestly a great character. People even remember the pet’s name, Garm. That says a lot about the character’s placement and nostalgia. She was the opinion leader of Destiny’s Edge and in many ways, defines the NPC roster in GW2.
- Necromancer as Traherne. Yes! don’t forget that Traherne was indeed studying Orr long before he picked up Caladbolg and during a story sequence, uses the best elite ever and summons like 6x flesh golems to help clear a tunnel. Upon this, he was the opinion leader of the pact. Guy needs to be in Stronghold. No other Necromancer type characters have approached this level of fame either.
- Mesmer as Gwen: She was THE Mesmer. This character is so full of GW1 nostalgia it’s disgusting. If there was 1 NPC that you remembered from GW1, it was Gwen. Upon this, she actually ended up being a kitten. This character needs to be in Stronghold but still in my opinion, a priority under Eir Stegalkin who again, defines so much about the GW2 release and the novels before it.
- Scarlet as a hard engineer: She was by far the most developed, most in depth, most memorable and just plainly the best villain GW2 has seen yet. if a “villain” was allowed in, it should be Scarlet. Give her bombs & twisted watchwork minions. This would draw a lot of attention to Stronghold.
- Elementalist…… Now no single Ele character has REALLY made a memorable impact as an ele but one certain archetype does exist that we all remember… the char flame shaman. Nothing in GW lore defines “elementalist” quite like having the kitten bombed out of you in hardmode by char flame shamans. Even when first loading up Prophecies in GW1, the char flame shaman was an immediate nostalgic icon, the first time you ever see it and again, defines the GW storyline lore in so many ways. Add a random oldschool evil kitten char flame shaman. People would love it.
Why no Khilbron?
- Khilbron was an end game boss. It doesn’t make sense to have mist champions summoned who rightfully should be able to kill both the red and blue party by themselves but instead get downed while fighting a couple random players. Also, Khilbron in storyline, is in HELL with Abaddon, not the mists.
Why no Shiro?
- Same reasons as Khilbron. In fact, the last time you encounter Shiro, he is hanging out with Khilbron, in HELL. Not in the mists.
Why no mega end bosses in general?
- Remember what it means to be “a mist champion”. This could almost edit out Scarlet but Scarlet is at least a more normal being. She isn’t a Lich demi god or something that once almost ended reality. But for the sake of things making sense, super bosses should not be unlockables in Stronghold. I mean how silly would it be if you could summon The Claw Of Jormag in to a Stronghold match, only to see it downed in 10s to a Power/Shiro and some Reaper?
At any rate, this is how I feel about this.
Added flavor could bring a lot more attention to Stronghold.
she was
Right in the feels, still….
From GW2, I’d say Scarlet.
From GW1? I’ll be weird and say M.O.X. Or Razah.

Livia/Scarlet/Jora
Is there an elephant in the room?
Ahhh! Eir! And Koss. Definitely Koss.
I would suggest changing Nika’s voice, it has been used so many times for Female Asura it just seem so out of place every time I hear it….
Gwen. One of the most famous hero of the franchise.
And she’s like the class mascot for Mesmers.

Oink would be awesome! I would laugh so hard.
Kilroy Stonekin!!
Serious. Loved that guy!
Also Sieran & Forgal.
If you guys would just kill off marjory and kasmeer… we could have them both as a mist champion… a dynamic duo sort of thing. One supports while one goes offense…

Needed something lighter for the day and missed this one before.
After playing some Stronghold last night, definitely need Scarlet. Image her giggling in the enemy’s lord room as she does her power attack. “Sorry for all the Death!”. And yes some classic Scarlet statements as she is summoned, +10.
Yeah, that would be an awesome addition.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
Perhaps give heroes stronger abilities or some interesting mechanics, right now the abilities seem rather weak, and heroes are chosen/summoned based on their defense stat.
Let’s see it as a full list with the existing ones.
- Grymm Svaard - Mixed offensive – Grants fury. Causes knockdown. Elite causes a cannon barrage.
- Pyre Fierceshot – Ranged offensive – Grants might. Causes burning. Elite places several traps that knock down those who trigger them.
- Turai Ossa - Melee Defensive – Grants aegis and protection. Elite taunts.
- Lightbringer Tybalt Leftpaw – Ranged Defensive – Grants Resistance, removes conditions. Elite deals poison and stuns.
- Nika – Melee Specialist – Grants stealth – Causes blind. Elite blinds and dazes.
- Kilroy Stonekin – Melee Specialist – Grants swiftness. Makes Critical hits cause daze. Elite gives quickness and alacrity, and makes allies briefly immune to snare and decreased skill recharge effects.
- Eir Stegalkin – Ranged specialist – Longest range. She can’t damage doors directly, but she can summon Garm every 90 seconds. Garm is an NPC with health and armor equivalent to an NPC of elite rank, no defiance bar, and deals increased damage to doors, equivalent to a door breaker and a half. Elite creates a long arrow barrage that cripples
- Ceara – Ranged specialist – Grants retaliation – Causes confusion. Elite causes torment and fear.
- Magister Togo – Ranged specialist – Summons spirits on its path. The spirits stay in place giving random boons to allies and attack enemies until they are destroyed or Togo is defeated. Elite summons an army of spirits.
- Warmaster Forgal Kernsson – Melee support- Grants stability. Causes vulnerability. Elite launches.
- Alesia – Melee support – Grants vigor. Pulses healing. Causes weakness. She is rank champion instead legendary. She doesn’t have the elite skill that takes 20% of the enemy lord’s health. She has less health compared to other champions, she can barely damage doors and deals much less damage to players and NPCs, and can’t be summoned twice by the same team (the channeling will fail if an Alesia is already on your team). In exchange for those downsides, on her death all allies are revived, fully healed and made invulnerable for 3 seconds, and she will resurrect at the base 2 minutes after being defeated.
- Magister Sieran – Ranged support – Grants regeneration. Heals occasionally. Causes chilled. Elite freezes.
- M.O.X. – Melee variable – Changes every 2 minutes to a random form, with a formula weighted with what enemies do near it on its path:
- Control – Melandru mode – Pulses stability. Launches enemies every now and then. Elite summons entangling roots.
- Healing and boons – Greth mode – Absorbs conditions from allies. Deals poison. Converts boons on enemies into contidions. Elite transfers condition on self to enemies.
- Utility conditions – Lyssa mode. Steals boons. Copies boons on self to allies. Deals confusion. Elite causes quickness and alacrity.
- Direct damage – Balthazar mode. Gives might to allies. Deals burning. Elite makes allies unblockable and immune to blind.
- Damage conditions – Dwayna mode. Heals. Converts conditions to boons. Grants resistance. Elite fully heals and revives nearby allies.
- Razah – Mixed variable – Copies the abilities of any random other Mist Champion except M.O.X. .
Yeah.. I think that should do it. Just a conquest map with a map mechanic that summons a hero that walks to a captured point and helps taking it, and we are cooking something here.

Scarlet , She destroyed half tyria, put in check all races, also awoke to Mordremoth
Wow, that is actually a pretty cool idea! I really like Eir and after wha….. Let’s just say I would like to channel her power!
Also I would love to see Prince Rurik with some snow avalanche attacks, if you know what I mean! HAHAHAHAH

Lol, forgot about Oink the invincible pig god.
That actually would be funny as a mist champion.
New Boss or Heroes
Gwen – Mesmer Clones, Phantasms
Scarlet – Eng (grenades kit, – conditions)
Rurik – Warrior Berserker
Livia – Necro Minion Master
Undead Lich – Necro Blood Magic
Captain Romke, the Norn player’s ancestor if they choose Lost an Heirloom.
I don’t support the idea of creating more heroes unless they get integrated in a conquest map. Stronghold is just not competitive or even enjoyable to me(shifts focus from pvping to running supply and pve). The only things I find good is the lord(skills, downedstate) and how we can chose heroes to spawn.

There are already enough “tanky” types which is unfortunate for Koss. I would love to see Koss but I don’t feel he has a place. I would like to see Razah, the ritualist from GW1.
That is an interesting suggestion. Who else would you like to see as returning heroes in stronghold?
It would be great. I’d want to see Prince Rurik. And as he walks toward the enemy base, he can tell stories about his childhood in Ascalon.
Windows 10
I am super happy to see people so excited about the mist champions. I can’t promise that any of the suggestion will make it into the game, but I have written down all of the suggestions.
Kalla Scorchrazor… Cause Charr masterrace.
Scarlet Briar… she is the best!

I like you.

Sieran and Forgal, Tybalt isn’t the only mentor who died. >.>
KOSS!!!

koss.
nufsed.
Devona would be good, wielding a hammer so knock down and daze abilities. Maybe also if she had heavy gate damage.
Mist champions in other maps?
For example Spirit Watch could be refined to integrate heroes into the orb mechanics.
If you finish the channel rather than getting the orb you summon your selected hero to carry the orb back to your home point. If the hero dies, the orb returns to it’s original spawn location/disappears.
Another thing I would change in Spirit Watch is to only spawn the orb 2-3 times a match like buffs in temple, therefore capturing the orb would grant more points than now. (but there should be a notification 30s before it spawns)
Discuss here.

What about truly defensive hero spawns? This would seriously add dynamic to Stronghold. Such as:
- Mhenlo – spawns and goes to your lord room and defends it.
- Zho – spawns with her black moa, goes to your lord room and sets up a ton of traps.
- Ton – spawns and goes to supply point, then rigs area with a ton of bombs.
~ Just thoughts, just thoughts.

Let’s just remove players from Stronghold and make it a 1v1 minigame, where you summon heroes and minions for various purposes.
But seriously, my vote goes to Gwen. Or Cynn. Or the Master of Whispers.
Sonya for females. (necro,rev,ranger,mes,engi)
All classes lvl 80.
What would make a Gwen appearence even more nostalgic, would be if it were the Gwen from the Gw1 Alpha (or the Beta?), where she skipped around town, raining fiery death upon all the players :P
That is an interesting suggestion. Who else would you like to see as returning heroes in stronghold?
Non humanoid champions. Glint maybe?
Glint would stomp on us, she’s too big. She’ll be the Godzilla of Stronghold x.×.
The hero of destiny’s edge who is the master race. That would be cool. Maybe could have a Garm run along beside her.
Garm is probably alive
I’m shocked that this many people actually play stronghold…95 responses at the time of this post.
I don’t like the idea of Eir or Tybalt even because they were beloved chars in stories and we have to attack and kill them in Stronghold. I don’t want to have to be attacking and killing Eir every dam day in Stronghold please.
Instead of new heroes, new stats for each. Just do plethora of in-game skins. Not like you can’t scale down a version of boss-fight-mordremoth to walk along and smack a door

Hey, she just wants to pvp with you. No different than killing players.
