So what i get is that every competitive team has to have an elementalist since their treb destroying speed is just insane. Before gw2 was released i was happy to hear that there wasn’t any healer tank and dps roles built in within classes but now the game has this problem that every team has to have an elementalist at least for the last map.
I think that this issue should be resolved by balancing out ele dmg to treb cause none other class can not even close to his speed when it comes to trebuchets(and of course a mesmer that can repair the treb with a portal). I have a competitive team which does not include any elementalists nor (op :P) thieves and we are really struggling against those who rolls an elementalist at the last map.

tl;dr….my mesmer has to keep repairing, because ele does damage.

You can’t get upset when your trebuchet is being attacked. You’re also not forced into using the trebuchet. If an elementalist is attacking your Treb, that means that the enemy team has one less person in the field. If they keep destroying your Treb, you need to change your tactics. Each Treb loss is 15 points. Bring the fight to the elementalist instead. You cannot specialize in everything. A team of scissors will defeat a team of paper unless they become rocks.

My point is that why is the elementalist only class that deals the most damage to treb. why isn’t there any other class that can deal as much damage as him to a trebuchet. And probably some of the people that replied to this post is below r10 or smth since they don’t know how strong a support elementalist can be with matched with a guardian. That’s not my point though, i just hate the fact that there is no other class that can be matched with elementalist when it comes to treb taking.

What skill is it that kills the Treb so fast, and how much faster can an Ele destroy it than another class?

Meteor shower + magma something and its done

Magma is just a normal DoT, it’s not really part of the problem. The thing Ghazzog doesn’t like is that ele have AoE skills like meteor shower, ice storm, and thunder storm that can potentially deal a large number of hits to a large structure. The problem is that they’re not overpowered or anything outside of hitting structures, so it’d be kind of hard to find a fix. That being said, mes is OP when it comes too fixing it :p

What’s the Magma skill? I can’t find any thing beginning with ‘Magma’ as a skill, only on Trident weapon skills.

I just tried the Meteor Shower and it did some damage, but nothing nerf worthy I took it out about the same speed I would on my Warrior.

He probably meant lava font.

yep thats the one. lava front and meteor.

Lava Font doesn’t do any significant damage, no more than other skills. Meteor Shower seemed to take a big chunk off, once it had run it’s full duration but I was still left with about half of the Trebs health. Doesn’t seem like an issue to me.

Well maybe you are using clerics amulet and forgot to change to soldiers when taking down the treb, cause thats the trick to take down treb fast. lava and meteor shower damage is increased by power, correct me if im wrong.

1) Why is the mesmer the only profession with a portal mechanic?
2) Why is the guardian the only profession with spirit weapons?
3) Why etc etc

And the point is…you’ve got no point at all……

Necro’s can absolutely destroy treb if using the right build/skills. I dare say I can destroy it almost as fast as an Ele. The advantage Ele has is that they can kite around while destroying the treb where’as the necro needs to focus on the treb for the 4 seconds it takes to kill it.

please don’t try to be popular. what’s the relationship between guardian’s spirit weapons and ele’s taking down treb? and your first question it is kind of connected to my point. In order to counter a team with an elementalist you need to have a mesmer to use portal for insta repair.

I really am wondering what kind of build you are using cause i happened to play necro as my main as well and couldn’t find a solution. If you don’t come up with some useless d/d power build which wouldn’t be effective since it wouldn’t do anything other than taking down the treb, or a pet necro, which is risky since if you are transformed into a moa you get to lose all of your pets, I would really like to learn more about your build. Or any other classes’ build that has the same toughness and same damage potential as a staff elementalist.
