Elementalists? Balance? Celestial?
European Overlord
What? Did you not watch the ESL yesterday? In the earlier rounds, the winning team could go 5 eles and win. In the finals, they could only go 4 eles. Ele clearly has room for improvement!
Celestial Amulet offers a balanced stat distribution. Therefore Eles are balanced. They also can do everything like condi damage, direct damage, sustain, bunkering, support, mobility, projectile counters, stability, CC and french fries? I don’t get what you’re saying, sir.
By the way, Anet doesn’t really care. It’s not like sPvP brings them much money.
I would feel realllly bad if I was an Ele right now, it’s going to be a long hard fall when they do get the right nerfs.
They should of nerfed celestial in their big balance patch but they buffed it instead. And this is the result. You want fun pvp? Dont give 1 amulet way more stats than all the others. Its like playing WoW and being undergeared. Its stupid. Its how it will stay forever. So either quit or stop moaning.

- Arcane Precision
- Elemental Contingency
- Stone Heart
Making those traits baseline should make 5 CeleDDele successful.

Anet gave birth to Gw2 – Anet killed Gw2.
Murican law 2015.
They should have do the changes they had in plans but naturally ele community cried a river.. Thats the result.
If someone forgot;
http://dulfy.net/2015/04/25/gw2-core-specializations/#Elementalist
Compare that to current opness of ele. Moar stats, moar reduced cd’s etc.. disgusting.
Most of these changes were good.

I totally agree celestial amulet should be nerfed. After all, all those necromancer running celestial signet are dominating.
The problem is not the amulet is the class. People complain about developer short slightness but the truth is the players are far more short sighted to the point of 80% legally blindness.
I would feel realllly bad if I was an Ele right now, it’s going to be a long hard fall when they do get the right nerfs.
yeah, they’re too used to ez wins and they’re gonna fall really hard…and i’m gonna be there watching them failing once their totally broken spec won’t carry them anymore

Celestial isn’t the problem, or you would have a lot more classes running it.
Its not like the ONE other cele build is strong vs everything, its very effective vs condition and semi effective vs cele ele, but its EXTREMELY weak to focus fire and CC.

Yes, let’s completely insult everyone who played elementalist prior to the 15th April 2014 patch that brought a boatload of buffs to the PvP elementalist. Some people just stick to a class whether or not it’s meta since it’s the class they enjoy.

I’m not insulting anyone…i just said i’m gonna enjoy the sweet moment when eles won’t be able to rely on the most broken spec of all time anymore in order to easily win
Because this is what everyone else not playing ele is waiting for
Good ones are gonna emerge anyway…but we’ll finally see who’s really THAT good while playing on balanced stuff…or just rerolling to the next fotm cause wouldn’t do crap anymore

Eles have always been fine it’s just the players feel entitled to being OP.
Even during that “Dark Age of Uselessness” they claimed eles were a very strong class. They were meta in all aspects of the game except PvP.
I believe it’s time to revisit that period.
I bet if thieves were as broken and versatile they would get nerfed within 2 days.
All they need to do is nerf defensive traits from fire line and reduce stats on celestial amy. But nah, let’s completely ignore elephant in the room.

Unlike eles, thieves have more than 1 spec though. Eles ONLY HAVE CELE DD. Always only had that. Nerf that into oblivion and ele vanishes from the game, like it ALREADY DID FOR A WHOLE YEAR.
Eles needs a complete rework on their defense, moving it away from traits (where the combination is OP) into weapons and utilities.

Wait what???
Thieves have more than 1 spec?? That’s news to the rest of the GW2 world…..
Eles have more than one spec. The problem is they aren’t as OP as dd cele. Staff ele is a legit spec, and that df isn’t a slouch either.
I think you might wanna have another go at this one

.
And unfortunately the only way to do that would be to just rip out the DD Ele spec, it’s consumed the identity of the elementalist, and is masking the underlying issues of the class, and in some ways, the game in general.

These types of posts shows very clearly how ignorant some forum members are when it comes to other classes.

S/D + D/P are 2 completely different specs, they play like different classes basically.
S/D + D/P are 2 completely different specs, they play like different classes basically.
I think you are overestimating how many thieves run S/D.
S/D thief is actually A LOT worse of now because of less reliable invis, thieves just CAN NOT take a hit, the meta literally is pushing out thief build diversity.
Celestial Staff is A LOT more common and a lot BETTER too. Both of these are considered GREAT builds by meta battle by the way. See I can bring up obscure rarely seen specs too.
I can not even recall the last time I saw a thief NOT running the meta D/P build.
EDIT : I lied I saw a condi thief not 2 hours ago! He was pointless.
Then again i was running signet necro at the time, so was pretty funny.

DP SA Thief, SD Evade Thief.. slight variation.. I faintly remember some DD Thieves during the first few months, but was not into spvp that time so I’m not sure~
Edit: You said last 2 years, SD Thief was “meta” during a certain time during that last 2 years

Those died out bud. Evasion thief is COMPLETELY dead after Feline grace changes.
You obviously do see some of these in WVW roaming, but never in PvP. Since this is the PvP forum. yeah…
Yeah yeah SD was meta for like 2 months? Really no, stop nitpicking kitten it :P
I think you are overestimating how many thieves run S/D.
S/D thief is actually A LOT worse of now because of less reliable invis,
Not just this, S/D thieves got a massive nerf by reduced dodges, which make up approximately 100% of an S/D thief’s defense. Meanwhile D/P thief gets a buff by being able to take Shadow Rejuvenation without losing any dps.

seems to be a l2p issue.
This is an elementalist (and necro) problem, not a celestial amulet problem. No other profession or even other builds in the same profession perform nearly as well with the celestial amulet.
The builds which have used celestial amulets and been “meta” all share two key capabilities:
- Power from Traits/Abilities The power value on celestial amulet is pretty low, so unless you can dramatically increase your power, your damage isn’t that meaningful. Elementalists and signet necros do this with might stacking. Pre-patch cele rifle engineer did it with 300 power from the trait line.
- Easy Access to Damaging Conditions In order to take full advantage of celestial, a build also needs easy and constant access to damaging conditions, especially burning. Elementalist certainly has this. Necromancer has a lot of bleed and poison and can get others through conversions. Pre-patch cele rifle engi had Incendiary Powder.
The fix is to reduce might stacking and cut down on no-effort condition application.
guess who won?
Okay, I’ll bite… looking at that pic you were on the red team, you guys had two Elementalists (you being one of them running pretty much the standard Celestial d/d) and you lost. I’m assuming you’re saying that Elementalist is not OP.
I’ll get this out of the way, Rangers and Thieves are not OP.
Looking at your previous posts you seem to think Elementalist is balanced. You also said that Celestial Elementalists weren’t very good before the patch (that was posted three hours before I started typing this reply) so I’m assuming you’re talking about the patch in late June.
Before the patch that happened in June the three classes that dominated PvP were Elementalists, Warriors and Engineers. Thieves were also part of the meta due to their mobility but I don’t think anyone would say they were OP, yet you still had trouble against Thieves and you almost quit GW2. You realize you were playing one of the top three classes at the time and that still made you want to quit GW2 because you thought Elementalists were bad.
Come late June, the patch drops. Celestial is out of the meta for Engineers and Warriors but Celestial is still viable for Elementalists and also for Necromancers now. Now instead of having three classes dominating the PvP scene you’ve got just one. Now that Elementalist is the only one that didn’t get nerfed in the patch you think they’re balanced. Your class had to transcend to an unkillable god status for you to think that your class is finally balanced.
Another post by you from one month ago said that you didn’t think d/d Elementalists had good damage. Are you expecting Elementalists to hit as hard as Thieves while also keeping their sustain?
A post from four months ago (Elementalists were not terrible four months ago) of you saying that Elementalists can’t win a 1v1 against Warriors, Guardians, Necromancers and Thieves, no matter what build the Elementalist is running. Followed by you saying that the people that upload videos of Elementalists winning 1v1s are doing so because it’s funny and rare for an Elementalist to win a duel.
You’re like those people in Dota who complain about being at 2k MMR and think they should be at 7k but instead of getting better they blame everyone and everything else around them.
TL;DR You’re bad at the game or a really dedicated troll.
Aside: It would be funny if I misinterpreted your pic and this post was for nothing.

i like how you dissected my post history so much it creeped me out a little. i’m not running super coordinated structured pvp games so i don’t pay attention to who exactly are at the top or what not. it’s just a view from someone who plays mostly pug random games where other factors come into consideration.

Boons and AoE cleansing are on rampage until conditions and especially boon hate can match bandaids will keep coming.
The Dhuumfire thread
Please explain how NECRO is part of the problem?
Cele signet necro mostly. It can might stack almost as well ad d/d ele. Combine that with decent defenses from high life force generation, good direct damage, and lots of conditions from abilities and boon convert and you have the same problems as the old cele rifle engi and current cele d/d ele.
Cut down on some might stacking or boon convert and it’s much less of an issue. All that can be done with a single trait tweak. This necro build is just overshadowed by other problems right now.

Okay, I’ll bite here.
Celestial Necro barely causes any condition damage. It’s condition damage output is 3 stacks of bleeds on Dark path, 2 stacks on Mark of Blood, 2 stacks on Weakening Shroud, up to 3 stacks of Torment on Tainted Shackles and 3 stacks of poison on Chillblains. Bleed damage is pretty weak, especially if you aren’t a dedicated condi build. ~7 stacks of bleeding is bordering negligable damage and that’s pretty much all a Celestial Signet necro can hope to generate as their “burst.”
Everything else is dependent on their opponents. Zerker thieves don’t really see anything else at all, due to being low-boons (so nothing from corruption) and not doing condition damage (so transfers don’t hurt either). Burn Guardians, on the other hand, practically explode due to having tons of boons to corrupt and giving the Necro serious firepower.
If a Celestial Signet Necro bursts you hard with condition damage, it’s your own condition damage, not his.
Necro damage scaling is weaker than Ele, so the Might stacking (which, by the way, is not as high as ele usually gets) gives them less damage anyhow.
(edited by Drarnor Kunoram.5180)
1) Might stacking- should be half as effective in PvP (15 power/condi dmg per stack)
2) Burning- Dmg needs to be trimmed a little bit, preferably by cutting its base dmg value. With 0 condition dmg burning does 131.5 dmg/sec/stack. Compare that to Bleeding which starts at 22 dmg/sec/stack. It does too much dmg for little investment. Drop the base dmg to around 66~ and leave the scaling alone.
