I think people who play elementalists just need to get better. I see often people saying that a horrible ele is more noticeable than one that is good. I’ve been downed by eles in like 2 seconds before so I know they aren’t underpowered, you just get smashed if you’re bad

As a die-hard ele from the start… once i switched to ranger… I realized at least for bleed builds, ele’s are very lacking.

Their downstate ability 2 is useless. At least as a ranger, I can stop one attempt to finish me. As an ele, once you are downed, you are dead. Lava Font on down can potentially damage the opponent enough to drop them as well, but it is stupid to rely on this.

As far as building glass. It can work, but other classes do it much better. An ele in glass has 10k-11k HP (extremely low) And if you build for toughness you are forced to build bleed, or you are just throwing 30 points into earth for the mere sake of toughness.

It is very limiting and I feel like some when I think other classes just do what ele’s can do, much better.

While there are more pressing issues for ANet to deal with, I do agree that eles need some buffs, particularly to our downed state.

It seems ele take a bit more skill/buttonpresses to play. Usually i get to kill eles pretty easily but sometimes when the guy playing actually knows what hes doing its a good fight. However I fully agree their downed must be buffed, a downed ele is a free and easy stomp.

Their downed state is pretty deplorable.

A well played ele is one of the strongest classes in tpvp. A mediocre ele will get destroyed in seconds. The class has a high skill floor, maybe some QoL changes could help with that.

I agree with fixing the bugs first though.

I’ve seen some extremely talented Ele players. Granted, most of them are absolute free kills. I think we need more then a month to decide whether the Ele profession needs to be buffed. Fixed so that everything is working is always a priority, but general across the board buffs…. it’s a little too soon.

Yeah I was actually talking about this with a friend the other day. I think all the other professions have to wait 10 seconds before being able to switch weapons again, I don’t see why the Elementalist has to deal with a 15s cooldown on the attunements.

Imho, even just dropping the basic cooldown to 10 seconds would improve the Elementalist a lot.

(class stronger than mine) is OP. (my class) is underpowered. (classes I beat easily) are fine.

Fire Grab 45 second cooldown 8k dmg crit when burning is applied and not removed as you run into melee range (then pray for it to miraculously hit) says hi.

Fix fire grab and the damage and cooldown and range (story of the elem’s life) is still kitten

Ele’s can actually rip your face off pretty hard if you run into a good one. I’ve had really good one’s take may face off in 2-3 seconds flat. However, i have also played an ele, in order to get good with them it takes tons of practice with numerous button presses, as well as extremely good positioning. The easiest way to tell how good an ele is, is by judging how long you see them running towards you and how long your still standing before being downed because you didn’t pre-prepare for the massive burst they are capable of.

In my opinion:

  • Fix movement bug with Ride the Lightning.
  • Slightly widen cone on Fire Grab.
  • Revert or reduce damage/cooldown nerfs to Arcane utilities, to provide a bit more on demand burst damage. Most Ele damage abilities are skillshots, which mean they have to work very hard or get very lucky to do most of their damage against competent players. The Arcane utilities mitigate this somewhat.
  • Move Cleansing Water trait to tier 2 Water. Ele condi removal sucks right now, and this would be a big step in the right direction.

I think the ele class in general is actually very good. Very high skillcap and takes alot of practice to play well. they have high burst and good survivability even as glass. I think alot of the problems with ele comes from very minor things.

1: Ride the lightning is not very reliable, often gets bugged out and leaves you standing still in a ball of lightning for 4-5 sec.
2: updraft does not last long enough in my opinion, the dragons tooth/updraft combo is easily dodgable by competent players and that really is the only way to maybe land a dragons tooth.
3: Mist form does not stop any condition damage on you, and with limited condition removal on a ele this makes things like rangers or necro very hard to kill simply because mist form does almost nothing vs them.

In my opinion if those things are fixed on a ele then it is a step in the right direction, like i said these are very minor things and in no way would this buff the class and make them OP. It would simply make the class function properly imo.

Not really, the ones that dont know how to survive as a ele will probably die. In a 2v2 or 3v3 ele can survive very easily and should not die instantly if built correctly, even as glass.

454 games with ele. We dont need buff. I would like one interupt in utility skills thou. Think most classes got that but us. What I think would be a good idea is those “minstuns” they got in dota2. Like you dont notice the stun but they still cancel your heal. All classes would have these ofc.
edit: I do however think we need a lilbit of tweeking, what I do not know. Thats for the devs to decide

Eles might be in need of a buff but if its anything its only a slight buff. In TPvP, eles are one of the best roamers if not the best roamer option. I point to Phantaram of Team Paradigm and Prince of Imperial as examples of eles that play well and destroy. Staff support eles perform amazingly as well with Mianhe from Team Legacy being a great example of great ele play.

I think eles should have access to a viable condition build which I do not believe they really have right now. They could maybe also use a small increase in base hp or armor but I am not sure if that is really warranted. The fact of the matter is that there really aren’t any mediocre eles, they either dominate or get blown up constantly, it has a very high learning curve and I don’t know if that is a bad thing for the power a strong ele has.

My ele can’t get any more “toughness” than it has and a thief can take 50% of my hp down instantly. Their class is a pure joke and I am surprised they aren’t flooding the fields more than they are now.

Do ele’s need a buff? Yes. Even going glass cannon we can be out dps’d.

No, obv tho if you are not running mist form then i think u are doing it wrong, normally as glass u should be using arcana skills.
