Yeah, I’ve had the same but with a lower lvl player..
Most of the time, he ran to cap points that our team was already capturing while no enemy was in sight. Obviously, my teammates and I ran to were we were most needed atm instead of just standing there capping with 2.
It ended up with him about 220 and the rest of us about 70. According to him, we were the ‘nubs’ because our score was so far below him.
And while we’re mentioning it, why not just take away that little 10 points pop up for capping a point because I still see ppl sitting on points 2 and 3 at a time just to get their little 10 point pop up. It hurts the game

Currently the scoreboard is silly.
BUT:
If the scoreboard showed damage taken, damage given, healing output to allies, boons given…it would be amazing
Also, the death credit system should work in the same way LoL’s does, where whoever does the most damage gets credit for the kill. This would add extra excitement to the game from a viewer perspective if people could watch and think “Oh wow, so and so’s warrior is on a Rampage!”

The scoreboard has always been bad, because the point system is inherently flawed. It should have always been a board to check stats (condition/direct damage dealt, boons given, points capped/decapped) rather than who has the most points. It’s so laughably easy to rack points up you don’t even know who’s underperforming on your team. If you did you could at least give them advice along the way.

It is counterproductive actually. 99% of all new players cap points with 2-3 or chase single thieves around the map with 3 players untill he is dead. Simply because they only care about personal score.
Its because the system “teaches” them to act like this.

Shhh …. Chasing 1 guy around the map without capture ,Playing faceroll ez-mode builds and thought yourself a pro ,and “ZOMG LUK AT DAT RANGER SO BAD NUB” things will show who noob .
I don’t know why there is personal scoring in the match at all. There’s one score that should matter and that’s your team points.

I’d quite like to see kills/assists/resses/caps, without the current really terrible personal score – but even then folks might feel that such things were more important than general team score.
Maybe a giant flashing green “BUT IT DOESN’T MATTER LOOK AT THE TEAM SCORES” over the player info area, at the end of each match, would help?
If we take away personal score, why don’t we just do away with the end match pop up entirely? It’s always irritating when it comes in the middle of a fight?
Agree, personal score should be removed … but you will see pure PVE/achievements player coming for their daily 3-cap and 10-kills, standing together on close at startup, and zerging roamers on the map.

Yup I had a very similar experience it can be frustrating.

Yes, just got flamed by an enemy for ‘being bad’ and ‘carried’ while i made sure we kept all points capped.
New players don’t understand how the gw2 pvp system works and they are too focussed on kills and personal score.
Either there needs to be a proper tutorial ingame or they need to rework their scoringboards in matches.
This is ofc only a problem in hotjoins, but seeing the amount of ignorant people while testing some new builds is mind blowing and depressing.

Neither ranks nor score determine how good of a player you are. That’s the point of the thread and suggestion.
Scoreboard need to be reworked completely.
Bunkers get boned pretty hard, as do decappers.
Maybe add a “guard” personal point bonus for the amount of time spent on an objective as long as there isn’t no allied players within x distance. Make it scale with the amount of enemies in the area / attacking the objective.
Make capping far worth more than mid/home
And finally make it so you only get the capping point bonus if you were the 1st one there to discourage double capping etc…
I’m sure there is a lot of good ideas out there, but as it is now the scoreboard rewards scumbag play. I always double cap, because of that. Gotta beat to your score afterwards man.
What is even worse, is that you won’t get the full reward of a win/loss at the end of the match if you don’t hit some invisible mark on the personal score. I think it is proportional to the top scorer in your match too, because I’ve scored 40pts and only gotten 866 rank points for a win in solo queue. More encouragement of selfish bad play.

We could remove the entire UI. Forcing people to memorize hp/cooldowns would increase skill cap…

I wish it was only a problem in hotjoin, but it happens in team que all the time ( i yolo que team que frequently, as well as dual and 3 man queuing)
