Honestly I am tired of facing cheese kitten build. Especially since engineers can do this… They jump from the ledge and then place it in mid air… MID AIR… That mean that no melee class can take them out and if they do damage to the turret, it is so small that it will reheal itself while you are trying to cap. This provides enough time for the engineers or any opposing member to come back and kill you off.

Here are some ways you can fix them:

1 – Reduce the health on the turrets. (Conditions does no damage, any non zerker/soldier classes will do minimal damage)
2 – Decrease its up time. Have a turret last for 20 secs then auto blow up. There upkeep it too long. Once they have blown up have the recharge timer then kick in. This will further prevent turret engineers.
3 – Have a turret to host radius. If an engineer places their turret on home point and leave the point to fight on mid or even far point, the turrets will blow up. I have seen this done countless of time where multiple engineers leave their turrets at home and then contest mid and far. It is improbable that a single person can decap while being pounded by the turrets

Honestly these types of build ruin your PVP playerbase. Any acknowledge will help ease them if anything. I truly wish we have some feedback regarding these cheap, unskillful, exploitable tactics.

Lol. If they balanced your way, they’d honestly look better just removing the skills from the game. Turrets are already useless in every other mode in the game (literally), conquest is the only place they had a chance. If they even remotely do what you said they’d be gone.

I’d rather them just move more into active and redesign some traits that buff the engineer’s effectiveness when playing (per turret used) rather than traits that directly buff the turrets, some inner synergy, but still a focus on the engineer.

Also, yeah, fix the floaty stuff.

This will not be popular, but engis can be balanced with one small change: remove the water field from the healing turret. That will help balance the turret engis at lower levels and will balance the nade spamming cele builds at higher levels.

I beat turret engies 1v1 on a few different things. Your point isn’t really vaild for a couple of reasons. One is turret engie isn’t about the other person’s skill, it’s the fact turret engies take very little to no effort at all. The other reason why turret engies are el cheapo is they can wear sentinel’s amulet and retain the same firepower if they had chosen zerk amulet with their turrets (only their rifle or pistol damage is effected). No celestial class can do this. Nobody putting on soldier’s amulet can have the same firepower as they would have if they chose zerk.

Only one small problem with this plan: staff ele does very LITTLE damage to turrets in mid-air. They are basically immune to aoes.

Turret engi has a lot of counters ? The only way to counter turrent engi is aoe damage to take down its turrets fast or heavy condition damage or you can go outnumber him and by outnumbering him you leave other nodes defenceless so it is more benefitial to other team. And as you can see at the first post, engis can use their turrets at mid air or some other awkward places which makes no sense !!! Also i suggest you to take a look at the pvp leaderboard. MOST of the top rank players are turret engis. People are farming,increasing their rank by playing turret engi and last night i did like 5-6 matches. and faced with at least 2 turret engis every single match.

I don’t know how much my opinion will matter, but as a brand new player who is trying to take PvP seriously I am not surprised that people are this angry about it. The exploit with the turrets in midair makes it even more annoying to think about.

I really like this game’s pvp so far. I am learning a lot about warrior doing unranked queues, but if ppl are running turret engineer so much in ranked I don’t think i’ll participate in that until I know that at least this midair exploit is addressed.

It’s disappointing to see this kind of thing in an MMO with as much critical acclaim as GW2 has.

i never said spec specifically for turret engi. i said learn the counters. if you can use parts of your build as an advantage against them, then great. if not, then coordinate with your team for the potential situation and chances are you’ll have the upper hand.

Just had a few matches on Guardian, I have to go thru least 3-4 uses of Smite to (safely) destroy the Rocket Turret, with auto attacks in between. That’s a total of 25-30secs hitting an inanimate AI just so it’s safe for my teammates to not get #esport-rocketed. Until of course the odd Turrets in midair and you can’t destroy them at all with AoE….so much for easy counter.

Indeed, Turrets have completely failed as a utility-type. They do absolutely nothing but take away from game’s overall good experience.

They’re completly unusable in the entirety of PvE and WvW, and for the small window of usability in PvP, it is an extreme detriment to the sanity and enjoyment of all parties.

Not fun to play with, not fun to play against.

I would support Turrets auto-attack features being nerfed into competitive obsoletion so that they would only be a novelty/starter build, and join the other A.I sub-type builds. It would honestly be a huge sigh of relief to every single PvP player – both those who feel compelled to use it in order to be their most competitive, and those who have to constantly deal with them.

Any build can be part of the meta in pick-up matches, why should we suffer high auto-attacking A.I to remain in the spotlight?

Guys, its not just player versus turrets. Stop being so banal. Any semi brain-dead engi will burst you with rifle, alongside the turrets. If you do happen to destroy them, he’ll drop a crate on your face. By the time you are done with those, he’ll cast even more turrets… all while the thumper turret will keep getting you down. Your safest bet is to +1 the guy and burst him down. And even that may prove difficult vs someone who knows what they are doing.

I usually don’t complain about turrets because I know some people have to use them because they can’t play any other build and be effective, but I honestly am getting tired of fighting them when I solo Q (which is all I do basically)… Literally just got done fighting a team with 2 of them + spirit ranger… the players individually were not that good and you could tell. It is a little ridiculous though that a build that requires little to no skill (to be effective) gets so much reward( from a solo Q perspective.) This isn’t a ranked vs unranked thing either, because they are abundant in both Q’s, so you’re not safe in either Q from them.

Had berserkers amulet and traveller’s rune. The turret had kitten self repairing and that metal plating trait. Considering this was mostly middle of a team fight, it isn’t that surprising it’ll take so long to kill one.

Edit: I believe turrets don’t have massive hit boxes to soak up all the hits from Smite.

You complain the most about placement of the turrets in mid air but none of your suggested fixes addresses that problem. The easiest fix for the mid air problem would be: Don’t allow turret placement in mid air.

You realize an expansion is coming out, right? That this expansion will change everything in PvP. Thus, I don’t expect the Dev’s to spend any time working on what we have now. Besides, you have all three points and are winning the match. So I still do not see how “OP” Engi’s are.

Though I will say that this mid air thing is cheap and shameful. To be honest I’m having a hard time seeing where the jump point was to even have placed these.

That is just one aspect of what an engineer can do. I firstly state that I am tired of cheese builds. And since many player participating in this topic understand what I mean have gone past that one part where they can place turrets in mid air.

Also not all classes can deal with turrets. On my mesmer I have no problem destroying them but have them stay on point while no player is guarding is unfair. That is like have NPCs play as well. No other class can provide this. Necro MM will follow and are too kitten stupid. Also they are acceptable to damage from condi and physical where as the turrets are only physical.

Also keep in mind I am not just referring to 1 turret engineer.. I am referring to have multiple ones in your party and just have them place their turrets out around the cap while destroying the enemy team with CC and damage. This type of cheese is why the PvP player base are all raged up.

the nerf cycle ended at Mesmer, dont try to play this “never-ending” cycle bs. If an AI build can allow to stay as, buff Mesmer’s clones and phantasms, I’d love to feel some love for the Mesmer class.

a 1 vs 1 engineer is not the problem. It is a problem using exploit where you put them in mid air. Also having 3 of them in party with a power ranger/ necro. The engineers will just cc you while the other will rekt you. Also since you have to worry about both Turret AI and the player it bring out a disadvantage since its not balanced out. Mesmer clones are really easy to kill especially since they are zerker clones. Now if for instance Mesmer clones had the same survivability as a turret then yes they would need to be nerfed.

FYI engi also have almost never used trait what able us place turrets anywhere in 900 range so fixing this particular exploit dont stop clever engi. No matter how much you cry we always find a way how to make you cry even more:-)

Yeah this engi meta is ruining the game when the classes are stacking. This proves the point of a thread I posted like a year ago, 2 of the same class should be the maximum allowed in a team.

Engi knockdown is too long or they have too much of it.
Turrets shouldn’t be allowed in capture circles, just like stealth or mist form isn’t.
Shield invul has a too low cooldown.

Basically as soon as you fight 2 engies or more your getting thrown all over the place. When your stability has a freaking 75 second cooldown you have to wonder what sort of balancing has been done.

your issue is you are trying to 1v1 a bunker… you know a bunker… a build meant to survive 1v2 for a good time. with turret engi you can win the 1v1 if you have condi, range, aoe, or cc. this build can be easily outplayed, so once you know what to do it’s pretty simple. however with the sentinel amulet it will take some time, and the turret engi’s abundance of cc will punish mistakes heavily. also, with 5 people to a side you only need one player to counter them, and either LB or condi ranger does such an amazing job of it you can just take a ranger and be cool.

i’ve been teaching a pal how to fight the build on his d/p thief, and he’s made massive progress. used to try rambo it with daggers, but now uses the shortbow. if you have TS, and are on NA you can mssg me in game and i can do some learning 1v1s with you.

choov, please stop defending turret engies.

1. The amount of damage for this bunker build is insane. It’s brawler-level damage + full-bunker sustain. Bunker guardian can’t really burst, hard-cc, or kill anyone unless they are silly enough to stick around for a 1v1. You can pew pew pew on a bunker guardian all day and never get any pressure. Usually you quickly understand that its better to go elsewhere rather than 1v1, but you aren’t stuck limping away with 30% health, or dead.
2. Due to the cc and damage, most builds that CAN 1v1 end up having to give up the point. It is a net win for the turret engie if they get even a neut and hold that for 20s. Usually they get the cap and hold it for a good minute at least.
3. Empirical evidence: A team with 2 turret engies beat a team as good as APEX 1 game, almost won a 2nd game (lost to lord), and made a poor decision that caused them to lose the 3rd. Even if you don’t think APEX is one of the best teams in NA, a team with that level of skill should be able to laugh at turret engies (an incredibly easy AI build). It’s good to have good strategies that allow new players to ingratiate into the game (like a rocket launcher in FPS games) – you get some kills and aren’t useless. However, while that player can use a simple strategy to start out, they can’t even come close to competing with the best players. Apparently in GW2, you can use one of the most mindless strategies and even make money for it. I think I should make a turret team, we could probably make it to 2nd round and maybe even finals of ESL!

Its safer to say all engineer. Turrets are ruining low-tier pvp for low tier players, frustrating for higher tier, and Celestial Rifle/Grenade engi is far too powerful in high tier (or really any tier, just turrets are quicker to be effective in lower tiers).
