Engineer Shield
With the recent buff to warrior shield, zerker warrior has been more successful. I don’t see why engi shield shouldnt be buffed as well since it is underwhelming to the pistol off hand at the moment and the fact it has a high cooldowns.

could use a CD decrease I guess. there is a trait for it, but lower CDs are always good right?
it’s still a strong weapon as it basically has four skills. wish hammer had more double activation skills too.

The trait for it also needs to be changed to apply the protection after the skill finishes rather than at the start of the channel, as a good half of its duration is wasted right now.

Pistol 5 is useless for a skill 5 though, its just because burning is ridiculous if you stack it hard.
Shield is fine. Moderate the burning access engi has and they are both equal.
One defensive, one offensive, as it should be.
In my opinion shield is good for wvw condi but for pvp i prefer double pistols . it is a personal opion, not a truth
The point is, Pistol offhand is obviously the better choice because the opportunity cost is too low. If we were to buff shield off hand it will provide another viable option to engineer against specific match ups and may bring back p/s condi engi to the meta.

That’s like comparing ice bow to an actual bow. No equivalency whatsoever.
shield is fine, especially the change that you can move while channel #4 made it awesome. the problem with it being swept under the rug is that burning is way over the top and therefore pistol #4 becomes the preferred option. burning needs to be looked at anyway and if it would be shield would be on par with pistol again.
however: as already said the protection should apply at the end of a skill since it doesn’t give you much since you’re already blocking/reflecting.
also i think a cooldown decrease could make it too strong. reflect+blast/interrupt and block+stun/interrupt are strong tools if you use them right (another reason pistol is preferred: it’s a lot easier to use). i’m afraid they would be a bit too strong if they could be used more often, specifially in high end pvp. but then again, who plays engineer in high end pvp anyway?
