What about Ranger’s Entangle ? How come its kinda the only unbreakable cc in game and it lasts forever ? Oh and its aoe just in case it was not enough …

Maybe Im missing something or does it need to be looked on from pvp point of view ?

From what I understand it has health and its attackable. So you just spam the 1 key and it goes away rather quickly.

But if you don’t attack it your root forever and ever.

It has health, is attackable, and dies fairly quickly. I can honestly say that when I use it in PvE, its a faceroll, but when I use it in PvP its virtually always about 2 seconds before I wonder why nobody is still stuck in the vines anymore.

yea so u remove the target on ranger to target the vine while u cant dodge or move and get spam hit by the said archer.
Then after a few seconds if ur not dead you killed the vine and can deal with … nvm u r already dead long ago

in large battle with mass aoe spam yea the vine die fast i agree, in small scale or 1v1 its 1 button to win imo and needs to be adressed

CeCaKonVeu, use whatever defensive cooldown you have and attack the vines. If you haven’t brought some kind of invulnerability or other very strong defensive cooldown, you’re a glass cannon in this game, regardless of how much health and toughness you have. It stinks, but its a game problem, not a Ranger (or any other class) problem.

show me infinite invulnerability
show me how u can dodge/avoid vines like u can avoid other cc
why it lasts forever when all other cc/debuff/condition is 1 to 6 sec

Its not wether u die or what … its u get locked out u cant do anything u get rooted and u HAVE to kill the vine and u stop killing the ranger or whoever else. Its not only a cc its a “do something else”

My break stun works on it I don’t know if you’ve tried that, if my break stun is down I can just steal out of it. Never really seen it as a problem, more of a annoyance.

Ur stun break probably breaks other things than stun cause its a root not a stun and therefore shouldnt break it. Mybe u have a bugged skill that get you away from it.. lucky you hehe

My stun break for sure dont break it

You don’t even need to target it, just spam your 1-skill and it’ll die quickly. Don’t know why you’re QQing about a CC that only lasts for 1.5 seconds against a competent player.

cause when i have a target, lets say that ranger that casted entangle, then i have to “untarget” him or ill keep shooting at him not at the vine, maybe ur melee and do aoe or melee spam but when ur ranged u cant hit the vine until u manually target it (cant even tab it cause its “yellow” = non aggro/non tab-able)

So basically if ur not melee u cant 1-spam attack then you are screwed in vine … until u disengage from pvp to target and destroy the vine … in the meantime u are left there no dodge, no escape no nothing until u die or destroy vine = bad design = need adjustment

What class are you, the only thing that has a hard time hitting it is bow, you can break the entagle with a teleport ability, It is such a useless elite. You can also dodge him casting the elite. If switching target to kill a root and switching back is hard to counter wait till you get stuck in a mesmers moa. Most classes have a immobilise that cant even be removed other than condition removal.

i play elem or mesmer ie if i have a target i will shooot my target not the vine on my feet.elem could get out of it easier than mesmer of course. but still.

If u are melee and spam attack it will go on the vine when ur target is out of range

If u play ranged u HAVE to disengage from pvp to target manually (not easy) the vine in order to destroy it… Or u have to aoe on ur feet therefore disabling u from pvp until the vine is gone.

I dont really have a hard time breaking the root and i play ele, try take lightning flash and the mesmer equivalent blink. Using this will teleport you out of the root. In my opinion the roots are so underpowered because they can be broken in seconds.

Forcing ALL playerbase to remove 1 of their utility slots just to counter 1 unbalanced ability. I dont feel the need and would rather avoid losing 1 slot for blink.

For elem yea if u r dagger spec u can spam like melee but with a staff u cant and have to aoe ur feet.

But i do get the point.
It seems some classes can deal with Entangle, some are just dead in vine.

Which clearly means it needs to be adressed.

when i played my ranger i was forced to take 2 cc breakers to get away from thiefs . And the cooldown of the cc is less than the cc breaker. But yes i see what you mean about being forced to use a certain ability is annoying.

Its not our fault you can’t click the vines and attack it CeCaKonVeu…

Also you mentioned somewhere about how its undodgeable….if you dodge roll then it misses

Also is has a cooldown of 150 seconds. Lolz. It can be used like 3 times in total in a match. It’s a pretty subpar elite – subpar CC (vines can be broken), subpar damage (its all condition based over a period of 20s which is prettykitteneasy to remove) and long cooldown.

Only good thing is its AoE – which atm at least makes rangers a bit more useful in group fights/support (which is what rangers lack atm).

Thiefs can get out of vines easy without attacking actually. Shadowstep, steal, 2 with a sword mainhand. Anything that can teleport you out of the vine, not necessarily break immob as it will just be instantly reapplied for still being in the vine, will take you out of the entagle and put you back into the fight, or out of it.

It can be tab targeted as well, but tab targeting is kind of akward in this game. I can have someone in my face and hit tab and it will leisurely scroll through everyone farthest away from me before the guy that’s in melee range. Also, when there is an engineer with turrets down, tab seems to think i would prefer cycling through every turret before the other players that are around.

Just for those that don’t know yet. Entangle basically spawns a melee ranged pet that will attack anything on top of it every 1 second and apply immobilize.

If you cleanse said immobilize and quickly dodge you’ll be out of it, or use an ability to displace you (a teleport).

If you would like to practice this, go find some giant Tree mobs to fight.

If you cleanse and immediately dodge, great ! so u sacrifice utility skill + burn also ur dodge in the same split second to counter 1 badly designed skill of one single class ?

Im saying this shouldnt be like this u shouldnt be perma root until u burn skills or escape skills or kill the vine… every other cc is couple seconds only and just stop after the duration. No other cc is permanent “by flawed design”.

Really? It’s an elite, be glad you can even do something against it, compared to Moa or something. If anything it’s one of the few elites that can be trivialized by anyone with a displacement skill lol.

Also it’s not permanent it’s 20 seconds, and that’s if you decide to completely ignore the roots.

it is attackable.. sadly enough i pull at the wrong string, as engineer my pistols cant hit it while im in it, which is an very weird bug.

…and for the fact it feels like the most glitched CC ive come across…ill be about 2 inches from 1-2 people…pop entangle…neither are snared at all…neither rolled… so i get a “wth” feeling while my plan on snaring and escaping turns to 2v1 in the back…

I believe only rangers and mesmers can fully dodge CC (every 90 seconds via pet or illusion with traits) so that being the case i can only assume it simply glitches out at times =/

entangle is one of the ranger’s only root abilities atm outside of pet skills. It is on a 2 min CD.
