The amount of tankiness that Anet has just thrown around like candy in these elite specializations is insane. It is nearly impossible to get through the ridiculous layers of sustain, toughness, and blocks that these new elites have now.

You don’t even understand them fully but complain?
Wait and see, in time you will be able to telegraph and time the CDs of these blocks.

Toughness is a non-issue by the way.

Way I see it, it’s a four-way problem:

> Conditions are too strong

> Ground based damage is too strong

> This leads to tanky builds being more and more popular

> Which leads to risk / reward direct damage (warrior / gs guardian / thief) being weak because they are already weak to ground damage AND they have a hard time killing people who spec for tankiness.

I think the way to solve it is getting to the root of the issue of ground control / condis being way more powerful than berserker damage. You’ll see more diversity in builds if things like burning, mesmer and necro (who single-handedly make berserker meta unviable) get nerfed.

The way I see it now is that most specs allow you to have the best of both worlds: damage and tankiness. You should have to be forced to choose 1 or the other. Not having any berserker classes in a game means that every fight will just be endless.

That’s kind of the ‘high active defense, marauder’ type. Unfortunately, the game is at a cross roads right now because the amount of active defenses has pretty much shredded multiple roles in this game.

I could take it or leave it either way, right now my favorite build is my Curses shout Marauder reaper, and it does just that. But at the same time, I don’t like pushing out roles because everyone likes to do DAMAGE DAMAGE DAMAGE and have all the active defenses they could ever want…
